Great news Smile

BlytheSpiritsSpirit · 30/11/2018 14:54

Tears of joy here! So proud of all these amazing women and so happy to stand shoulder to shoulder with you all.

RedDogsBeg · 30/11/2018 14:53

Datun They must have known this wasn't going to fly. I don't think they did, I think they are so convinced of their right to do and say what they want and to have everyone, especially women, bow, scrape and submit that they arrogantly believed no-one would say dare say "No".

All that pesky testosterone fuelled male privilege and socialisation, eh.

hellandhairnets · 30/11/2018 14:51

I think perhaps that, while they are having their lie-down, the Lawyer could do with having a good think about whether pursuing vexatious complaints in court are helpful to their proponents' "cause" in the long run, or whether they alert the wider public that there is something weird going on that looks an awful lot like intimidating, manipulative and harassing behaviour designed to shut people up and scare them.

Especially when such complaints are against well-known individuals and are likely to be reported in the national press where everyone can see them.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 30/11/2018 14:51

brilliant news

but yes, this was harassment. I hope Linda and Venice go after the individual that did this for every penny of their costs. Others need to be discouraged from bringing vexatious cases like this.

IstanbulConstan · 30/11/2018 14:49

I am looking at the usual reporters, nothing in the mail have supported Linda so far and nothing from Kirkup yet. Maybe something tomorrow from Janice in the Times?

There is only this rightsinfo.org/linda-bellos-faces-trial/ here.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 30/11/2018 14:44

I expect that the Doctor can administer a tonic to the Lawyer, who might need to lie down in a darkened room upon hearing the news.

Datun · 30/11/2018 14:44

Interesting, isn't it? They must have known this wasn't going to fly. Their lawyers must have told them. So it was an exercise in intimidation.

The revealing part is that they fail to understand how that damages their PR.

They know enough to say in that secret meeting look, let's provide a nod towards say, period poverty. As a PR initiative. But, they can't disguise, or take account of their male privilege. Which means they don't actually see any of this.

This is why transactivists can't fail to incriminate themselves.

It's no coincidence that hundreds of women have come to seek out gender critical feminism, on the basis of reading transactivism.

BitOfFun · 30/11/2018 14:44

I'm so pleased about this- it's given me something to smile about after having to pull out of the event tonight. Justice for the Spectacled Two!

WrongSideOfHistory · 30/11/2018 14:40

Great news 🙂

RedDogsBeg · 30/11/2018 14:40

Well, it is very 'egg on face' isn't it, I am imagining mass whirring of cogs and wheels to really, really, really try and spin this or maybe the American Toilet story is being used to bury bad news.

I don't for one minute expect it will give them the wake up call they need that is so long overdue.

NotTerfNorCis · 30/11/2018 14:34

Not the tiniest mention that I've seen. They must be aware of it. They read this board.

Fallingirl · 30/11/2018 14:34

So wish I was in London. -joins virtual conga line.

RedDogsBeg · 30/11/2018 14:33

The silence is deafening then? No symbolic flowers and trite tweets? Oh dear, what a shame.

NotTerfNorCis · 30/11/2018 14:23

All the TRAs are ignoring it. Looks bad for them. They've got an American video that supposedly shows a woman opening a toilet door on a transwoman to maunder about.

RedDogsBeg · 30/11/2018 14:09

Any reaction on Twitter from the usual suspects? How are the Doctor and the Lawyer coping with this?

VickyEadie · 30/11/2018 14:02

I know we all knew the whole thing was completely ridiculous, but I'm so pleased with this.

Fabulous coat there, Linda.

theOtherPamAyres · 30/11/2018 14:00

If a case is discontinued before a hearing, then there will be no costs awarded, I believe.

It would be good to know whether the hearing actually happened and lawyers were able to make representations about costs. Or was it a case where they were told of the discontinuance BEFORE a hearing, and so never went before the Magistrates to ask for an award of costs?

arranbubonicplague · 30/11/2018 13:57

This was harassment.

If anyone encouraged Guiliana to disregard advice from legal counsel to drop the case and egged on the continuation of the action, I hope they they're prepared to chip in should defence win a motion to recover the costs.

MnerXX · 30/11/2018 13:37

Woohoo! Brilliant news. Grin

Branleuse · 30/11/2018 13:28

Hooray. Im heading up to London to celebrate

Bowlofbabelfish · 30/11/2018 13:26

Excellent.

But not good that they were put through this in the first place. The stress, hassle, impact on their lives and the financial cost are all considerable. This was harassment.

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 30/11/2018 13:26

Chatterbox - I'm coming tonight and will be there about an hour early so would love to meet for drink first if people are about and congregating.
