So they’re not pro-women then. God forbid you should hurt the feelings of any male by pointing out that they commit nearly all the violence.

Get to fuck, Sophie.

WEP

Where some “women” are obviously more equal than others.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 26/11/2018 23:27

I’m fascinated and disturbed by the idea of a FB page of a political party being a “safe space”. And the social media space of a women’s party being a safe space for men.

Surely the whole point of political parties and their social media spaces is to grapple with difficult and sometimes conflicting ideas.

The political spaces I inhabit are full of robust, often very robust debate. I’d assume a women’s political party would have some hard and thorny conversations with the electorate. Male violence is a huge and terrible topic, of course it needs to be discussed.

Which is to say, shut the fuck up you lot of whiny wankers and let the women speak. If you can’t stand the heat of a proper political conversation, get back to the, well, not kitchen, since that might involve doing the washing up.

So it's very important to protect the feelings of "women" with cocks but the old-fashioned vagina having kind? Eh, their feelings just aren't as important, and why can't rape victims just be more careful about how they express their trauma so it doesn't ruffle any delicate male feathers?

Funkyfunkybeat12 · 26/11/2018 23:01

I am so angry about it. This is a party that’s meant to centre women’s interests. The only such party in existence. Yet it wants to maintain bullshit gender stereotypes and tells a rape victim not to upset men. Apparently Sophie is on a social media break but I hope to god that she sorts out this shower of shit. This is not women’s equality- it’s the exact opposite.

Sad to say this doesn’t come as a surprise, as while back someone who was WEP front for one region was promoting why kids should have hormones, I did speak up also about something else but not to WEP directly.

I maybe wrongly assumed those with more knowledge knew about it (it was still all new to me). They no longer have WEP on their twitter but just checked and they are running mini spin off of webberly, disheartening reading the appreciations from after school group.

They was already doing what they spoke about in that meeting, getting someone in every group school etc.

Crap, I should of stuck to reading about Beryl and be none wiser now.

Galvantula · 26/11/2018 22:49

Surely we know by now.. Facts are bad and evil and hurtful. HmmHmm

pombear · 26/11/2018 22:47

How on earth is the Women's Equality Party so supportive of 'gender' when so many women fighting for women know that 'gender' = stereotypes that restrain people?

(Rhetorical question because I know Transfigurations is in their patch, in their group, all over their agenda - it was game over before they even began. Be nice, women!)

I cannot understand how a fellow woman can say
for the small minority of women who feel they must have willy-free trauma spaces you're welcome to set them up independently.

What on earth does she think women's rights were for?

It makes me think of the upsurge of those not wishing to vaccinate their children. Everyone else did the work, things 'feel' safe, so they can do what they want, say what they want. And now things aren't feeling so 'safe', I see a social media upsruge in attacking 'anti-vaxxers' who used to be on the 'cool side' 10 years ago.

theOtherPamAyres · 26/11/2018 22:47

Wow. What an appalling way to repond to a woman who discloses that she has been raped. I feel sick, actually.

I'm also creeped out about the very active transgender WEP member helping local parties set up and build themselves up. They seem to have a full-time job going to WEP meetings in the West, Wales and London being stunning and brave and helpful.

You would think that women couldn't organise themselves, wouldn't you? You might wonder why budding local parties and new members need such supervision. Creepy.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 26/11/2018 22:40

theyre like the 'gendered socialisation in action' party

Oldstyle · 26/11/2018 22:38

No I can't even.
A women explains the entirely valid context for her concerns about males colonising female spaces and WEP's response is to tell her off for potentially upsetting men. They obviously got confused when they were choosing the name of the party. They are a bloody disgrace.

keeponspinning · 26/11/2018 22:29

I can't even.

BathFullOfEels · 26/11/2018 22:23

I would like the WEP to consider what they have written as it is hurtful to me, a woman. Is the WEP genuinely suggesting that women aren’t allowed to discuss why so many more males than females are violent because it might offend a male?
