The topic is "The law on sex and gender".

On the radio, Alex came across as male, both in terms of voice and delivery. Comparing women's concerns to bubonic plague? Pontificating on what 'real' feminism is? No debate, no workable definitions of terms. Deeply unconvincing.

It astounds me that women are expected to just accept what Alex said without asking questions.

OldCrone · 26/11/2018 13:13

Cross post with Countess.

OldCrone · 26/11/2018 13:12

TRAs seem to have listened to enough of what we're saying to realise that many (most?) women don't 'identify' with female gender stereotypes, which would make most of us 'trans' rather than 'cisgender' - or at the very least, non binary.

So then they use the term 'cissexual', which relates to the body rather than gender stereotypes.

Ray Blanchard on Twitter (July 2017): 'I define "cissexual" as contented with anatomic sex, willingly identifies as anatomic sex.'

But that means that transwomen who love their ladydicks are transgender, but also cissexual. Doesn't it?

needmorespace · 26/11/2018 13:09

I have just finished listening - I am furious.
Could AS have spat the word gencrit with any more venom? How fucking dare AS assign a derogatory label to me like I'm the one being irrational.
How fucking dare AS refuse to engage? How fucking dare AS dismiss women's legitimate concerns? How fucking dare AS refuse to explain what cis means to TRAs.
I'm so sick of entitled men. Sick of them. To the point where I am beginning to wonder where my tolerance levels begin and end.
No to woman-face, just no.
No is not the beginning of negotiation with these people. No means no debate and no men in women's spaces.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 26/11/2018 13:05

So lots of transgender people are also cissexual?

LangCleg · 26/11/2018 13:03

yes, but how much do you weigh, Lang?

I could tell you, but then I'd have to...

... blight your crops too!

ShotsFired · 26/11/2018 13:01

You can tell because when you duck me, I don't drown.

yes, but how much do you weigh, Lang?

Then we'll know for sure if you are a witch.... Grin

deepwatersolo · 26/11/2018 13:00

Ray Blanchard on Twitter (July 2017): 'I define "cissexual" as contented with anatomic sex, willingly identifies as anatomic sex.'

So it just means 'not gender dysphoric', apparently.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/11/2018 12:55

A lot is revealed on radio, I think because the focus is solely on the voice

If I was a TRA Id be no radio as well as no debate. All you can hear is a male voice mansplaining. The individual is briefly mentioned as a TW , but if you missed the start it becomes even more confusing.

arranbubonicplague · 26/11/2018 12:47

Soon Alex will claim that gc feminists assassinated Abe Lincoln, invented the H bomb, invaded Iraq and caused the 2008 financial crash.

I totally know it was sex-changing reptiles but only ever in their female phase.

R0wantrees · 26/11/2018 12:47

Having never heard Alex Sharpe speak before, I was struck by the deep contempt and nastiness Alex displays towards women who don't agree with Alex.

Its interesting isn't it?

More still when the actual words are transcribed and can also be read and considered.

Alex tweets:

'In relation to cis, I reiterate: cissexual = harmony btw assigned gender & actual GI while cisgender = comfort with normative gender expectations.'

What is GI? Sex? Genitals? Gender Identity? This makes no sense at all.

deepwatersolo · 26/11/2018 12:41

Soon Alex will claim that gc feminists assassinated Abe Lincoln, invented the H bomb, invaded Iraq and caused the 2008 financial crash.

You know, what always seems to get overlooked in historical analyses is that Hitler actually had a mother.

I personally caused Alex's crops to fail, cows to cease giving milk, and well to run dry.

You can tell because when you duck me, I don't drown.

happydappy2 · 26/11/2018 12:38

I think anyone listening would have been very confused.....why are women suddenly referred to as cis women? What is that chap on about?

Just woman is fine thank you-no need for the 'cis'

Gileswithachainsaw · 26/11/2018 12:31

I have to say I quite like these radio shows. No one can see them and they sound like well.....

Utter nonsense. Refused to define terms properly so all the big words and carefully prepared phrasing in order to sound intelligent just served to make it sound ridiculous frankly. And there was zero evidence to back up anything they said so the best defence they could muster was mass hysteria .

They honestly could not answer a single question. And I'm sure a good few people would be offended at sone how being redefined without their knowledge so that the very definition of what they are could expand to include those who have or used to have a penis.

The second anything was asked if them it fell to pieces.

deepwatersolo · 26/11/2018 12:27

They are now really appropriating the name 'transsexual' from transsexuals. After having called it an outdated term and shouted over and denigrated transsexuals for years. Because they've realized that the good old transsexuals are the only ones with an intact reputation after this crazy mess the TRAs created. Unfathomable.

It'd be the cross on the door, 'bring out your dead' kind of disease I'm sure.

AnchorMum · 26/11/2018 12:24

Alex said towards the end that using 'cis' avoided having a "hierarchy" of women. Who knows whether this was in reference to cis gender or cis sexual.

Having never heard Alex Sharpe speak before, I was struck by the deep contempt and nastiness Alex displays towards women who don't agree with Alex.

Guilt tripping women to be compliant is vile. Divide and rule is the only way these activists can think of to try to conquer women.

Rosa on the other hand was calm, clear, reasonable and compassionate.

The differences are there for us all to clearly see (hear.)

FloralBunting · 26/11/2018 12:23

Always worthwhile looking at the way the language shifts - tells you loads about the direction of travel in terms of tactics.

MrsWinkly · 26/11/2018 12:23

rightreckoner
Who goes on Woman's Hour and compares women speaking about women's concerns to the bubonic plague ffs?

Indeed. Alex used a lot of poisonous language today. Alex seems very bitter towards gc women. Soon Alex will claim that gc feminists assassinated Abe Lincoln, invented the H bomb, invaded Iraq and caused the 2008 financial crash.
Curiously enough, Alex was behaving like a man who hates women.

And some of these TRA academics really need to be given a red card and get off the teaching pitch. What an oppressive learning environment it must be for students who want to question the ideology, the very opposite of what you'd expect from higher education.

arranbubonicplague · 26/11/2018 12:22

Courtesy of Alex Sharpe - just testing out my user name and pondering just what a toxic impact I have on the world if I'm to be compared to bubonic plague.

The only thing I'm unsure of is in Alex's categorisation, is this the plague akin to the Black Death that slaughtered so much of the world's population and might have been an extinction event or the sort of plague that Texans are now exposed to via their dogs?

deepwatersolo · 26/11/2018 12:22

ah, you beat me to it.

deepwatersolo · 26/11/2018 12:21

So, if it is now 'cissexual', does that mean TRAs now summarily want the term 'transsexual' for themselves (that they so much hated until very recently), because they have transitioned and now are actual the opposite sex, by which thinking transwomen are women are adult human females!?!?!

ProfessoressWoland · 26/11/2018 12:16

Be interesting to see if the shift to cis sexual coincides with a similar shift to calling themselves transsexual. I can't see transsexuals taking something so blatantly obliterating lying down.

Stonewall definition: Transsexual - This was used in the past as a more medical term (similarly to homosexual) to refer to someone who transitioned to live in the ‘opposite’ gender to the one assigned at birth. This term is still used by some although many people prefer the term trans or transgender.
So they're all the same, apparently. Can't be long before we start seeing "sex change" instead of "transitioning" (with or without medical interventions).
