Isn't it interesting how we're extremely glad for "our side's" recordings to make it into the public view...while "the other side" tries everything they can to keep their words out of the public eye and away from fair debate?

Sure makes you think.

Imagine if radical feminists held a meeting they said they wanted absolutely no recordings of, with trans people totally excluded. How many of their goons would get sent to record? Would any of the trans-sympathetic news outlets or web forums shut down publication of that recording, especially if it revealed evidence that the feminists in question were acting in a derogatory or ill-advised way?

It's very strange to see how much we are all supposed to simply respect men, and do what they ask.

Imagine a meeting of trans-black people held to disparage the transblack exclusionary radical race theorists (TERRTs). And the meeting being all about how black people pose existential threats to white people who want to be black. And then being told that if black people want to discuss an undercover recording taken by a whistleblower, black forums won't allow it because the white people who identify as black didn't want recordings.

This is shameful, MNHQ. Since when do we have to listen to men telling us not to record matters of public interest to us? We have seen threats come out of these "T*RF Wars" on Twitter and beyond. It is in the public interest for women to know whether the violent rhetoric of transactivists online is being matched by similarly virulent misogyny in person.

Of course the organisers don't want it publicised that punching women is just a part of what they do!

That's a secret men like to keep all to themselves, as if we didn't know.

Of course the organisers don't want it know that they are trying to shut down all spaces women talk.

That is a tactic that abusers use time and time again, isolate the victim from their support network.

If their message was clear and concise, and LEGAL - then they would not care who knows it.

The fact that it is hidden, passworded, and violence erupts when a women with a different opinion is in the room, just shows their agenda for what it is.

Sorry, hit post button too soon...

... the ‚transwoman‘ was exposed to the risk of landing in prison, which means near certain death because somewhere sometime some transwoman was killed in prison before trial.

The takehome message here was that people who call the cops on gender nonconforming males for whatever reason are trying to get them killed. As does anyone who does not want them in women‘s prison. Therefore, no debate.

Yeah, no signup needed, just ignoring it and hitting play is fine. It is one of these ‚nudging‘ things, where they try to manipulating into doing something - in this case signing up.

I found the ideology at play quite chilling. The well documented attack on Maria McLaughlain (spelling), was played down to some minor (inadvertent?) shuffling that was used by ‚TERFs‘ to call the cops. And while the ,TERFs’ then just left and went on with their lives, the ‚transwoman‘ 🍁

charleston I don't have a Dropbox account and I could play it fine (iPhone safari). You might need to just click passed some signup stuff, can't remember.

I suspected this would happen. I couldn't listen due to not having a Dropbox account and not wanting to sign up there and then. I took a screenshot of the link so hope I can listen at some point.

As I understand the law, making a recording is not illegal if it is for personal use, however releasing that recording publicly is murkier, especially as they specifically did not give consent for it to be recorded. Journalist often get away with using recordings by claiming they are in the public interest (which I think this one was as well) but they have their own legal teams for deal with stuff like this so I can understand MNHQ not wanting any problems about this.

A transcript or summary of the recording is fine legally though.

VovoBickie · 23/11/2018 04:54

I wasn't going to bother listening but now I want to know what's being hidden lol

StarsAndWater · 23/11/2018 04:45

Is it a legal thing? I believe the law around recording people without consent is a murky one, especially with then sharing publically although there can be a public interest justification. MN might have been forced to take it down. I could certainly we the speakers not wanting their comments made public and challenging it legally.
I do believe Jean has shared with various journalists so hoping to see something from that.

What reason did they give for deleting?
