MNHQ deleting anything with recording of "T*RF Wars" meeting in Leeds

Isn't it interesting how we're extremely glad for "our side's" recordings to make it into the public view...while "the other side" tries everything they can to keep their words out of the public eye and away from fair debate?

Sure makes you think.

Imagine if radical feminists held a meeting they said they wanted absolutely no recordings of, with trans people totally excluded. How many of their goons would get sent to record? Would any of the trans-sympathetic news outlets or web forums shut down publication of that recording, especially if it revealed evidence that the feminists in question were acting in a derogatory or ill-advised way?

It's very strange to see how much we are all supposed to simply respect men, and do what they ask.

Imagine a meeting of trans-black people held to disparage the transblack exclusionary radical race theorists (TERRTs). And the meeting being all about how black people pose existential threats to white people who want to be black. And then being told that if black people want to discuss an undercover recording taken by a whistleblower, black forums won't allow it because the white people who identify as black didn't want recordings.

This is shameful, MNHQ. Since when do we have to listen to men telling us not to record matters of public interest to us? We have seen threats come out of these "T*RF Wars" on Twitter and beyond. It is in the public interest for women to know whether the violent rhetoric of transactivists online is being matched by similarly virulent misogyny in person.

Juells, I agree.

Even if they think it is OK they may have concerns that they will get tied up in timeconsuming and expensive litigation. My guess is this part of the reason why Twitter and Wordpress have their fingers ready to press the delete button when anything GC comes up. It is far more important that MNHQ are able to keep this forum open, both commercially and legally.

Again a contrast. There is lots of realy offensive stuff about "Terfs" etc on the internet, yet women seem far less ready to complain or sue. There needs to be a test case sometime on something, and I would be more than happy to contribute to a crowdfunder.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 23/11/2018 08:47

Really unfair to blame MNHQ for this.
At least the recording is out there and being circulated and we can still discuss what was said in the knowledge we have evidence.

R0wantrees · 23/11/2018 08:47

worth skipping to 1:20 in

charlestonchaplin · 23/11/2018 08:43

Thought I posted thanks to older and deepwater but it didn't post for some reason. I'm listening now. It really is a load of rubbish. The misinformation comes thick and fast. I'm not sure how much of it they really believe.

Juells · 23/11/2018 08:39

A shame that MN aren't on the side of women.

If it's not legal I don't see how MN can be blamed for removing the link. I'm grateful that MN provides a platform where women can discuss the threats against us. Where else can we do that?

Floisme · 23/11/2018 08:37

I can understand why HQ deleted it - the law sounds very murky - but it seems a little bizarre of the group to insist on this if it was (as I understand it?) a public meeting.

And they can't stop us talking about why they might want it hushed up.

Juells · 23/11/2018 08:37

Chilling

wallyfeatures · 23/11/2018 08:36

Could I also have the link @charlestonchaplin

Wrathofjurgenklop · 23/11/2018 08:29

I also hadn't got round to listening, y'know busy and all that. Hmm

Now I do want to listen.
I just want to hear what they are saying on the subject.

Why on earth is that so bad?

NicePieceOfPlaid · 23/11/2018 08:21

A shame that MN aren't on the side of women. Very disappointing.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 23/11/2018 08:18

I completely agree with you bean

I had no interest in listening to it but now i CAN'T listen to it i really want to

Though reading is much easier for me

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 23/11/2018 08:18

Ooh well done harpy

TheHarpySings · 23/11/2018 08:16

I am happy to transcribe a section.

WomanLifeIsGoodish · 23/11/2018 08:05

Ah annoying that it was deleted.

The thrust was that the recording gave an insight into the propaganda techniques used to brainwash the young and foolish into hating T.

The most interesting one for me (dusting off my History brain) was the use of the ‘big lie’ technique, starting with the assertion that GC women lie and lie with the intention of harming/killing TW.

It is as outrageous as it is untrue, but develops the us/them narrative to allow further assertions to seem reasonable: we should stop CG women meeting, Violence is necessary etc

BeanBagLady · 23/11/2018 07:58

I think it is fairly obvious that a website would not host recordings of people who had not given consent, whoever they are.

I am very glad to know what goes on at these meetings, glad that Jean Hatchet has given illumination, but can’t blame MNHQ for operating within the law.

MissWilmottsGhost · 23/11/2018 07:58

It would be good to read a transcript.

sackrifice · 23/11/2018 07:56

If nobody else is...

sackrifice · 23/11/2018 07:55

I've still got the link on screen, so will do some transcribing over the weekend to pick out some key points.

R0wantrees · 23/11/2018 07:53

Arghhh public obviously. Apologies.

R0wantrees · 23/11/2018 07:52

If anyone is transcribing, there seemed to be a key section fro 1:20 (I think) where there is discussion about what actions have been taken against Women's groups and what action is intended.

It would be realy good to have this transcribed.
There are some sigificant statements in there which definitey are in the pubic interest.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 23/11/2018 07:52

A transcript or summary of the recording is fine legally though

Who was it that said they enjoyed transcribing? Maybe they could have a go at this....

Did they say why they were deleting?

Micke · 23/11/2018 07:52

This no calling the coppers thing - that's anarchist? And out of things like black rights movements where calling the cops (at least in the US) certainly does put a black suspect at hugely inflated risk? So it's trans, yet again, piggy backing on other people's oppression and twisting the methods and words for their (already privileged) benefit?

The only people out of trans and GCers who benefits from not calling the police are the transwomen - aggressively blocking women from getting to meatings, threatening the women with knives on twitter, promoting violent rhetoric (violence of the physical kind, not just words people don't like). Of course they don't want the police called, they're breaking the law.

In contrast, they're happy to call the police on ManFriday, or leafletting women, who aren't breaking the law. Funny that.

Serfisafleur · 23/11/2018 07:51

Is this about the Jean Hatchet thread?

iMum · 23/11/2018 07:47

Damnit-8 only got 20 mins in. @charlestonchaplin could you pm the screenshot please?

R0wantrees · 23/11/2018 07:46

A transcript or summary of the recording is fine legally though.

That's interesting.
