MNHQ deleting anything with recording of "T*RF Wars" meeting in Leeds

Isn't it interesting how we're extremely glad for "our side's" recordings to make it into the public view...while "the other side" tries everything they can to keep their words out of the public eye and away from fair debate?

Sure makes you think.

Imagine if radical feminists held a meeting they said they wanted absolutely no recordings of, with trans people totally excluded. How many of their goons would get sent to record? Would any of the trans-sympathetic news outlets or web forums shut down publication of that recording, especially if it revealed evidence that the feminists in question were acting in a derogatory or ill-advised way?

It's very strange to see how much we are all supposed to simply respect men, and do what they ask.

Imagine a meeting of trans-black people held to disparage the transblack exclusionary radical race theorists (TERRTs). And the meeting being all about how black people pose existential threats to white people who want to be black. And then being told that if black people want to discuss an undercover recording taken by a whistleblower, black forums won't allow it because the white people who identify as black didn't want recordings.

This is shameful, MNHQ. Since when do we have to listen to men telling us not to record matters of public interest to us? We have seen threats come out of these "T*RF Wars" on Twitter and beyond. It is in the public interest for women to know whether the violent rhetoric of transactivists online is being matched by similarly virulent misogyny in person.

Do it stages, I'm managing about 20 minutes at a time. They do remind me so much of the late night idiocy my friends and I indulged in when pissed at about 4am after a party, similarly ill-considered and ill-informed and oh so stupidly blind and partisan.

NoseringGirl · 24/11/2018 21:57

If a judge doesn't have their coffee, they might send someone to the wrong prison and that's why GRA reforms are needed?!
Did I hear that right?
I'm not sure I can get through this whole recording...

Jux · 24/11/2018 21:29

...only working class women.... that is^^ MN is almost impossible to post on these days, it just doesn't work. Angry

Jux · 24/11/2018 21:27

Listening to it now. It's really nice to know that only working clasmen will have need of refuges or be sent to prison. Great to know that middle class women are safe from such things.

Thanks.
Long and tedious, worth it in the end.

Apparently, no platforming is good.
Yeah right.

I think you'll find free speech is better.

It's fascinating.

Jess that's definitively the NUS suspended officer right ? That is not a good person to listen to. Jess came across as unhinged.

There were other more moderate voices. I think the mum who's child is trans. The one who tried (and failed cos they are mad) to persuade them to stop running around screaming in gas masks to stop women talking. She sounded okay actually. I wondered if she worked in the trans charity area though.

I loved the story of the gender non conforming girl who thought she was a boy and desisted. And it did her no harm and they all agreed!!! Yes!!!!
Cos they didn't stop your pubity love. Fuck sake.

And ranting on about tattoos... exactly, I agree. All trans decisions need to be made at adulthood. Sorted.

I'm glad it's being transcribed. Fascinating I thought. I also think it's a shame they felt they couldn't raise some of their points in women's place meetings. I think genuine debate could be had.

The end bit though. Woosh. Unhinged.

Could someone send me a link too, please? I have a dropbox account if that's necessary. Thanks

R0wantrees · 23/11/2018 12:01

On the deleted thread about the Leeds meeting, someone commented how concerned they were for what sounds like very lost children.

Compassion is important.

My thoughts were that there are also clearly some adults speaking at the meeting who are very focussed, determined and influential.

This is where the focus might best be.

jeaux90 · 23/11/2018 11:56

It's easily found on Reddit. Working at home today and listened to about 20 mins of it. They sound like they are in an episode of the Young Ones. Terfs this, terfs that...honestly I would laugh if it wasn't so serious.

GenderCriticalRedditor · 23/11/2018 11:27

For anyone who missed the original dropbox link or can't use it, there's another link over on GC Reddit - I won't link to it directly as it'll likely get my post deleted, but it's there for anyone who needs it.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/11/2018 11:19

I might be getting deleted threads mixed up though. Not sure now which thread the doxxing occurred on.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/11/2018 11:07

It might not have been the recording, might have been some of the latter posts doxxing a prominent and vicious TRA. I thought when I saw them that, if reported, MNHQ would have to delete.

I don't think it's fair to blame MNHQ and accuse them of not supporting women, they are bending over backwards to allow this debate to continue and I'm willing to bet they are deluged with complaints and threats on a daily basis.

Ereshkigal · 23/11/2018 10:34

Listen to it if you can.

Datun · 23/11/2018 10:34

WhatTheWatersShowedMe · 23/11/2018 10:27

I'm also happy to transcribe a section.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 23/11/2018 10:11

Quick everyone take a step back!!!

pencil wants a volunteer

PencilsInSpace · 23/11/2018 10:08

I'm happy to transcribe a chunk of this today. I don't know if there are others already on it though and don't want to duplicate effort. We need somebody In Charge Grin

charlestonchaplin · 23/11/2018 10:04

Hope I haven't put anyone off listening. When I said it was rubbish I had only listened to the first 20 minutes or so and that was full of lots of misinformation, whether that was deliberate or not I don't know. There is stuff that is useful to know in there. Haven't listened to it all but certainly from 1hr 15 minutes in to the end is useful. (Followed R0wantrees suggestion)

sackrifice · 23/11/2018 09:59

Exactly Floral.

FloralBunting · 23/11/2018 09:11

Two words.

Streisand effect.

Melamin · 23/11/2018 09:05

That recording is ok - it wasn't their meeting.

Melamin · 23/11/2018 09:05

Apparently, TERFs have control over the national media! mirror and all that.

They are going to provide an alternative form of feminism that is more moderate LOL twitter.com/bo_novak/status/1065856607962259456

So true!

Having said that, I can understand why MNHQ deleted the thread if posting secret recordings are illegal. Although why it should be illegal to record a public meeting and publish the recording, I don't know.

Imissgmichael · 23/11/2018 08:51

I’d love to see a transcript. I do wonder though how utube get away with it.
