Just got back from the Asda run, and wanted to post this:

Couple by the newspaper stand. She's jabbing at the Mail on Sunday, reading the headline to him, and then said, 'Women have been saying this for two years and been called bigots. Now maybe the bloody male journalists at Mail on Sunday have said it, the government will listen'.

He was agreeing. Said it's horrible discrimination against children with autism, like their [insert child's name], and he wasn't happy if DC with ASD were being targeted by raving nutters ideologists.

I think India is saying that the story is fake, no facts in it, it orginates from a radfem on MN FWR and also that Stonewall have made this worse.

Is 'the story' IW is suggesting that Radfems from Mumsnet have duped the Mail on Sunday?

I really, really feel your pain.

Fast forward ten years and I worry we won't have a single civic institution left standing.

Looking at the article online, why has it been so far down the page all day, and why is there only one comment on it at the moment? (The comments have been moderated in advance, no doubt creating a logjam, which doesn't occur on those pesky Brexit stories.)

It makes me wonder whether the journalists responsible for the online version have given the story a low priority.

For the record, what does ‘neoliberal’ mean anyway? Because it’s just being used on this thread for profit-lead, in which case classic liberalism would do.

And The Guardian is just as driven by the profit margin as anyone else. Except they aren’t very good it it. Being shit at marketing isn’t the same as being anti-market.

From what women on here are posting there’s a significant number of people here involved in safeguarding on a daily basis. There’s a lot of practical knowledge as to what that entails. Daybin day out and regular training updates and that is why we are concerned.
Also if you work with lots of ASD kids and fill in lots of paperwork once they’re on the pathway you can see patterns and traits whilst not actually diagnosing.

Coming back to the Sunday Times article that R0wantrees linked to earlier ('Thank God they didn’t make this tomboy trans'), it's noteworthy that it's tied in to a Channel 4 documentary going out on Wednesday. TV programmes tend to get a lot more traction than newspaper articles, and it makes me wonder if the tide is finally turning on this.

India doesn't understand how journalists work. The MoS journalist would have made sure the source checked out before running the story.

But it's also noteworthy that India doesn't believe the story. Hell, you'd think India would be pleased at all those transitioning adolescents.

Hardliners openly strategise ways to make life tougher for trans people: Passengers warned not to travel on sleeper trains because they might end up in the same sleeping berth as a woman who’s trans. Support gathered to stop trans women being allowed on Labour’s all-women shortlists. National meeting organised where they can clap and cheer their hatred.

It’s all very similar to the way the National Front used to operate.

I’m sure most people who use the site are decent folk. They want nothing to do with the rabid mouth-frothing going on by so-called “feminists.”

And I say so-called “feminists” quite deliberately. It’s the point which is paralysing anyone doing anything about the situation. Because these radical groups are hiding under the “feminist” banner, Government and other institutions are reluctant to question them. If we use that statistic and apply it to the population as a whole, then it means that over 1.3 million people in the UK identify as transgender.

Much more than the tiny minority that is frequently touted.
