Has some LGBT training today and we were shown a slide with definitions on. And blimey: Fully front and centre is Cis woman in a box and then a box for trans.

Needlessly say I made a small objection as I'm not a Cis Woman. I'm a woman woman. You know born and bred female. But no..... apparently that's a matter of opinion and as I'm in a non political organisation I'm not allowed to contest this.

I did ahem, throw a teeny weeny tantrum but not in a loud way. Just in a I am real woman hear me roar way.

So then we had a lecture on the hardships of trans people and how being a woman is so easy. Gahhh!

And then given a pretty rainbow lanyard and a pat on the head

Good job I won’t be doing anything like that. I think if I was called a cis lesbian I might unleash the wrath of Satan on them.

WitchBottle · 14/11/2018 16:50

I find cis so deeply deeply offensive I would have rioted except for my total and utter social conditioning as a woman.

My male colleague and friend went to some inclusivity training session that I ducked out of, and raised a right royal fuss about male cultural appropriation of women's biology and experiences. I think his ideas were received rather more respectfully because he is a fifty-something man with a silver beard, and I think he felt bad and conflicted because he was shushed by women.

He also got a rainbow lanyard.

I’d make an official complaint OP. Honestly. We can’t let this shit slide. Do you have a union?

FekkoThePenguin · 14/11/2018 16:47

Write to HR. Also ask them how much the hot air from stonewall cost them and when are they doing disability inclusivity training.

FloralBunting · 14/11/2018 16:43

Nah, don't chuck the badge. As you are one of those awful witchy women, you should keep it to pop in your cauldron to do spells and stuff when all that boring sensible argument dullness doesn't make any inroads...

I'm dreading cobblers like this at work...

FFSFFSFFS · 14/11/2018 16:39

Was there a box for cis men?

I find cis so deeply deeply offensive I would have rioted except for my total and utter social conditioning as a woman.

Fuckers.

UpstartCrow · 14/11/2018 16:33

I think when I'm subjected to this reprogramming I'm going to be asking them lots and lots of questions.

Laceythesheep · 14/11/2018 16:31

If anything, at least you can say you tried. Possibly you speaking up has given other women an encouragement to think ‘hey whats going on here?’.

I always think that I want to be able to say to my grandchildren that I stood up and said no. I hope you’ve chucked the badge.

MIdgebabe · 14/11/2018 16:28

Could you reasonably meet the stonewall definition of trans non binary? If I recall correctly it includes anyone’s with no gender identity as well as people with what society at large might consider masculine and feminine aspects to their personality

Then you could come out and say how helpful the training was, how you never realised that your trans identity was holding you back.

Babysharkdoodoodoodo · 14/11/2018 16:26

Oh and the slides came from Stonewall.
