Pile on by TRAs

I am in the middle of a pile on by TRA's on Twitter.

I am not comfortable sharing my anonymous Twitter username on even here yet, but I wanted to ask, when trying to explain your viewpoint on feminism, and you become the subject of a pile on, what do you do?

I am stuck between not giving up, but the more I reply, the more of them pile on.

Help.

Lizzy if you are just going to be argumentative and insulting perhaps you should leave this thread.

No, women who can't define what a woman actually is without resorting to stereotypes are 'ill-informed', 'handmaidens' or 'idiots.'

See? It makes loads of sense when you spell it out instead of taking the alt-facts approach.

LurkingLizzy · 09/11/2018 23:26

Yep, women who disagree with you are 'ill-informed', 'handmaidens' or 'idiots'. Nice.

JessicaJonesJacket · 09/11/2018 23:20

Tbh I block them. I have been called 'the fastest blocker on Twitter Grin Life is too short to argue with idiots.

NotTerfNorCis · 09/11/2018 23:16

Silence or 'teeeeeerf!' followed by a block.

theOtherPamAyres · 09/11/2018 23:14

I've seen some very good exchanges between GCs and some naive, ill-informed young women. Basically, they are nice people and worth a few interactions.

HM: Of course TWAW and I don't have a problem with sharing facilities and services with them
GC: What about (shows photo of Jess Bradley)? Or (shows photo of the vile TW in a ladies toilet, wanking and boasting about it on Twitter)
HM: They are not transwomen. There need to be checks to stop people claiming to be trans.

GC: So you agree that some transwomen are actually men? You agree that there needs to be a diagnosis of gender dysphoria and a Gender Recognition Certificate? If so, you're one of us. Welcome.

HM: Silence

Beholdtheflorist I'm sorry someone was a dick to Hetty on here.

Lizzy, are you Lizzy from the Twitter thread?

There are 2 returns on Google for the 'disgrace' phrase - however because they're screenshots reproduced on Twitter, there's no indication of who wrote them...

Charliethefeminist · 09/11/2018 23:02

Lesbians aren't c*s.

LurkingLizzy · 09/11/2018 23:00

'Dick centred disgrace' ring any bells?

PineappleSunrise · 09/11/2018 22:56

Oh do go on, Lizzy. I love your alternative histories of MN - it's like watching The Man In The High Castle. Grin

LurkingLizzy · 09/11/2018 22:51

Toe to toe made three posts implying she is a man. The posts that were deleted. Three nasty, personal, homophobic posts.

Wouldn't surprise me given the treatment dished out on here to any woman who isn't transphobic.

wopbamboo · 09/11/2018 22:46

who called Hetty a man? On this thread or Twitter?

I disagree with her stance. No personal insults have been lobbed at her.

Far be it from me to act as thread police but I strongly suggest people do not engage.

There is quite clearly a screenshot hunt going on here and on other threads.

In the words of Alison Moyet, #Wankblock.

NotTerfNorCis · 09/11/2018 22:39

LurkingLizzy Mumsnet was 'forced' to bring in political censorship because of pressure from TRAs. The one positive was that the word 'cis' was (nominally) banned.

BitOfFun · 09/11/2018 22:37

I know that you wouldn't have posted anything homophobic, Toe

LurkingLizzy · 09/11/2018 22:37

Those TRAs had a nasty bullying tone. When people have no real arguments, all they're left with is abuse.

Of course this forum has never been abusive at all. A total mystery why Mumsnet was forced to bring in those guidelines because of 'negative generalisations', 'derogatory or aggressive posts about trans people' and 'aggressive or rude behaviour' towards mods

Beholdtheflorist · 09/11/2018 22:33

You called an obvious cis lesbian a man because you don’t agree with her on self ID. That’s homophobia.

Just so we are all really clear, I’ve got no problem with anyone arguing with her about her views or her opinions. But accusing her of being a man, repeatedly and the nasty little asides, not only about her btw, about Adam’s apples etc is disengenuous bollocks designed to undermine argumentments by people who generally aren’t smart enough to debate the substance.

NotTerfNorCis · 09/11/2018 22:29

wopbamboo You did great to keep your cool. Those TRAs had a nasty bullying tone. When people have no real arguments, all they're left with is abuse.

ToeToToe · 09/11/2018 22:28

Just like to say, I didn't post anything homophobic.

Beholdtheflorist · 09/11/2018 22:24

Keep them coming Toe to Toe because I am perfectly happy to report you and your homophobia all evening.
