Think about how invested mothers get in the bf v ff stuff, and that is utterly inconsequential compared to a decision to sterilise your underage child. There’s a massive need to validate ones own choices as a parent.

If you had taken your child abroad for a procedure that was illegal in this country, and rightly faced criticism for this, you would grasp at anything that affirmed your decision as the right one.
