Alabanza retweeted these reviews:

BURGERZ by @travisalabanza was an absolutely phenomenal piece of work. So intricately written with such an important message, perfectly woven into a performance that felt both fierce and tender - all whilst deeply rooted in authenticity. Oh and the direction? Sublime 👌🏾

I saw the matinee of #Burgerz by @travisalabanza yesterday and it feels so special to have been there. Part emotional release, part humorous romp, part ritual - retelling and reclaiming of trauma - it was flawlessly managed and controlled. Hats off! Such strength and beauty 💜

Alabanza didn't retweet this one:

Which is a shame as it appears to be very accurate (and entertaining) Enjoy Grin

If only i could conscionably part with the money to see this twaddle

FFSFFSFFS · 04/11/2018 22:52

Just to point out that I used the pronoun he and the descriptor guy when saying that I thought that he was the guy who had created a fuss because he wanted to use the women's and girls changing rooms at top shop

The point that this is problematic because he is in the category of sex male - also categorized as a man and in accordance with standard English language accorded the pronoun he.

And this right here is why language matters - because if I said "they" were trying to access the women's changing rooms or "she" was there would be no way to identify the potential threat to women in the situation.

And that is why language matters and why women need to protect our category.

AngryAttackKittens · 04/11/2018 22:51

I may decide to identify as a tiger on Wednesdays and a leopard on Fridays, just to switch things up. Pls respect my deeply felt identity and associated right to bulldoze other people's boundaries in the name of social justice.

Ereshkigal · 04/11/2018 22:50

Lang I also claim a regal title of "your majesty". And my pronouns are thou. Happy to pay you tribute as a lesser monarch as you are Grand Empress of the universe.

littlbrowndog · 04/11/2018 22:49

I will never disrespect the serene highness.

But ffs put a sticky up so I can get it right. 😂😂
And if you change your mind tommorow. Update sticky
Daily chore update sticky on pronoun change
Am little brown cat on Monday’s and Saturday s
Will let you all know bout rest of week

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/11/2018 22:48

I wish to be addressed as Her Serene Highness, Empress Of All She Surveys

Where to draw the line of when requested pronouns should be used and when they shouldn't. Why is your request any less valid tham Alabanza requesting "they"?

OP posts:
AngryAttackKittens · 04/11/2018 22:47

Surely the only correct form of address for any cat is Your Magnificence.

IKeepFlouncing · 04/11/2018 22:46

To be fair to MNHQ they will also delete "terf" or "cis".

Hahahaha yes!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/11/2018 22:43

Maybe we need a sticky with the pronouns of the most prominent and likely to be discussed TRAs

I can just imagine the gnashing of teeth of the ones who don't make the list Grin

littlbrowndog · 04/11/2018 22:42

AngryAttackKittens · 04/11/2018 22:36

Maybe we need a sticky with the pronouns of the most prominent and likely to be discussed TRAs. In some cases those would need to be updated daily, so extra Gin for whichever poor sod at MNHQ ends up with that job.

IKeepFlouncing · 04/11/2018 22:33

Sorry I don’t understand? Honestly all these fucking prenouns and made up words are a mind field to me. I lost many hours trying to just to decipher MN abr to be able to read posts

It that person a mumsnetters?

And what about my religious beliefs that I can only refer to sexes

I got a clip round ear referring to people as she followed by who’s she the cats mother.

They are going to the park (Group)
That man is going to the park
That woman is going to the park

I don’t look at THAT persons website. It has no bearing to mumsnet, I here to chit chat with the women

littlbrowndog · 04/11/2018 22:32

They do it’s a new thing. Pronoun checking
Hope they checked mine
Cos I don’t do the general “ folks “thing and I might have a literal waftie explosion

I mean, ItsAllGoingToBeFine, half of them are in tech, right? Why haven't they already thought of this? It would save so much time.

Oh!

Do I sniff things like Duluth, wheels, coercion and control?

Perish the thought! I will refer myself to the jolly-times gulag immediately!

badgirlswatchagonnado · 04/11/2018 22:29

Wait, does @MNHQ expect us to research every single TRA we discuss here? Seriously?

Ereshkigal · 04/11/2018 22:27

‘Piss, Pop, Taylor Swift, Fishnets’?

I think it would be an amazing theatrical event.

The act of shaping trauma into something of such beauty and with such teaching power is remarkable.

As someone said about "Burgerz".

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/11/2018 22:26

We might be better off crowdfunding for an encyclopaedia of pronouns. Plus some integrated search and replace app to join it up with Mumsnet

That had occurred to me too. It'd need to be some sort of widget whereby people could enter their current pronouns, and then if their name was posted anywhere it could autoenter there pronouns.

Maybe it'd be simpler for MNHQ to implement a pronoun filter though. Anytime anyone posted "he" "she" "him" "her" the site could auto replace it with asterisks?

I do find it quite entertaining that I can post "cunt" on MNHQ with no repercussions, but when I accidentally call a male "he" I get an official warning...

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 04/11/2018 22:18

Maybe we could crowdfund to go to see the show and then not actually go and see the show and go and get pissed somewhere instead. Because it sounds monumentally shit.

LangCleg · 04/11/2018 22:17

Evening folks. Just for the avoidance of any confusion or offence here, we wanted to point out that Travis's Albanza's website says Travis's pronouns are 'they' and 'them'. If you could stick to using those or just Travis's name, that would be very helpful. Thank you!

Poor Hebe!

BigotedWoman · 04/11/2018 22:13

Crikey Not, imagine there being more than one Travis Alabanza in the world.
