Fair enough. I don’t think my friends are misogynistic, they certainly wouldn’t just go round to anyone and start on about how gross women’s bodies are. We’ve all known each other a long time and I wouldn’t be friends with them if there was any nasty intent towards me. It’s a common joke between us all. They brought lovely flowers and gifts after I’d given birth and then my v close mate (A) asked how the labour and delivery had gone so I gave edited highlights while they all pretended to faint. It can be good humoured.

I have quite a few gay men amongst my friends and actually they are all pretty disgusted by women’s bodies. Not in an unkind way (although I can see that it could be considered that way!). They would run a mile from a female body and certainly wouldn’t be wanting to have sex with that person.

They absolutely can’t bear any talk about birth or vaginas or periods or breastfeeding. They would rather politely excuse themselves and leave because it makes them go a bit queasy. Fair enough, not their cup of tea - I am equally not very interested in hearing about visits to notorious public toilets and a certain type of party. It doesn’t stop us being friends, and it doesn’t stop a very dear friend from being a wonderful godfather.

Why shouldn’t gay men have their own spaces? This relentless pushing at boundaries and the complete inability to live and let live astonishes me constantly. It’s all Very Special Snowflakes who can’t stand the word no. I can only boggle at the levels of narcissism which seem to make these folk feel they have the divine right to do whatever they want, and fuck everyone else’s wants and needs.

Amongst my friends is a gay male couple - one is late 60s, the other late 60s. They've been together for 30 years now. I give this as context to a conversation my (female) partner and I had with them about sexuality. Partner and I were both with men before we met each other, I will add - so technically bisexual.

Both these men have never, ever had a sexual relationship with a woman and would never, ever consider it. And by woman, they mean a person who is XX - they say they are not remotely attracted to female bodies and no amount of testosterone or facial hair - or even a pump-up fake penis - would change that.

Really interesting to compare the language that Harrop uses when referring to men or women.

Very careful neutral language (diffident even) when referring to men, like in the screenshot above. Notice that he doesn't "call out" those men who objected to the female person in the male sauna, he doesn't even refer to them at all.

Heightened emotional language when referring to women. Lots of calling out of women directly, repeatedly referring to them by their names. Lots of loaded language (vile, bigot, etc.).

Has Harrop or one of his mates not even bothered to find out where sauna owners & customers kids go to school yet? Have they not demanded sailors delete their account with a £100000000 donation to mermaids?

The Twitter arguments make my head spin. If there are no differences in the sexes, surely spaces should just be open to all?

Well, now that The Harrop has spoken order has been returned to the world.

Like I said upthread, [Harrop etc will] be relaxed in saying "that was bad behaviour by Sailors Sauna, it's good they've seen the light, the sky didn't fall in" and will then use this to say that transwomen having access to all women's single sex spaces directly corresponds and is equally no problem at all.

Sailors Sauna provides the example that no matter what the intimacy level of a space might be, trans people fit in just fine.

It's interesting though isn't it. The 'transman' subconsciously knows that only penetrating the vagina with a penis can lead to impregnation, so doesn't want some randomer getting her him pregnant, therefore the vagina is for the long term partner.
