Moving account over several videos. They are now GC and argue for the importance of informed consent and a slow transition process. He says TRA's and supporting therapists are institutionalising negligence.

Compelling testimony but also shows very clearly that GC feminists are ultimately the real supporters of all people wishing to live lives outside of Trad gender roles.

A video Patrick retweeted. It's long - over 20 mins, but very much worth listening to in full.

TimeLady · 29/10/2018 09:47

Gosh, that was a hard thing to watch. The poor man.

ElfID · 29/10/2018 09:24

These are incredible. I've spent the morning listening.

TheClitterati · 29/10/2018 07:31

Of course these voices are blocked by TRA's - they completely destroy the TWAW nonsense.

Thank you for posting this link I look forward to watching these videos. I find it very worrying how the voices of detransitioned people are deliberately erased and omitted from the narrative at the moment.
These voices need to be heard by policy makers in the public sector especially the NHS including mental health services, Parliamentarians who make the law on this and the regulators and the professional bodies of the doctors, nurses and therapists that work with those seeking to transition.

The UK professional bodies and regulators of medical and psychological professionals are particularly key because they will apply guidance that binds professionals working in the private sector. Not all children and adults are using the NHS.

The potential for an experience like this man’s must also be accepted and informed about as part and parcel what professionals are telling their patients in an informed consent discussion. It would be nice to be able to attach more details to this discussion from the UK context, but James Caspian’s research on detransitioned people in the UK- and generally that of other academics around trans issues, is being blocked by the intimidatory atmosphere that TRAs are creating in UK universities. the Times reported on this just this past weekend: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3407331-Times-on-activists-threatening-academics

I saw this the other day and found it profoundly moving.

He's on Twitter: twitter.com/Rueckkehrer

Great information from a really thorough and impressive witness to the reality that transition isnt.

It just also makes me more concerned about the transition of young teens . They do not have the maturity for real understanding and consent - this guy shows how important that is

breastfeedingclownfish · 28/10/2018 21:25

I am so impressed by this man and have so much sympathy for him that even, as intelligent and articulate as he is, he nearly ruined his life. Yes, he absolutely was failed by therapists. He should have been offered an alternative to simply transistion affirmation. Thankfully he realised the truth before he tooks steps he couldn't reverse. So very brave of him to speak out. Hopefully it will help other vulnerable people.

DeRigueurMortis · 28/10/2018 20:21

Yes thanks - I'll also be tuning in to that link also.

TheClitterati · 28/10/2018 18:13

Thanks for the Carey link - I will watch after dc are in bed.

God, isn't that what we all have to do?

Yes absolutely.

It is incredible that at one point this clever and articulate man was under some kind of spell/delusion as to the possibility of actually changing the sex of his body.

This TRA agenda, is so strong and powerful and had a massive influence (mostly off the back of falsely conflating transphobia with homophobia) - not only influencing those who are feeling "trans", but as we are seeing, influencing politicians, doctors, therapists, schools, police, prison system etc. It seems to be to no ones benefit at all, but to make TRA's feel powerful. You have to think for most of them it will all come crashing down at some point too.

What an interesting and articulate man - and in English too.

I found his comments at the end of his most recent video particularly enlightened: where he talks about trying to find a way to accept his body and integrate his physicality into a healthy sense of self.

God, isn't that what we all have to do?

deepwatersolo · 28/10/2018 15:55

Betty indeed, in one of his (German) vids he says the transition made him more depressive, even suicidal, because the discrepancy between his ‚female identity‘ and the reality of his body was so disconcerting (albeit acknowledging that this is a common risk but not a certainty). This is what Cary described, too, I believe.

BettyDuMonde · 28/10/2018 15:48

For the lurkers or those who may come across this thread in the future whilst googling for detransitioning info I am adding a shout out to Cary Callahan - a detransitioned trans ‘man’ (aka a ‘reidentified woman’) who makes similar observations in her own videos (all on YouTube and on her personal blog).

I hope he sees this thread! He seems like a lovely, reflective, kind and compassionate person - but also courageously honest and clear-sighted about his own story.

hellandhairnets · 28/10/2018 15:27

Great vids.

He is spot on. Institutionalised negligence is exactly what this is all about. The whole thing is deeply unethical.

There is no freedom or autonomy in people who are experiencing distress being pushed toward a fiction that will in many cases never resolve the underlying problem and will cause irreversible damage.

His fury here is palpable - I agree with him about therapists although as we know, we are fast approaching a situation where any therapist who does not take the affirmative-only approach will be struck off for "conversion" therapy and "transphobia", so I think the drive is far bigger than individual therapists in terms of power.

I only hope he is right in that this lack of ethics and integrity is not going to last much longer.

deepwatersolo · 28/10/2018 15:27

In German they talk about Social sex (or use the English word Gender for it) and biological sex. The distinction must already have happened with 2nd wave feminism, which pointed out that the role of women is socially constructed, I guess. But I agree, the Getman language makes the distinctions generally harder (female and feminine are the same word. Same for male masculine).

ThePrincipal · 28/10/2018 15:11

If not. How did Germany get to the same place as the U.K?

ThePrincipal · 28/10/2018 15:10

Does German conflate sex and gender in the same way as in the English language?

deepwatersolo · 28/10/2018 15:03

Definitely French native speaker, though his German is really fluent with only hints of an accent.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 28/10/2018 14:59

I initially thought he was German but having heard him pronounce Simone de Beauvoir I'm beginning to think he's a Francophone. Belgian maybe?

deepwatersolo · 28/10/2018 14:41

Very interesting, thank you for posting. I particularly like how he addresses psychotherapists and TRAs at the end of the second video, where tells the former to find another job, if they have nothing to offer and the latter that it is cruel to risk fragile people‘s wellbeing with their agenda.

Notably, in a video in German about Radfems (who he generally sympathesizes with) he mentions that brand new German guidelines now, contrary to former ones, say that transitioning should now also be open to fetishists (who he explains are mostly heterosexual late transitioners with e.g. previous sexual interests in women‘a underwear. He gets women are livid these can now claim womanhood, also understands in principle that women find it offensive how transwomen often seemingly reduce womanhood to stereotypes).

So Germany seems to be on the same track, full speed ahead.

DeRigueurMortis · 28/10/2018 13:51

Excellent videos - Tx for posting

TheClitterati · 28/10/2018 13:50

He speaks how making these videos was an important part of processing and dealing with his anger.
