Famous undeclared GC people?

Who do you think might be gender critical on the quiet? David Baddiel has just posted something about polyamory on a twitter thread about the doxxing of a GC uni professor. I think he must see this is all Pomo nonsense. Obviously we have Graham Linehan who’s been a compete star.

But are so many other intelligent, critically thinking famous people out there, especially the comedians, there must surely be some who are desperate to call out TRA bullshit. Where are they all hiding?

Yes, misogyny still gets a pass in a way racism or homophobia doesn't. It's bloody depressing.

Love this phrase from biology....ideological flat earth equivalent minority they really are. I've been thinking for a while that the twaw line is actually much more difficult to swallow than arguments from flat earthers or creationists or climate change deniers because the shape of the planet or evolution or climate change are not obvious, you actually have to look at the science. Sexual dimorphism of mammals is obvious, not just in humans.

I really don't get why more scientists haven't spoken up.

And I still don't understand why trans people can't embrace who they are and be trans and proud.

Their inaction will come back to haunt them just as it is to historic abusers.

They are on the wrong side of history and the population will know this and will know about them.

Cowards

citiesofbismuth · 27/10/2018 14:33

Qualified doctors and scientists should not be supporting damaging anti scientific nonsense which has no basis in reality and no supporting research findings. This behaviour is unprofessional and they should be held to account for holding irrational beliefs.

MPs should also be held to account for failing to protect entire sections of society.

The police should be held to account for failing to address terrorist offences and rape and death threats.

Women represent half of the electorate, yet they're happy to throw us and our children to the dogs.

ProfessionalBarren · 27/10/2018 14:33

Exactly SirVix I was just pondering that. The idea that in a different thread we could ask who the pro TWAW celebrities are, and then worry that these people would be at risk from GC people is laughable.

Yes I am surprised by Alice Roberts too. Although I do understand that as women in particular face a storm of abuse for speaking out, silence can feel like the most sensible short term option. Why more MPs aren’t standing up for women is a lot more baffling.

I don’t quite understand how this silencing has been so effective, yet it has. I don’t tweet much on this either, solely becaause I am afraid of the consequences. I don’t see TRAs afraid of speaking out for their agenda. Look at Harrop, an NHS Doctor, yet he is totally unafraid of voicing his hatred of women.

BeyondAdultHumanFemale · 27/10/2018 14:19

I'll cry if AR comes out as full on TRA! 😭

Prof Robert Winston was bad enough. Spoke at a conference I was at for an hour about plasticity of the brain and the impact of assumed gender norms influencing it, then turned around and referred to "born in the wrong body" during the Q&A :(

ProfessionalBarren · 27/10/2018 14:18

Gender critical.

What is GC ?

GenderApostate · 27/10/2018 14:13

I’m surprised by Prof Alice Roberts - thought she would be GC but I’ve seen TRAs tweet her for likes .

ProfessionalBarren · 27/10/2018 13:57

I hadn’t thought of it from that perspective Tanith and as cockblocker says the question wasn’t asked with a view to forcing anyone to do or say anything. It just highlights what a dreadful situation this has become that such a discussion could raise concern that people might be targeted. People must be able to speak up about this.

OP posts:
cockblocker · 27/10/2018 13:44

Tanith - I wouldn't force anyone, I don't think that's what we're suggesting here.

cockblocker · 27/10/2018 13:42

ProfessionalBarren - I agree.
Comedians earn their living by making controversial statements whilst keeping people on side, they have no excuse not to say something about this debate. In fact I don't know how they can possibly not comment on someone like Alex Drummond, the script's already written for them.

Tanith · 27/10/2018 13:38

I’m not sure about doing the TRAs’ “outing” for them.
If someone hasn’t declared one way or the other, what right do we have to speculate, especially when it could mean them being targetted?
I hated the forced outing of people like Jodie Foster, demanding that they publicly information they preferred to keep private and this seems the same.

ProfessionalBarren · 27/10/2018 13:28

Interesting links for both Dawkins and McEwan, thank you. It’s amazing to me that this then doesn’t get ‘joined up’ in any way so there is a coherent message that not everyone is blithely accepting the TWAW narrative. I suspect this is because it might then be seen as an anti trans movement. But of course it’s not anti trans, it’s pro women, pro children, pro science, pro logic. Everyone that I know who is gender critical accepts the need for trans people to have rights and to not be discriminated against, just not at the cost of other groups or of reality.

OP posts:
cockblocker · 27/10/2018 13:23

Also his tweet was incredibly cautious and vague. I think he probably has no idea about the harms self-ID could do either.

cockblocker · 27/10/2018 13:20

I'm glad that he's said something, but telling that this isn't common knowledge and I have only so far seen this reported in the link above with an inflammatory headline on planettransgender

BeyondAdultHumanFemale · 27/10/2018 13:19

Linked the wrong article for Ian mckellan (silly google), but yes Ian mcewan has been criticised for trans-related remarks too

cockblocker · 27/10/2018 13:17

Spot on, citiesofbismuth

BeyondAdultHumanFemale · 27/10/2018 13:17

Dawkins...

cockblocker · 27/10/2018 13:16

I agree about Dawkins, he's never been afraid of speaking out and he has also previously called out sexist ideas connected to the MRA bastardisation of evolutionary theory.

BeyondAdultHumanFemale · 27/10/2018 13:14

Ian McKellan said in an article that he'd have been transed nowerdays, iirc

citiesofbismuth · 27/10/2018 13:14

I wonder what else would be tolerated if people are threatened into accepting it.

Rape
No employment rights
Slavery
Racism
Animal torture
Bestiality
Paedophilia
Forced medical treatment

Any well enough funded and vicious enough group could get what they want.

Isn't democracy supposed to protect people from tyranny? Don't we have anti terrorist legislation?

I suppose they can get away with it because it only really affects women, children and the disabled.

BeyondAdultHumanFemale · 27/10/2018 13:13

I'm sure I've seen Richard Dawkins comment on it once too, can't remember what exactly but it was on the rational science-based side

SPOFS · 27/10/2018 13:12

I think Rupert Everett has spoken out too?
