Another Woman Hounded Out of Employment...

A twitter account called @thewhitepube, run by two intensely irritating very young women, has been targetting a woman called Nina Edge for alleged 'transphobia', which has apparently culminated in her being sacked.

Excuse me WHO is running the @welshstreets account and retweeting bad terf bullshit logic?

I will loudly bang this drum tomorrow when everyone’s awake 😊 @edge_nina @welshstreets pls let me know in the meantime!! Sweet dreams Xxxxx

It appear the Welsh Streets account has become the soapbox for artist @edge_nina (who was recently commissioned to do the winter garden) to spout transphobia, does that represent the view of all involved in the Welsh Streets effort?

I understand why people followed the account in the past (because their housing activism has been good for Liverpool) but I would urge everyone to unfollow in the meantime because you are just putting your trans followers and audiences at arms length in the meantime.

SO,,,, working between Liverpool and London and living with our parents, born 7 days apart as Cancers, we are art critic baby gods and i know there's only two of us but quite frankly we are a gang.

The sound of spoilt

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 27/10/2018 12:30

Scary stuff

Anlaf · 27/10/2018 12:28

Oh dear. They are doubling down on twitter, apparently the people who disagree are also "highkey fasc"

Ngl, seeing how closely aligned TERFs n their transphobia is with the nazi/fascist alt right in our mentions has only emboldened me in my belief that both are disgusting, violent, n should be both fought n de-platformed wherever they’re encountered.

Technically the same Lass but practically very different. Art tutors earn around £250 a day, depending on how prestigious the uni is.

£250 a day, one day a week, 30 weeks a year. This is often the majority of the artists income, or at least, the only guaranteed part, for perhaps the first 10 years of an artists career.

LassWiADelicateAir · 27/10/2018 11:45

Dont know for art but for other subjects unis often use hourly paid tutors on a v casual basis. No guarantee of more work next year, or even next term. It would be easy for them to drop someone like that

Law faculties use practising solicitors as part time tutors. The benefit to the university is considerably more than the pittance paid to the solicitor. People tutor because they think it's a good thing to do, not for the income. It might be a tiny brownie point on a CV. From Nina Edge's website she seems to be in the same position.

time we reframed this as a proudly pro-woman, give no fucks movement.

I'm rather taken with the idea of a 0FG exhibition. I'd like there to be a textile section featuring banners from Leeds Spinners :)

BettyDuMonde · 27/10/2018 11:38

Visiting tutors in the arts are often reliant on these earnings to cover living expenses, it’s what enables them to be practising artists.

I think we need a fabulous group exhibition by ‘terfy’ women-artists. I bet there is a lot of them about, and it’s time we reframed this as a proudly pro-woman, give no fucks movement.

Manderleyagain · 27/10/2018 11:19

I have no knowledge apart from what I read on twitter. They described her as a temporary tutor.

Nazi Germany. Stalins USSR. Mao’s China

Gentlygently · 27/10/2018 11:10

Do we know for sure she was sacked and that this was the reason?

Charliethefeminist · 27/10/2018 11:00

When else in society have mature adults and academic professionals been hounded by kids? The parallels in history aren't pretty.

Juells · 27/10/2018 10:59

Vile abusive little bullies.

TBH I doubt that Nina Edge gives a shit. The only losers are the students.

However, it led me to google her, and I absolutely love the photo on her home page www.ninaedge.com/

Charliethefeminist · 27/10/2018 10:59

This is why I've no medals for transsexuals who've come late to the fight. They've stayed silent for years while women were targeted and demonised. And as soon as they speak up, it's for themselves. While women like Nina lose their jobs.

SunsetBeetch · 27/10/2018 10:58

"TRAs are celebrating getting art teacher sacked from Liverpool John Moores university, because she believes in the existence of objective reality. They're now aiming to get academic sacked by Oxford uni. A historian just described whats happening perfectly: it's woke McCarthyism"
