Travez Perry - violent attack at high school

This video is really shocking. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6317165/Transgender-girl-charged-brutal-high-school-attack-caught-camera-says-bullied.html

Obviously it goes without saying that bullying is wrong, and should have been dealt with by the school. But this person kicking and stomping on people who are lying on the ground, resulting in their hospitalisation? That goes far beyond a response to bullying.

A commenter on GC Reddit whose daughter attends the school in question reports that the girl who was beaten has either a broken jaw or fractured skull.

The comment is simply an example of people being motivated to excuse violence carried out by a man against a woman.

The instinct is to excuse. This means there's the need for a pretext. The trans identity provides that.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/10/2018 12:20

? Datun? I'm not sure I get that?

Datun · 26/10/2018 12:18

I watched it eventually.

This sums it up for me

'Nobody knows what Millie has gone through, and this could have just been a final straw for her. That is all speculation of course because I don't personally know her or her family

snowbear66 · 26/10/2018 12:14

Redhoodgirl
For the year ending March 2017, the majority of suspects convicted of homicide were male (76%).
I think it’s undeniable that most violence is from men.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/10/2018 12:12

All I saw was an individual who looked and acted male and had the strength of a male being extremely violent against a vulnerable woman. Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck ...

LangCleg · 26/10/2018 11:34

If just one of those kicks had gone in at a particular angle or landed a millimetre or two from where it did, that girl could be dead.

This is male violence. End of.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 26/10/2018 11:28

In how many other situations would you watch a video of a man violently beating up a woman and say 'but we don’t know what the background is to this situation'?

Angry

I cannot believe the misogyny of some posters on this thread.
Unless it turns out that the victim actually had a gun and had just been threatening the stomper with it, it makes no difference what the 'background' was and all the posts about bullying sound like nothing more than people looking for any excuse to excuse a violent man.

Pythagonal · 26/10/2018 11:22

Oh, F4, you are amusing. Are you trying to play MN bingo by seeing how many of the Rules of Misogyny you can get into one post?

RedHoodGirl · 26/10/2018 11:17

I absolutely abhor violence. But as someone said above - we don’t know what the background is to this situation? In saying that, it doesn’t mean I’m taking any ‘sides’ or saying that anyone ‘deserves’ to be attacked like that.

However, we should also make sure we don’t fall into the trap of restateing the cliche that ‘all men are attackers and all women are victims” - there are bad people in all groups, including girls! www.telegraph.co.uk/women/womens-life/11343706/The-terrifying-rise-of-the-all-girl-gang.html

pachyderm · 26/10/2018 11:13

Because they are men. You can't change sex.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 26/10/2018 10:59

This is what is happening now - TWAW and if you don’t believe it or support it giving up your space then you’ll get your head kicked it violently.
That’s what you get for not being nice.
You were asking for it really.

Badstyley · 26/10/2018 10:52

That’s horrific. I got into my share of dust ups at school and they weren’t like that, in fact I think the girls had stopped fighting in my school by the age of about 14.

What is it about these brave and stunning women and stamping and kicking people in the head when they’re on the ground? Very ladylike. I’ve seen actual women do that a total of 0 times in my nearly 37 years of life.

divorcequestions · 26/10/2018 10:38

Why do trans women who think they are women resort to being masculine with their responses to any form of disagreement?

BirdieInTheHand · 26/10/2018 10:30

That video is sickening. The poor girl being beaten, he is huge! Just look at his neck in the mugshot.

I'll bet my last pound that the "bullying" involved her stating that girls don't have penises and refusing to share a locker room.

Datun · 26/10/2018 10:24

Can't watch it.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 26/10/2018 10:15

And let’s remember folks - the narrative put out by the defense is that the victim was a bully- we shouldn’t be so quick to believe that - it hasn’t been proven.
Why are some automatically believing the male and blaming the female?

Ariclock · 26/10/2018 09:51

Have you actually watched the video feminist4? Because what I saw was a powerfully built male violently attacking two other teenagers. With that level of aggression he could have killed them, would you still be supporting him if that had happened? Like others on this thread I have been bullied for being different. It's hurtful and upsetting but you can't react with violence, society has rules for a reason.

PositivelyPERF · 26/10/2018 09:47

I can’t think why women don’t want to share spaces with trans identifying males. It’s not as if they retain Male patterned violence. Hmm

CaptSkippy · 26/10/2018 09:44

After years of bullying I finally did beat up one of my bullies. I was so out of it that I also reacted with extreme violence. The only difference was that I didn't have as much physical strength and therefore the damage I did was limited. And a teacher intervened.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 26/10/2018 09:39

Why are you posting feministif you already know the answers to your own questions?

femina*my sympathy lies squarely with the young girl and young man who was knocked out prior to the girls vicious assault.
Most people charged with a crime will always try to defend their position with justification. I’m quite confident that the abuser will be unmasked as a predatory individual whose problems do not justify the abuse of others.
Shame on everyone who does not immediately spare their empathy for the real victims.

Feminist4 · 26/10/2018 09:17

How come there is a thread started on a trans woman who retaliated violently after being bullied in the USA started by anti trans campaigners but not on male violence (that is not transgender) in the UK? I can answer that one. Because there is a desire to persecute the trans community on this website by a small group of women.

FeminaSum · 26/10/2018 09:15

Yes, it is horrid. I completely understand why some people have chosen not to watch the video.

I'm also not going to disregard video evidence of an appalling assault because it's reported in the Daily Mail.

An update from a US news site here: abc13.com/some-defending-tomball-hs-student-charged-in-fight/4554634/ - interesting to compare the headline with the fact that the only defending of Perry detailed in the article is by Perry's attorney.

You spread the horrid Daily Mail view of the world.

Danaquestionseverything · 26/10/2018 08:56

*reasonable response. Wine O'clock. 18:55pm.

Micke · 26/10/2018 08:55

There are women on these boards infiltrating Mumsnet to spread a horrid anti-trans message.

Err no - the anti-trans message is coming from this trans person who tried to kill a girl. It's on film, there's no getting away from what happened here.
