Interesting results. It's a properly conducted opinion poll which Helen Staniland crowdfunded. I've got to go in a minute so can't post all the headline findings. Maybe somebody else could do that?

Shriekingbanshee apologies, my brain is as blocked up as my nose today!

wrexhamtrans · 24/10/2018 20:40

No it doesn't. Someone who has committed a rape has a functioning penis. So even if they have breasts and have a diagnosis of gender dysphoria, they do not belong in a women's prison.

Someone who committed a rape did have a functioning penis..... with medical transition that is no longer the case

scepticalwoman · 24/10/2018 20:40

Fascinating results - and so interesting that no matter how much bullying, intimidating, roaring and silencing (and everyone being told that TWAW) , the general population really don't accept that.
It's just not the will of the people is it...

OldCrone · 24/10/2018 20:36

"Do you think a male bodied person committed for rape belongs in a women’s prison?’"

That's where it comes down to a question of self identified non diagnosed versus medically transitioned.

Gentlygently · 24/10/2018 20:34

I am actually really surprised that even 10 percent of people accept some male bodied people as women. Clearly I live in a bubble as I sort of presumed that when forced to face the reality, an even more overwhelming majority would be gender critical.

Shriekingbanshee · 24/10/2018 20:34

R0wan it was tongue in cheek, as I thought it demonstrates how very much a TWNW. Who can think so, shows what women have to go through that male doesn't and so TWNW!

Electron1 · 24/10/2018 20:33

Great piece of direct research, asking the specific questions we want answering. I hope Helen has plans to push this out widely to the media. I'm seeing my MP next weekend, I will take him copies, and email it in advance. When he says TWAW he can have a look and realise he's not backing a vote winner.

R0wantrees · 24/10/2018 20:24

The smear test question relates to the appropriateness of a transwoman (male) performing the smear test eg if they are the doctor / nurse and the patient (adult human female) has requested a female HCP.

An important case was reported last year:
inews.co.uk/news/health/nhs-woman-transgender-nurse-smear-test/

Shriekingbanshee · 24/10/2018 20:17

Just want to know about the smear test thing... Can TW have one then? Does that mean they are still a woman? ,or not. What is it that's so confusing about this

Totally agree that vast numbers are unaware of the issues, and youngsters are so brain-washed as to have no boundaries or allow themselves judgements against any!

wrexhamtrans · 24/10/2018 20:14

Wow. All I have done was to suggest the questions considered transgender as too broad a group and that would significantly impact the study.

Blarneybear · 24/10/2018 20:12

Way to make this thread all about you wrexham

arranfan · 24/10/2018 20:11

The sheer number of "Don't know" responses is fascinating and it's reasonably consistent across the age groups.

Relative to the number of people who are dodgy about the relationship of the earth and sun and basic science, I'm rather impressed by some of those majority results.

wrexhamtrans · 24/10/2018 20:10

Your point ? Am I not allowed an opinion because I'm trans?

Blarneybear · 24/10/2018 20:10

Its not really a discussion though is it wrexham

We're kind of talking about something else, sorry if its not what you want to discuss

LangCleg · 24/10/2018 20:08

www.crowdfunder.co.uk/women-ask

We'd like to run an unambiguous survey asking direct questions around male bodied people and female spaces, sports and short lists.

wrexhamtrans · 24/10/2018 20:07

LangCleg FFS stop trying to control a discussion just because you don't like what I say

LangCleg · 24/10/2018 20:06

FFS. Stop banging on about transsexuals. The whole point of this poll was to test opinion where the respondents were informed that not all TW have surgically or medically transitioned.

LangCleg · 24/10/2018 20:04

I just worry that the brainwashing program will in time be effective

I honestly don't. Sunlight is the best disinfectant, as they say and, for the one question that we could track across time with professional polling, the support has dropped like a stone, including among that youngest demographic. I have to go now but WoS did publish his full breakdowns from PanelBase - I'll try and dig them out later.

wrexhamtrans · 24/10/2018 20:03

"Do you think a male bodied person committed for rape belongs in a women’s prison?’"

That's where it comes down to a question of self identified non diagnosed versus medically transitioned.

A self identified person still represents a risk to women.

A medically transitioned person is a very different story,

LangCleg · 24/10/2018 20:02

I'm guessing people aren't think of Karen White when asked these questions.

Well, there are bound to be a group of hard core genderists in any representative segment of the population. The encouraging thing is that this hard core is only 12% of the population, no matter how loudly the activists shriek and how much their powerful and influential backers try to steer public opinion.

The public, it seems, has wisdom!

QuietContraryMary · 24/10/2018 20:02

"QuietContraryMary - even among the 18-24 year-olds, however, positive support for the various transactivist wants struggles to make even 25%."

I agree, I just worry that the brainwashing program will in time be effective. I mean clearly, if there's strong public disapproval of a program then it's hopefully not going to happen, but if at some point the population is 1/3 for, 1/3 against, 1/3 don't know, then that could go through.

There was outright majority support for 'transwomen with penises are men', 'no penises in women's sport', 'no penises in women's changing rooms', and 'penis people should not go in women's prisons'

AspieAndProud · 24/10/2018 20:00

I’d like to ask

(a) ‘Do you think a male bodied person committed for theft belongs in a women’s prison?’

and

(b) ‘Do you think a male bodied person committed for rape belongs in a women’s prison?’

Because the difference between these cases isn’t their gender.

If transwomen are women then they all belong in the female estate, not just the safe ones.

CountFosco · 24/10/2018 19:58

12% think a person who was born male and has male genitalia but identifies as a woman should be incarcerated in a women's prison

I'm guessing people aren't think of Karen White when asked these questions.

QuietContraryMary · 24/10/2018 19:58

"Except look at the results for smear tests? I think they are confused. "

The smear test results say that TW should be allowed to perform smear tests if it's made clear that they are TW. That's surely no different from a male nurse doing a smear test with consent? Also permissible.

wrexhamtrans · 24/10/2018 19:57

LangCleg the study ask questions that are so broad to be meaningless. Just because you don't like what I have to say doesn't give you a right to suppress what I have to say.
