TBH, the whole attitude to Madigan is one of the unattractive sides of gender critical views (to which I am generally sympathetic).
She was appointed a local Labour women's officer, not some national, influential position. I don't see anything wrong with a man being a woman's officer, especially at a local level, and I don't see anything wrong with it being a trans woman
Did she respond with dignity, wisdom and equanimity to everything thrown at her? No - she's 19 FFS and being attacked on all sides!
'What did she do for women? she just went on about trans issues!' - well, seeing as everyone went on at her for being trans, we don't know what she'd have been like if she'd been left to it.
I'm not saying she's a saint or a marvellous person or a good role model, but she's a young human being and it wasn't fair to make someone so young and inexperienced, who just went in to help on a local level, where she might have gained some understanding of women's issues, a national figure for sneering and abuse, and it's rather tainted the whole argument unfortunately.
