TG day of remembrance

When did 20 November become the transgender Day Of Remembrance?

Is there an International Women's Day of Remembrance? We bloody well need to get onto it given the numbers of us who are actually killed every single day. And given that the majority of women who are murdered are killed by men, that's anti-women (adult human female, to be clear - and that's not exclusionary, trans women don't want to be included anyway, they've made their own day they can't now complain about not being in ours).

And I do hope that they'll be remembering the trans people killed by other trans people. Because there are a fair few of them too.

I don’t agree with a lot of Caroline Farows views but would never ever contemplate anything whatsoever the way TRAs are. I am actually worried for her & family. Fucking wrong to be sat at home with kids frightened. Who knows what capable of that’s the scary thing if they already stalking harassing, intimidating, doxxing, ringing her home, add blackmail also and yet doesn’t seem a matter of Police Urgency. 🤬

StrangeLookingParasite · 26/10/2018 00:35

You are the scaremongers. Shame on you.

You are an exaggerator, shame on you.

AspieAndProud · 26/10/2018 00:17

I think Munroe meant that the average age of a transwoman of colour is 35 (because of the high rates of transwomen murdered in South American countries) and presumably when they wrote that ridiculous tweet they were 31.

Even if Munroe was a Brazilian prostitute the fact that she’s lived to 31 already would mean she’d have to adjust her life expectancy accordingly. Her life wouldn’t become more dangerous as she approaches 35.

The higher mortality rate for younger prostitutes would skew the statistics. A high mortality rate for the young and a low rate for the over thirties could give a mean life expectancy of 35 but the likelihood of dying would diminish as she got older. It wouldn’t peak at 35.

Is she confusing the mean (what most people mean by average) with the mode (the most likely age at which to die)?

A mode of 35 seems rather high for such a dangerous profession.

Feminist4 · 26/10/2018 00:03

Sadly, you are wrong.

theOtherPamAyres · 26/10/2018 00:01

I am a parent if a trans daughter Pamayres and your post doesn’t ring true.

Let's just say that my interaction with the family was very difficult for me. At first, Mum was incensed about my alternative take on the risks. Puzzlingly, for me, she wasn't persuaded by facts that appeared to downplay her anxieties.

The transgender recruiting sites, that fill young people's heads with falsehoods, have a lot to answer for. The trans organisations that perpetuate the myths of murders, assaults and suicides, have a lot to answer for. I think parents need a lot more information that is accurate and up to date, to ease their own anxieties.

Feminist4 · 25/10/2018 23:48

You are the scaremongers. Shame on you.

catkind · 25/10/2018 23:47

The link to women's rights comes when the painting of trans people as victims, including misleading murder stats, is used as a tool to beat down discussion of women's rights. I'm glad to hear some of you are using the event sincerely in your own different ways. Disappointed you're still berating us with ways trans people are at risk instead of joining us in condemning the scaremongering which has negative impact on trans people's well-being as well as being used as a political weapon against women's rights. That feels like it ought to be common ground.

VerbeenaBeeks · 25/10/2018 23:24

Bespin and Earlywalker, I’m with you. The views of many posters here are deplorable. It seems to be a small group though, that are vociferous and pop up time and time again to spread their vile beliefs

@Feminist4 me too, I'm with you and the others. I recognise your name from a thread I was reading earlier and was silently thinking as reading good on you as you had some good points and held your own in a sea of tirade against you.

Feminist4 · 25/10/2018 23:23

Dubious post. Doesn’t stack up at all- I am a parent if a trans daughter Pamayres and your post doesn’t ring true.

VerbeenaBeeks · 25/10/2018 23:21

The women on here are total wankas

@littlbrowndog not sure which "side" that's aimed at, but I can assure you I'm a woman (non trans) and agree with you that this thread is awful.
We're not all saying that there should be no day or why should there be one in the first place.

theOtherPamAyres · 25/10/2018 23:12

how does a trans day of rememberance directly impact women’s rights?
@earlywalker

It's not about women's rights, it's about being economical with the truth and spreading fear of crime.

The fear of crime is a cruel burden for transgender people. I know this because I have seen it and I have helped a family coping with a transgender child, to put the deaths, assaults, hate crimes and suicides into a perspective, based on facts, victim profiles, circumstances of cases, geographical areas and hotspots.

Having seen the impact of scaremongering on a young person's mental health, and the impact on a family who believed the myths and half-truths, I would ask the organisers to be more honest.

Why would you want to increase fear of crime and make transgender people believe that they are more at risk, when they are not?

Talking ill of the dead

Who is talking ill of the dead? I will admit that I haven't seen some of the posts on this thread, but if people doing that then report it and I'm sure it will be deleted.

Earlywalker · 25/10/2018 22:54

I know right? Talking ill of the dead, saying people don’t deserve a rememberance day - disgusting.

Do you want to answer my question?

littlbrowndog · 25/10/2018 22:50

The women on here are total wankas

littlbrowndog · 25/10/2018 22:48

Disgusting behaviour

Feminist4 · 25/10/2018 22:45

I haven’t noticed any so-called TRAs on here. The only poor behaviour is from the women on here who wish to exclude trans people.

Earlywalker · 25/10/2018 22:44

Bye, IKeepFlouncing shame you’re leaving so soon, you’ve been so vocal. I only had one question for you. After all, I responded to your things? Just wondering how the rememberance day directly impacts women’s rights? By leaving it seems as if you don’t want to answer my question, I’m sure it wasn’t deliberate. Hope the hoody helps to warm your cold heart Flowers

IKeepFlouncing · 25/10/2018 22:40

Awe have you tried Netmums they much nicer over there, although doubt your ended up being allowed to stay for long.

I did check another main parenting site they been blessed free of TRAs, cos I’m horrible meanie I can’t share the link.

Lastly a bit confused? That the understatement of the year I’m baffled as fuck at the current goings on from TRAs towards women. Just waiting to wake up to news Theresa May been suspended for transphobic speech by referring herself as a woman.

Like to leave thread on a happy note, so I sharing news I got notification my woman hoodie has been dispatched 🙌🏻

"I think Munroe meant that the average age of a transwoman of colour is 35 (because of the high rates of transwomen murdered in South American countries) and presumably when they wrote that ridiculous tweet they were 31."

This was complete bollocks though, it was usual TRA fake stats.

The stat they are using here is the average age at death of sex workers in one particularly violent part of South America (possibly Brazil as a whole, I don't really remember).

So it was ONLY transgender sex workers who had been found dead, and it wasn't the US, it was a part of South America, so not only does it have no relation to Munroe, it has no relation to Americans, nor to to South Americans, nor even to South American sex workers, because it was not 'life expectancy',

Earlywalker · 25/10/2018 22:37

Tell me what is your issue then? Becuase all I’ve done is repeat what’s been said and question it. Albeit substituted ‘woman’s spaces’ for toilets in the above quote.

I’d love a straight answer - how does a trans day of rememberance directly impact women’s rights?

Becuase that is what this is all about right, woman’s rights? None of you are transphobic are you? It’s all for the good of woman. So I’d love to know.

littlbrowndog · 25/10/2018 22:36

Deplorable disgusting blah blah
😂😂😂😂😂😂

littlbrowndog · 25/10/2018 22:35

There’s a surprise f4

StrangeLookingParasite · 25/10/2018 22:30

But people seem to think that it’s all been constructed to gain sympathy so they can get in our toilets... that’s the issue, yes?

No. It isn't.

The disingenuity of your arguments makes me grit my teeth.

Feminist4 · 25/10/2018 22:25
