Mumsnet being defamed/libelled about Christmas?

I've seen this posted by a friend on facebook today. He says "I got it from a media source, & it's apparently embargoed until midnight tonight as I think it may be hitting national news outlets some time this week. I don't have such reporting restrictions, so here it is." Direct quote.

People (not mutual friends thankfully) are commenting, a few have asked if it's a spoof but most seem to believe it. I've declared that it's absolute bollocks but even so. "Militant feminist forum"? Fuck off!

Besides, if we banned Christmas we'd lose half of AIBU at a stroke because people wouldn't have anything to argue with their families about....... Wink

I'm still varying between amusement and anger here, why are people so very gullible and not engaging their brains these days?

Oops forgot the ed on my bold username reply.

[Though you must not neglect to boil the ham - it gets all the meat up to temperature and prevents it from getting dry]

VickyEadie · 21/10/2018 14:59

Admittedly we don’t like people dragging religion into our annnual week-long booze and chocolate binge.

I was talking to a British Jewish bloke a few days ago and we agreed that religion has no place in Xmas.

RadicalFern · 21/10/2018 14:58

Tanith My friend swears by the turkey crown - not so much of it and easier to cook well than the whole bird. Goose delicious but expensive. Cooking a ham also a good bet, you can glaze it with something delicious and enjoy splendid ham sandwiches for a week or so afterwards if that’s your jam.

The virgin birth prediction was surely an example of a horoscope, it was revealed in the stars etc.... I mean horoscopes have been around for longer than Cosmopolitan has.

I always check mine to see if I'm going to have a good Christmas or be pregnant, science innit...

titchy · 21/10/2018 14:56

Oh dear. They're going to look rather foolish next week aren't they

AspieAndProud · 21/10/2018 14:56

Wasn't it mostly woke councils who were alleged to be out to ban Xmas? 'Winterval' and all that?

I’ve certainly never heard an atheist wanting to ban Christmas and I’ve been an atheist all my life.

Admittedly we don’t like people dragging religion into our annnual week-long booze and chocolate binge.

IKeepFlouncing · 21/10/2018 14:55

Oh Bigotwoman now you given TRAs idea, they will be on the batphone discussing baby Jesus and getting the whole transphobic school Xmas plays cancelled.

Don’t tell them Santa & Mrs Claus are not real as I’m sure they be posting hate mail to the North Pole!

Tartyflette · 21/10/2018 14:53

Hahahaha. So bad it's almost good.
Tanith how about goose? Utterly delicious and as festive as you want it to be. More expensive,, but it doesn't outstay its welcome and hang around forever like turkey does.

Xenia · 21/10/2018 14:49

It's a breach of the trademark of the Times.
They should have added Mary was only 12 or 14 years old and engaged to a much older man if they wanted to give the full picture.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 21/10/2018 14:48

It's a ridiculous fake. Personally I'd be ripping the piss out of your friend for not noticing the very obvious typos and other errors. What a plank! Grin

VickyEadie · 21/10/2018 14:45

Between woke councils and prisons serving 5 Christmas dinners whilst pensioners starve, it's no wonder Britain ain't what it used to be.*

And schools banning nativity plays, remember.

(I visit schools as part of my job and you can't walk a feckin' step in a primary school from November onwards without hearing 'Little Donkey').

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/10/2018 14:45

It's interesting that someone is trying to make people believe that Mumsnet feminists have nothing important to say.

abacucat · 21/10/2018 14:43

We might go to my parents this Christmas. They refuse to eat a traditional xmas dinner as they don't like it and don't bother with a tree. So yes, it must be true OP.

Trying to decide on an alternative to Turkey. None of our family likes it.

VickyEadie · 21/10/2018 14:35

Does this mean we are third in line behind atheists and Muslims - the other two groups supposedly out to stop Christmas?

Wasn't it mostly woke councils who were alleged to be out to ban Xmas? 'Winterval' and all that?

MaisyPops · 21/10/2018 14:34

Christmas already?
Bloody hell.
I'm still preparing myself for social media claims that Muslims hate Remembrance Sunday and have a conspiracy to murder anyone wearing a poppy.

(Already had the illegal immigrants get more benefits than a pensioner share this week).

MissBartlettsconscience · 21/10/2018 14:33

It reads more like the Daily Mash tbh.

AspieAndProud · 21/10/2018 14:31

Or fourth, behind the EU because tinsel is a health and safety risk?

Batteriesallgone · 21/10/2018 14:23

Oh and I realise there’s a spelling mistake in my poorly written post!! Maybe there’s a future for me in poorly composed Facebook histrionics

Batteriesallgone · 21/10/2018 14:21

Is it the writing style or the spelling mistakes, that so clearly scream ‘authetic’ to your friends do you think? Grin

Mumsnet is really coming under attack these days isn’t it. Was it Atwood who said men don’t like women talking.

pastabest · 21/10/2018 14:21

They haven't even bothered to spend enough time here to realise that the mods/staff use their real names

The quote from forum mod 'wonderwomxn1918' gives it away somewhat.

groundcontroltomontydon · 21/10/2018 14:18

Humans are a waste of opposable thumbs
