@jimwaterson
Trans activists have set off smoke bombs outside the entrance to Northcliffe House, HQ of the Daily Mail/Metro/Independent. Unclear if they're protesting against the Mail - or the Metro taking the advert last week - but staff leaving by side entrance.

Consensus seems to be they're protesting against The Metro, which took an anti-trans ad last week. Unfortunately Metro print edition staff don't work Fridays. (The entirely separate Metro website has also had some trouble over the sister paper taking the ad, apparently.)

Dont get me wrong.................the bloke in the article ive linked brought it on himself. Totally And the remark about Grenfell was disrespectful and bloody offensive.

But what the trans activists did on Friday dosnt even seem to warrant any interest from the authorities.

And there have been plenty of threats from them telling women to "go and die in a fire"

FekkoTheLawyer · 21/10/2018 09:34

This is mad student politics in steroids.

I remember stupid pranks and right in nonsense when I was a student (although there were no death threats, bomb threats or smoke bombs).

Maggie! Maggie! Maggie! out out out
What go we want? Student grants! When do we want them? Now?
2-4-6-8 we want funding, we won't wait!

Yes - get the police involved and I mean properly. Someone I'd going to get hurt or killed at this rate. And it could have been prevented. It's like giving a child a gun to play with then be suprised when they blow their siblings head off.

That’s a good piece ClitsRus

It’s a shame they said the consultant closed on Friday.

Also this in the DM "So, let’s tell our local MPs what we think. And what I think is that we’re being asked to accept a lie, that gender is all in the mind. People can do what they like. But changing the law to go along with the pretence, that’s another thing altogether."

Bonions · 21/10/2018 08:52

I still can’t see any mention in the news but the daily mail have written these two articles this weekend:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6299053/amp/Trans-Corbynista-born-man-lands-womens-role.html

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6298053/Trans-cyclist-defends-championship-win-3rd-place-competitor-complained-NOT-fair.html

So that’s women losing out spaces in sport and politics both touched upon.

I'm surprised it hasn't been reported at all either.

Rumbledore · 21/10/2018 08:46

Road closed and building evacuated. Businesses interrupted. Surely this can’t be swept under the carpet?!

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 21/10/2018 08:44

This is way beyond trans rights, someone, or some people in parliament are adamant to get this through for their local own reasons.

Uterusowner · 21/10/2018 08:37

Nail on head CaptainKirksSpookyghost.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 21/10/2018 08:35

Because this is coming down from high up.

Rumbledore · 21/10/2018 08:21

Are the police investigating this? If not, why not??

Turph · 21/10/2018 01:30

Pro tip for would-be terrorists. Eschew the long-range planning and sinister secrecy, slip on a frock, slap on some lippy and clap a bad wig on your head. You’re practically untouchable then
Not exactly stealth though Grin

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 21/10/2018 01:28

US Republican frontrunner Donald Trump is so confident in his support base that he said he could stand on New York’s Fifth Avenue “and shoot somebody” and still not lose voters.

It’s the same thing isn’t it? Everyone seems so mesmerised by this bizarre narrative that an action that would cost someone else at least a night in prison, goes unsansctioned and unnoticed.

hellandhairnets · 21/10/2018 00:59

Yeah, I think the vulpine one has been mentioned before on here as a possibility.

The issue for me is not who as much as why is everybody apparently scared to dissent.

PurpleCrowbar · 21/10/2018 00:34

What does the [redacted] say?

Is he also a bit fantastic?

May be on completely the wrong rabbit hole here, but it would fit?

BigotedWoman · 20/10/2018 23:44

Does he go 'boom boom!' ?

PurpleCrowbar · 20/10/2018 23:40

Is the horse a bit vulpine, in a ginger furred sort of way?

AspieAndProud · 20/10/2018 23:34

Is his name Cockney rhyming slang?

FoldyRoll · 20/10/2018 23:21

Is that a clue, Carrots?

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 20/10/2018 21:43

I’ve picked my horse.

LittlePaintBox · 20/10/2018 20:35

Maybe they're being denied the oxygen of publicity.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 20/10/2018 20:16

Sweepstake anybody? Play for biscuits?

Ereshkigal · 20/10/2018 18:40

Indeed!

LittlePaintBox · 20/10/2018 18:24

FoldyRoll:

However if I was a journalist who was significantly delayed in getting my after work pint on a Friday afternoon by a bunch of blokes in Tesco Free From dresses playing shit 90's MOR and spraying blue smoke around, then I may very well find that any sympathy I may have previously had with their position evaporated and I may want to serve my revenge cold, in many sly digs in many articles over many months, which as the DM know is a far better way to manipulate public opinion than a single ranty piece.

This ^^^^

Pretty poor PR strategy to upset journalists.
