Fucking hell, women really are being silenced and ignored aren't we!

bluechameleon · 19/10/2018 14:08

I was metaphorically shouting at the radio (under my breath so as not to wake the baby). How can the BBC claim not to be biased when it allows "debates" to be conducted with no right to reply from one side? I sent a long message to the website, which will almost certainly have no effect but we can but try. I wish I'd mentioned the lack of women though.

TeenTimesTwo · 19/10/2018 14:06

I've sent a one liner to WATO asking where the women were in the debate.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 19/10/2018 14:05

Debbie was basically saying TRA are going about it the wrong way. Debbie believe that by talking to women, we can be persuaded to give up sex segregation. Debbie doesn't believe dismissing women will work long term, but dialogue will.

Imnobody4 · 19/10/2018 14:03

I just can't believe the complete abdication of journalistic integrity at the BBC. Get the sense the presenter was in a state of abject terror of saying the wrong thing.

LittlePearl · 19/10/2018 14:02

EMAIL WORLD AT ONE!

I've just complained that YET AGAIN they have not one natal woman speaking on this issue. Debbie was brilliant but it's still four men discussing issues that are primarily about women.....how can they not see this?

borntobequiet · 19/10/2018 14:01

Well just complained, same as I did this morning after Today.
I said Debbie (like Kristina (sp?)) this morning was entirely sensible and I hold her in high regard but why no actual born women?

vaginafetishist · 19/10/2018 13:58

Well there were men there last year. One woman had a t shirt on that said 'Pussy Power' and her boyfriend was with her.

Ekphrasis · 19/10/2018 13:54

I think FiLiA is including their art awards but seems to so far fly under the radar.

Doesn't what Paris said show that the exemptions in the EA are useless? Imagine going to any kind of 'woman only' thing and Paris Lees is there! (Not that I have seen anything advertised as 'women only'for about 15 years.)

Ekphrasis · 19/10/2018 13:52

We are men.

We don't care about women.

We won't listen to women.

Silly little women.

Pats heads.

The usual lies peddled regarding suicide and Gay fear, and shamefacedly white women refusing to use the same toilets as black women or 'people of colour' as they, the non binary male put it (I wonder what toilet they use). Paris Lees seems obsessed with toilets and doesn't seem to have an understanding of boundaries.

They also get depressed if misgendered, not even a distinction between mistaken or deliberate - you couldn't make this up.

They and Lees ignored the transsexual in the room. Debbie Hayton was brilliant.

adulthumanandtired · 19/10/2018 13:51

Note how they have all implemented the advice from the “we’re still here” conference and sound ever so reasonable on radio and tv.
We see you.

AbsintheFriends · 19/10/2018 13:51

I think PL's default stance of snippy and superior doesn't do them any favours when trying to win over people who have no knowledge of this debate.

Especially those people who might have seen PL on Celebrity Island Grin

FlowersAndHerts · 19/10/2018 13:50

I think that was designed to lead to peak trans, really. I'm so angry, I want to march on the bbc!

MrsSnippyPants · 19/10/2018 13:50

Are there no actual journalists at the BBC? Are there just people identifying as Journalists?
I only ask because they never seem to have done any research prior to these discussions, otherwise they would pull people up up when they spout blatant lies!

vaginafetishist · 19/10/2018 13:49

What about that giggling presenter? Clueless. Not happy about Debbie being the gc voice, it compounds the whole idea that men will decide what is reasonable.

MsMcWoodle · 19/10/2018 13:49

4 fucking men. Sorry Debbie - you are great but still - NO WOMEN.

Ekphrasis · 19/10/2018 13:47

The non binary person would have peaked a few - or puzzled many

Just about got a full house on my bingo card

Me too!

Lottapianos · 19/10/2018 13:47

'I have literally never heard PL talk about anything else.'

Same here. So bloody disingenuous

Debbie was great but why on earth was she not invited into the studio? The studio debate was the usual ridiculous nonsense - gay card, race card, self harm, fear, assigned at birth, cis-this, cis-that. And absolutely no challenge whatsoever from the presenter. I'm so frustrated but so unsurprised

Ekphrasis · 19/10/2018 13:46

Yep.

Full bingo.

And totally ignored what Debbie had said about respecting women.

Zero respect given.

OP posts:
R0wantrees · 19/10/2018 13:46

That was extraordinary.

I do hope someone can transcribe it.

Journalists need a briefing paper to deal with onslaughts like that.

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 19/10/2018 13:46

Idiot man - you were 'recognised' not 'assigned' male from birth. I don't even know who you are, can't even see you and I can clearly 'recognise' you as male. Feckin nutters

AnchorMum · 19/10/2018 13:45

Just about got a full house on my bingo card.
