Interesting timing, releasing this the day before the consultation closes: www.fawcettsociety.org.uk/Handlers/Download.ashx?IDMF=bfa3ae68-abee-478d-b59b-71572881b5a0

tl;dr let's all be nice and inclusive

I wonder what it is like to live with a brain that allows you to state "transwomen are women" and to believe it?

I mean, they aren't. Biology is.

We can be as supportive and pleasant to individuals who feel any kind of dysphoria, but do we really have to believe 6 impossible things before breakfast at Milliways (which also does not really exist, no matter how some people may wish otherwise)

Charliethefeminist · 19/10/2018 07:47

Orange, most of the public campaigners, Woman's Place etc, are lifelong socialists. Also not transphobic Hmm Check your facts.

pennydrew · 19/10/2018 07:30

Right wing? What an idiotic comment 🤦🏽‍♀️ Most of us are left.

No, they’re not.

orangesnail · 19/10/2018 03:39

Great stance from Fawcett society, and a brave stance to take when faced with the backlash from the reactionary right wing transphobic lobby. Trans women are women. Trans women are adult human females.

powershowerforanhour · 19/10/2018 00:51

Fawcett Society- women (actual women with XX chromosomes, you know, the female kind) have neither the inclination nor the means to rape other women.

What an embarrassment to the female sex.

misscockerspaniel · 18/10/2018 23:05

The Fawsett Society needs to take heed of the neutral Howard League for Prison Reform and not the heavily biased Stonewall mob.

anotherGCacademic · 18/10/2018 23:03

Too far gone but also need subs badly so leaving will send a message.

Companion42 · 18/10/2018 21:53

Sorry

Forward to meeting other feminists in real life rather than online.

Is it worth sticking it out and hoping to influence opinion or are they too far gone?

Companion42 · 18/10/2018 21:52

I'm very disappointed too. Particularly because I've only just joined the society and was really looking forwa

Papyrus · 18/10/2018 19:37

I’ve just cancelled my monthly direct debit too. Very disappointed.

Oldstyle · 18/10/2018 19:31

Once upon a time before the world went completely mad I'd only ever heard of 'hollow laughter' in fiction. Now I could hollow laugh for Britain.

concretesieve · 18/10/2018 19:10

I'm not a Fawcett member, but really sad and disappointed about this. I've been of the Suffragist persuasion for a long time and also love Philippa Fawcett. Really sorry to see this.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 18/10/2018 16:59

Fuck off, Fawcett Society and take wee Owen and Jeremy Corbyn with you.

Imnobody4 · 18/10/2018 16:56

I'm really concerned the gov constantly claims they consult women's organisations but don't consider whether they actually represent a proper cross section of women. I haven't given any group apart from FPFW etc to speak for me.
On what basis are Fawcett Society empowered to do this. Am in despair.
Does anyone know what plans are for FPFW and WPUK for the future?

2BorNot2Bvocal · 18/10/2018 16:18

Fawcett Society are the public point of contact and secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Sex Equality. Excuse me while I laugh hollowly in a corner.

ImPreCis · 18/10/2018 14:58

If anyone wondered if it is possible to laugh and cry at the same time, I can confirm that it is indeed not only possible but actually achieved by me, five minutes ago, sitting a my kitchen table reading that pile of waffleshite from TFS.

FFSFFSFFS · 18/10/2018 14:55

Trans women aren't women Fawcetr Society. Hth.

Jesus wept.

Nicknamesalltaken · 18/10/2018 14:45

I thought the FS were going to stand up for women with the inequality of austerity. They fell quiet.

placemats · 18/10/2018 14:45

The other conspiracy theory regarding trans is that it's used to soften the pornography laws.

Nicknamesalltaken · 18/10/2018 14:44

Another concern is that if service users, especially if they are survivors of rape or other male- perpetrated violence, perceive trans women as ‘male-bodied’, they will be put off accessing trans- inclusive services. This could be perceived as a transphobic position but it would equally be wrong to write off the fears and trauma of vulnerable women.

Who would consider this transphobic??
Where the actual fuck is the compassion for WOMEN in this scenario.

Angry
Penny1976 · 18/10/2018 14:38

Seconded Placemats.

placemats · 18/10/2018 14:37

Rats

There is a fabulous conspiracy theory that it is ultra right wing organisations that support and give money to trans issues. It's done to enforce gender stereo types and to eradicate homosexuality and lesbianism.

LorettasBox · 18/10/2018 14:36

Yeah Rat, and the Fawcett society doesn't appear to know what a woman is, so that's going to a be a problem. One you share so I can see how this must be simply overwhelming for you and tin foil battery is the natural conclusion.

Away with you now, and your silliness. I'm sure I need to find a cake to ice.
