As a conservative voter I am please that David Davies is vocal in his opposition to "self identification" however I do wonder if all those people who now hang on to his every word with regard to this issue are Conservative voters or just using him because he just happens to speak and write common sense. How many will run away at the next election to vote for Labour?

If that is true then why do you not have a Labour MP who is equally as vocal as David Davies?

This is not a left or right wing issue.

He is articulating a view held by 82% of the population. Which is great.

The bigger question is where are the others. He should not be the only MP willing to stick a head above the parapet.

Glad he is talking about farming issues as well. He seems decent and presumably a good constituency MP.

I find it interesting that on his Twitter account, anything he mentions with regard to the GRA attracts significantly more engagement that when he tweets about other everyday issues that are arguably just as important for our country. Example only 6 "likes" when tweeting about the dangers of speeding vehicles only 2 "likes" when tweeting about the farming community. I do not think it is unreasonable to assume from this observation that he is being used by left wing feminists to amplify their voices. Why do you not have a left wing voice to support you?

He has helped with a venue for meetings, and turned up to demonstrations. I think quite a few campaigners have met him personally. People have a lot of respect for him.

I don't see how that should translate into supporting every Conservative Party candidate though. Perhaps they will use their judgement to assess the available candidates when the time comes.

We are not all tribal. Just because I agree with Mr Davies’ views on this and applaud him for speaking out doesn’t mean I agree with other things he says. I agree on certain things with individual politicians from all parties - I’be even agreed with Nigel Farage once or twice.
Many of us listen to what is said by all political parties and choose the least worst option based on the current state of the nation. We don’t “run away and vote”for whoever. How stupid do you think we are?
(God knows we could do with a sane electoral system that doesn’t disenfranchise over half the nation on a permanent basis.)
