Looks like it will come up later in the programme.

How dare two middle class white men discuss anything about women of colour. How dare they discuss anything about women, period, and our identity. It was so unbalanced - I think it must have been deliberate to have no natal women.

Don't be silly - they won't discuss periods. They're icky! And transphobic and excluding.

Binglebong · 10/10/2018 23:25

Of course not. Because people might be confused why the billboard is an issue - they don't want to draw attention to that. While with this one it just shows how silly the little feminists are. Bless.

CoolCarrie · 10/10/2018 23:24

Can anyone share the piece at all?

Hulo · 10/10/2018 23:23

What, women doesn't include women of colour (and nor does womyn)? So what have I been all these years? I mean...I just can't...no.....

WTFisawomxn · 10/10/2018 23:23

I sniff an orchestrated strategy in all this.

I'd never seen the spelling womxn until it was a sudden bombardment, and now I see Trans Media Watch publicly distancing themselves from it as though it's an actual thing.

It's just a publicity stunt to claw back some credibility after the ridiculous billboard situation with Posie imo.

Yes, I suspect something similar. This all seems very much a way to get back at the "wrong kind" of feminists.
Did the BBC cover the billboard on TV?

I suspect they thought about having a woman to discuss the issue, and decided against it because she might have let slip the awful truth
that transwomen ...

pombear · 10/10/2018 23:22

Seriously?

If anything they should have had a 'woman of colour' (as described by Wellcome) on seeing as they were women who were shoved in the same category of men who feel like they're women, according to Wellcome's original explanation.

Even if they can't recognise misogyny at play, why is this overt racism ignored by the BBC and Newsnight?

Volant · 10/10/2018 23:22

What on earth is the logic behind the statement that the term excludes women of colour?

littlbrowndog · 10/10/2018 23:22

Ffs am gonna stomp of to my bed in a fizzing fucking temper after that total sit wankery

enrichedatthegulags · 10/10/2018 23:20

How on earth can they justify having 2 male-bodies sat there telling women what they can call themselves?

WTFisawomxn · 10/10/2018 23:20

Transwomxn are womxn seems a more logical statement.

Then women (of all colours, backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, abilities, shapes, ages and sizes) can keep their own words.

Woman: adult human female.

Seems like word as gone out that “ kind” is the new woke word.

Ffs

wejammin · 10/10/2018 23:19

WTF even was that? An issue about women and in particular women of colour and they picked a white trans woman who transitioned aged 50 to discuss it with a white male presenter.

I am fuming.

ExtremistParanoidBigot · 10/10/2018 23:19

WTF did I just watch?

TwllBach · 10/10/2018 23:18

Can I watch this on catchup I wonder?

If they’re going to change women to womxn, how are they pronouncing that? Not only is it fucking bullshit but the early years teacher in me is howling at the stars. Fucking womxn. Fucks my phonics lessons right up doesn’t it??

If it’s womxn, do we have mxn also? Or would it be myn? Or how about mfuckingwomenocersincethebeginningoftime...n? That has a nice look to it.

Procrastinator1 · 10/10/2018 23:18

I am absolutely furious. Really a step too far. How about a cancellation of direct debits for licence fees?

Binglebong · 10/10/2018 23:18

I would imagine they are pretending the metro ad doesn't exist. Or at least the smart ones are. The billboard appears to have at least taught a few about the Streisand effect.

littlbrowndog · 10/10/2018 23:18

Yeps Sophie said that
The word women does not include wome n of colour
Ffs ffs ffs ffs

Binglebong · 10/10/2018 23:17

Honestly my rage is rising tonight.

elephantoverthehill · 10/10/2018 23:17

I'm so utterly confused by that piece. Journalism? Confused. No mention of the Metro advert today to add any balance or indeed a woman.

Binglebong · 10/10/2018 23:16

No because they also said it doesnt include "women of colour". Apparently women only means white middle class women.

Which rather begs the question of why transwomen want it?

Binglebong · 10/10/2018 23:14

Yes, i am offended that Sophie is on tonight. They are quite right.

Frankenterfer · 10/10/2018 23:14

If women doesn't include trans women, then she agrees that trans women are not women?

Binglebong · 10/10/2018 23:14

"Transwomen aren't offended by the spelling of women. FUCK OFF. JUST FUCK THE HELL OFF.
