Police called to Green Party Conference

They were handing out leaflets outside the Green Party Conference.

The police were called by TRA activists. I have to assume that the callers described a major disturbance involving transphobic protesters because five officers and a police horse attended.

This is a council building, but the leafleters were moved on nevertheless.

Inside the Conference, the TRas were busy defacing notices.

Will no-one raise this interference with our democratic right in Parliament? Will no-one direct the police to be more circumspect about allegations of transphobic attacks?

It will peaktrans a few more, don't worry.

LangCleg · 07/10/2018 09:06

I can't even type a sensible comment about this, so furious am I.

RhythmStix · 07/10/2018 09:04

The BristolThree eh? And there was me thinking the Birmingham Six or the SecretSeven were mixed up in major crim stiff. Wink

Leafleting though....it's LITERALLY evil to LITERALLY deny the LITERAL existence of transfolk. LITERALLY.

HandsOffMyRights · 07/10/2018 09:03

Protected their whole lives. Now that's privilege.

Stonewall et al really push transgender hate crime reporting.

They have a huge part to play in this.

Is it trying to replicate what they do on twitter (mobbing, reporting, getting women chucked off)?

Then guess is, it wasn't just one person and just one phone call. But coordinated scripted phone calls.

Floisme · 07/10/2018 08:59

I’m surprised they didn’t call West Yorkshire Police.

Ereshkigal · 07/10/2018 08:56

Again, a warped sense of reality where they are unable to be proportionate but instead see themselves as the centre of things. These people aren’t offended, they’re using offence as aggression

That's narcissism for you.

Bowlofbabelfish · 07/10/2018 08:53

Is it trying to replicate what they do on twitter (mobbing, reporting, getting women chucked off)?

I hadn’t thought about it like this but yes - that is a fair point. Again, a warped sense of reality where they are unable to be proportionate but instead see themselves as the centre of things. These people aren’t offended, they’re using offence as aggression

Glad the police were reasonable - the horses are gorgeous aren’t they? So calm and well trained too.

AngryAttackKittens · 07/10/2018 08:52

I imagine it being like "omg it's a bloodbath over here, 100 highly trained ninja transmisogynists are murdering us by throwing leaflets like those pointy little metal stars".

FekkoTheLawyer · 07/10/2018 08:47

The emergency services record calls don't they? I'd love to hear that call out. Can we? If we ask they have to let us don't they? I'm sure it was a calm and measured request.

😱😫😫😫😭😭😭🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

VickyEadie · 07/10/2018 08:43

I expect that they were taking the lovely horse to the horse dentist.

sexnotgender · 07/10/2018 08:26

Pretty sure that horse is smarter than the TRAs.

MnerXX · 07/10/2018 08:04

Good luck today BristolThree. Thanks for the update and glad the police (once there) were fairly sensible about it

RealGhouls · 07/10/2018 07:48

A house? A horse? I don't knoe

Artesia · 07/10/2018 07:48

Apparently Diane Abbott has tweeted about police reacting disproportionately and with excessive force. Were i on Twitter I might be tempted to reply with a picture of the three brilliant leafleteers and point out that it took four regular and one mounted policeman to subdue them.....

RealGhouls · 07/10/2018 07:47

Isn't it a bit fucking massive? That horse? Looks very calm, but it's the size of a horse!

Danaquestionseverything · 07/10/2018 07:46

[ChrysanthemumsAreMums]

Those ladies handing out sugar cubes to horses are committing literal animal abuse. Sugar can literally cause diabetes (sarcasm).

Seriously might not be a bad idea to have a supply of apples and carrots (and sugar cubes) on hand.

These TRAS have no self control. It will be their undoing.

AngryAttackKittens · 07/10/2018 07:29

My god, those women were terrifying. Leaflets? Don't know they about paper cuts?

Meanwhile, in other news, that is indeed a lovely horse. Would be a good choice for getting skittish children used to horses. Maybe we need a human equivalent to approach the sort of young people who have to retreat to their room with a teddy and a coloring book over pronouns.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/10/2018 07:24

Is he a lovely horse?

To be sure. Someone should write a song...

IFeelSorryForMillie · 07/10/2018 06:29

Really good to read your account Bristol Smile

SophoclesTheFox · 07/10/2018 06:29

Thank you for the report, BristolThree, great to hear firsthand what happened, and well done for standing your ground.

I’m gobsmacked by this toxic brew of a complete lack of any kind of resilience, zero tolerance of the views of others, mixed with this breathtaking arrogance demonstrated by the people that sicced the police on you. Who do these people think they are? Is it trying to replicate what they do on twitter (mobbing, reporting, getting women chucked off)?

They need to take a leaf out of the lovely Jubilee’s book and put themselves to bed.

If a horse comes out of a political debate better than you do, maybe it’s time for a rethink.

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 07/10/2018 06:04

The TRA probably used the word 'literally' a few times in their call. They have bit of a problem distinguishing between literal and figurative; between perception and reality
