Police called to Green Party Conference

They were handing out leaflets outside the Green Party Conference.

The police were called by TRA activists. I have to assume that the callers described a major disturbance involving transphobic protesters because five officers and a police horse attended.

This is a council building, but the leafleters were moved on nevertheless.

Inside the Conference, the TRas were busy defacing notices.

Will no-one raise this interference with our democratic right in Parliament? Will no-one direct the police to be more circumspect about allegations of transphobic attacks?

Q. Why did the police send a horse instead of a car?
A. Because it was the Green Party
[fetches coat and slinks off]

Sarahconnor1 · 07/10/2018 16:24

It's getting to the point where allegations of transphobia are becoming meaningless and when actual incidents take place no one will take it seriously.

Little boy needs to stop crying wolf.

littlbrowndog · 07/10/2018 16:21

Omg that guys tweets. They are shocking

SturdyEarmuffs · 07/10/2018 16:16

I was just coming to post that tweet! Well done posie & others. How many more calls to the rozzers are needed before someone is warned about wasting police time?

conservativeuterus · 07/10/2018 16:14

Where can I get that t-shirt?

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 07/10/2018 16:10

Oh they are such idiots. Well done those women!

Sarahconnor1 · 07/10/2018 16:09

Popchyk · 07/10/2018 16:07

The denouncers always have the most to hide, don't they?

Certainly true with the TRAs. The bigger the gob, the shadier the past.

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 07/10/2018 15:56

Oh what a fool he's made himself look. More please! That soundcloud clip is very funny. He's got the AH officious turn-of-phrase.

SturdyEarmuffs · 07/10/2018 15:46

Don't know if this has already been posted but the person who called the police 101 (see tweet here )

Has an interesting timeline himself

🤔 (I seem to be doing an awful lot of chin scratching these days...)

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 07/10/2018 15:31

Good to hear what actually happened yesterday straight from the horse's mouth . . .

FekkoTheLawyer · 07/10/2018 15:13

I always said that animals dont care what you say you are - they knowif you are a man or woman. Naughty Transphobic horse making a political statement.

theOtherPamAyres · 07/10/2018 11:42

I have it on good authority that the lovely horse did a massive wee near to the TRAs, and left a pile of matter as he flounced off, too.

Normally, I'm against the police getting involved in politics, but in this instance, I will not say a word.

To @FermatsTheorem

For the record the "little denizen of "Oxford B"" is very much not straight and the suggestion is very insulting

SophoclesTheFox · 07/10/2018 11:00

PD Max is gorgeous! Best policing to come out of West Yorkshire Grin

For any Red Dwarf fans, isn't this a bit like Rimmer's Committee for the Liberation and Integratraion of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society?

"It's time to get tough. I propose to hit it with a major - and I mean major! - leafletting campaign".

breastfeedingclownfish · 07/10/2018 10:43

Have to take the opportunity to celebrate both the lovely horse and @glinner

Badgerthebodger · 07/10/2018 10:19

Thanks BristolThree well done! Great to hear such a positive response from the GP generally. I bet they’ve been badly shaken by the Challenor business and there’ll be a lot of people who heartily wish their party had never heard of the aggressive TRAs who seem to be so well embedded

HumberElla · 07/10/2018 10:09

Thanks for the update BristolThree and hopefully this will have demonstrated further to everyone who witnessed it what TRA’s mean exactly when they call in hate crimes.
It makes me cross to think that this will inevitably affect how the police view calls from people who are genuinely being threatened.

I’m also giggling at Horrible Histories now “Literalleeeeeee”!

FermatsTheorem · 07/10/2018 09:46

That is a lovely police horse.

A thought has suddenly struck me re that "10 reasons why you really should" leaflet.

Often on here we get women who have been raped. (Which, IMO, is a misogynistic hate crime). We will also get a handful of posters who say "it is your duty to other potential victims to report". However the general consensus is always "you have to decide what would be most helpful to you - we all know the reasons why women don't report, and know they're damn good ones. If you feel strong enough, or feel it would help bring you closure, then go ahead. But if you feel it would add to the trauma, then don't." It's very much couched as an individual choice based on what works best for the victim against a fairly shitty misogynistic background, not as a political duty towards the movement.

RealGhouls · 07/10/2018 09:42

Thanks to the horse person I went down a rabbit hole of police animals. I think this police dog is rather lovely.

RealGhouls

Isn't it a bit fucking massive? That horse? Looks very calm, but it's the size of a horse!

Grin

Literally

Bowlofbabelfish · 07/10/2018 09:30

coordinated scripted phone calls.

If that is the case, it would be malicious wasting of police time. The police are stretched like never before due to cuts - it’s simply not on to pull stunts like this and divert from genuine work.

LizzieSiddal · 07/10/2018 09:16

Thanks for the post BristolThree.

I think this incident will have shown many Greens the reality of what’s going on. There’s no hate, no attacks or threats coming from our side.

AbsintheFriends · 07/10/2018 09:12

The logical conclusion of all this, if the GRA reform gets through, is that police are going to spend all of their time following up complaints of 'hate crime' and not have the resources or the inclination to deal with the voyeurism, sexual harassment and assault that will arise from having men in women's spaces.

When you see things like this, it makes you realise how easily it could go that way.
