Oh, and transwomen and transgirls are not paragons of virtue. They too are capable of wrongdoing, pushing boundaries, making mistakes and committing crimes. It is convenient for some to talk of children when you don't want people to imagine fumbling teenagers exploring sex. Unless I have missed the bit where their sex drives are automatically curtailed on self-identifying.

She also has no concept of the privacy of girls issue - largely because all she knows is her own child.

I don't have time now to address this article fully now but it seems to me she is arguing against a straw man. She misrepresents our arguments to make us sound heartless and hysterical. It isn't that anyone with a penis is predatory, just that the vast majority of sexual assault is by males and we have no way of knowing in advance who is a danger and who isn't. Hence restricting access to females in vulnerable positions.

If transgender activists were campaigning for services and facilities that meet their needs without impinging on services and facilities for born women, many of us would support them. The 'toxic' media coverage would not be necessary.

But have there been any instances of convicted perverts gaining access to scouts or guides? My own experience of safeguarding within a youth sports club is that it is very important to keep to strict safeguarding guidelines. We had no problems either, but I know of two instances where applicants withdrew rather than submit to a DBS check. A member of the club was also convicted of sexual offences elsewhere, but again seemingly without affecting club members. The brutal truth is that scouts, guides, and sports clubs attract men who are attracted to young people. Football, gymnastics, etc etc. How many more examples are needed.

I appreciate Susie Green has personal experience of gender dysphoria. I wish she would have a proper conversation with someone with experience of being abused by someone in a position of trust. Perhaps she would then understand that there is a lot more at stake.

Yeah, why Susie Green thinks her child (who btw. was confronted with his dad's homophobia early on and may well have considered 'becoming a girl' the only solution to the 'a boy cannot dress and play like that' conundrum) should open GG to bepenised trans-'lesbians', including adults, like Riley J. Dennis or Jane Fae is beyond me.

Oh, ffs. The Guardian didn't even bother to report the story in the first place but now it's giving space to this woman to air her extreme views.

Maybe this constant misuse of the suicide stats is worth a letter to the readers' editor?

Can we start a petition asking the papers not to use them? Would that be effective? Or a complaint perhaps?

Repeating them is totally irresponsible. Social contagion is a thing where suicide is concerned and the stats themselves have been roundly debunked.

This woman has had a heartbreaking experience and her child clearly has true gender dysphoria.
However reinforcing sexis stereotypes and missing the news reports about male prisioners going to female prisons rather missed the point.
