Not sure I can better this.

Trump: it is a "difficult" and "scary" time for young men

The burden of proof should always be on the accuser not the accused and the fact that that has to be explained says it all about the time we live in

If your child was murdered, would it be your job to prove who did it and how ?

It’s the state’s job to prosecute criminals, not the victim’s.

WhoWants2Know · 03/10/2018 17:27

I hope men ARE scared. It's about fucking time men started to fear the consequences of their negative behaviour.

AssassinatedBeauty · 03/10/2018 17:24

People generally are believed when they report other crimes. If you report a car theft you're not assumed to be lying until you can prove you had a car and that it was taken without consent. That's what women don't get when reporting a rape. The playing field is already tilted massively against them, and men are complaining about an attempt to balance it not tilt it into women's favour. Women aren't asking for special treatment. Numbers of malicious rape claims are no higher than any other crime. Women really really don't make malicious rape allegations to punish men they don't like. There is no evidence that this is any kind of a widespread problem.

Proving a case in court of law isn't the same as believing someone when they report a crime.

VeryVerySilly · 03/10/2018 15:16

The amount of misinformation in this post is amazing, for one this is about the lack of due process currently taking over the US because people have apparently gone back to the witch hunt era where guilt is presumed not innocence and rape can be used as a bludgeon against men who women don't like which by the way makes light of the actual issue of women who are ACTUALLY raped. So no people should not just be believed when they accuse someone of a crime and no women should not receive special treatment in that regard. And with regards to the specific Brett Kavanaugh case the accuser says all of it happened 36 years ago and has no evidence to back it up and multiple witnesses say it didn't happen and it's just in time for him to be promoted to scotus? Please think about these things. The burden of proof should always be on the accuser not the accused and the fact that that has to be explained says it all about the time we live in.

Bloody hell. It's a scary time because you might be held accountable for your appalling actions you mean.

deepwatersolo · 03/10/2018 08:18

Trump does not want such behaviour to be called wrong because he engaged in similar behaviour himself in the past ("grab her by the pussy").

Exactly. He probably even thinks all men are like that. Or all 'real' men at least.

FermatsTheorem · 03/10/2018 08:14

On Kavanaugh's more general wrongdoing, this is a fascinating article in the Telegraph (front page of the print edition):

The man is bent as a nine bob note, to use my Granny's favourite phrase.

Don't you know Biology? They're guilty of WWB - walking whilst black.

BiologyMatters · 03/10/2018 07:56

"It's a very scary time for young men in America when you can be guilty of something that you may not be guilty of."

Well quite. Just ask the families of young black men being murdered by police officers left right and centre who are never even charged let alone brought to justice.

AngryAttackKittens · 03/10/2018 07:51

Skeletons in the closet, and the fear that one's own will be exposed. I keep saying it because it's true and it's what's motivating men who say things like this.

Floisme · 03/10/2018 07:35

Oh do fuck off Trump.

Not eloquent or constructive but I feel better.

FermatsTheorem · 03/10/2018 07:33

Trump does not want such behaviour to be called wrong because he engaged in similar behaviour himself in the past ("grab her by the pussy"). He doesn't want young men like himself to be in any way scared - scared that their "all you can grope" sexual assault buffet might be taken away from them.

He doesn't care about the normal men out there who have nothing to be afraid of (in the way of false accusations - the point about his war mongering is well made) because they don't go around sexually assaulting women.

deepwatersolo · 03/10/2018 07:04

It is a difficult and scary time for young men for many reasons, not least because of the permanent war that is at the risk of escalating to a point where the draft may have to be reintroduced. (And this independent of who is president). But it is sure not a scary time because Kavanaugh gets called out for his dickish misogynist behaviour to the point of assault.
Jesus, I know so many men who were not assholes in their Youth, Surely there will be one available as SCOTUS who did not assault women.

Lottapianos · 03/10/2018 06:54

It's no surprise hearing stuff like this from him, but it still manages to be shocking. The level of misogyny, and the total lack of shame about expressing it - chilling stuff

cheesefield · 03/10/2018 06:50

What a cunt.
