I'm not surprised by the vitriolic ranting against Posie, in a way it just goes to show how she's getting under the trans rights activist's skin.

I've seen everything from:

SHE'S SO UGLY SHE LOOKS LIKE THATCHER !!!!!!!!!

The daily fail even did a "disrespectful women" slant to an article on her.

The heartening thing was the commenters on that post weren't having any of it.

I wish Posie was still here. Flowers for all the personal hate that's being sent her way. Debate her by all means, but its getting so low it's practically below ground.

Agreed with everything silentcrow said at 13:37. We need a multitude of voices, and having them is a strength. The whole point is that these changes are opposed by a broad spectrum of the public, and supported by a very narrow demographic. So having nice soft-spoken reasonable as can be women like Agnes and assertive take no prisoners women like Posie and calm rational intellectuals like Dr Nic all approaching the issue from different angles is a good thing. We don't need any one of them to represent every one of us perfectly - what we need it lots of different people speaking out and demonstrating that the opposition is broad, while the support is narrow.

Exactly. I quite like the sound of skank. I know what it means too, I heard it on Will and Grace.

But it's making into a verb that I'm enjoying. I don't know quite what it means I might do. But I'm prepared to have a go.

placemats - I think the name is being claimed because MNetters were being labelled Posie Skanks on some Twitter account or other.

It's rather like being proud rather than shamed at seeing PP labelled a Disrespectful Woman.

I may be wrong.
