Aimee Challenor welcomed into the Lib Dems

Just for quick context, Aimee Challenor resigned from the Lib Dems under a cloud of shit, after Aimee's father was charged for raping a 10-year-old-girl while dressed in a nappy, and Aimee continued to employ him as an agent.

So there is currently an investigation by Veritas into what happened, this has not been completed, but already welcomed with open arms into the Lib Dems.

Sickening.

In that article it says Ali is being investigated for transphobic bullying. Criticising someone for their actions is not inherently transphobic. If my boss tells me I've made a mistake at work he's not necessarily being sexist.

BesmirchingMotherhood · 03/10/2018 14:25

As I’ve made this move on a weekend, inquiries will continue from my team on Monday in regards to my membership of the Green Party of Northern Ireland.

Her ‘team’.

When I joined the LDs I didn’t have a ‘team’. I’m thinking Aimee is not joining the LDs like other people join the LDs.

FekkoTheLawyer · 03/10/2018 14:09

Might self if as Mary from Stockdale.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 03/10/2018 13:35

From that article: in a statement to this site, the Global Greens said Ms Challenor’s roles would shortly ‘transition to a new person’.

No issue there. Aimee just needs to ID as another person.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 03/10/2018 13:29

Great quote at the end of the article:

Challenor told the Guardian in June that she became involved in politics towards the end of the 2010-2015 coalition government: “That threw out the Conservatives and the Lib Dems for me because of tuition fees, austerity and a lack of action on climate change. I looked at other manifestos and the Greens’ stood out. I agreed with all of it.”

So much for having principles, eh, Challoner?

FekkoTheLawyer · 03/10/2018 11:10

I don't think it will. People seem to be getting fed up with the toddler tantrums and are beginning to stop humouring the children.

arranfan · 03/10/2018 10:03

I'll admit I don't know much about Shahrar Ali

I'm impressed by Ali. He had the courage to tweet someone's version of the Victim Support Statement that he feels the Green Party should have put out after David Challenor's conviction rather than the one that they day (later deleted but it was all about minimising DC's crimes and declaring their intention to stand by AC and her family). It probably cost Ali votes.

KittyKlawsReturns · 03/10/2018 09:58

I'll admit I don't know much about Shahrar Ali but a quick look over his Twitter feed shows a distinct interest in traditionally Green issues which, in my mind, makes him a far more suitable candidate than AC who I don't like - not because they are trans but because they are a self-centered dickhead.

bitheby · 03/10/2018 09:11

Oh no! I despair. I really do. I'm going to have to speak out.

RedToothBrush · 02/10/2018 23:51

People need to start stirring the local LD parties over this.

If you are a member you have a better in to do this.

If you are a none member you can still stir the shit with local councillors or the local party.

The local network is very different to the executive bodies. Done right it could unleash a right hornets nest.

It depends on where you live. Cambridge just don't bother. South Manchester I think a mixed bag - lots of loopies, so a question of being careful but I'm sure plenty of grassroots members who frankly just haven't thought about it in the efforts to be "nice" whilst they live in their middle class bubble.

Take it off line. Go retro. Talk to people, write to people. Email people. The online groups are clearly patrolled.

But I do think there is lots of room to make the party start to take notice. There are plenty of other places across the country where this can be stirred.

As I say, it's about getting the grassroots members away of what lunacy the main party have been up to.

The grassroots will Not like how women have been kicked out the party and how the LGBT lds have been trying to get academics sacked.

The LD network is small but not as small and cliquey as the Green one. And because they have a chance of being elected need to listen in a way the Greens don't.

Lib Dem LGBT+ group homepage which notes that elections to the committee take place in the autumn. Anyone want to take a bet that Aimee will be on that commitee by the new year?

April-June 2018
Brian Paddick's forced (?) resignation and threatened disciplinary measures following his decision to meet people who were gender critical including WPUK members:

Milander · 02/10/2018 22:49

My aunt is chair of her local party and a long time feminist activist. I just showed her/explained the background to this thread, she is absolutely livid. She had not understood how extreme the party had become - and the silencing of women, well she is furious.

Thethiniceofanewday · 02/10/2018 21:54

Was looking for something else but stumbled on the Lib Dem LGBT+ group homepage which notes that elections to the committee take place in the autumn. Anyone want to take a bet that Aimee will be on that commitee by the new year?

IStandWithPosie · 02/10/2018 21:44

Thanks arranfan. So basically look sideways at AC and youre a transphobic T word.

HamiltonCork · 02/10/2018 21:41

Probably mentioned something eco related, which as well know Aimee doesn't seem to give a crap about.

arranfan · 02/10/2018 21:35

The proximate act that brought on the AC reproof was that he tweeted Bea Campbell's article (something for which a number of people criticised him as making him complicit in Campbell's alleged transphobia).

twitter.com/ShahrarAli/status/1045584324140175362

He also urges cooperation with Verita - the organisation brought in the investigate the fix the Green Party found itself in over David Challenor (Aimee's father, post his conviction) standing as Election Agent etc. and various interesting constitutional amendments.

IStandWithPosie · 02/10/2018 21:26

What is Ali’s crime according to AC?

arranfan · 02/10/2018 21:21

As the gift that keeps on giving, Aimee C is upbraiding Shahrar Ali:

Shahrar Ali;s behaviour is despicable. He should never have stood for Leader. Divisive and intolerant.

Shahrar Ali remarks:

So I'm getting lectured now on ETHICS, YES ETHICS from AC #Challenor. I am the one who should not have stood as a candidate?! Go Figure..... #gofigure #failuretodisclose #youcouldntmakeitup #projection #implausibledeniability #backstabbing #inyourface

twitter.com/ShahrarAli/status/1046160565775855616

For anyone not up to date on this, Shahrar Ali stood for leadership and AC was a candidate for Deputy Leader.

Some excellent contributions and exchanges in that thread (including from Jane Clare Jones).

FekkoTheLawyer · 02/10/2018 21:17

Too scared not to

R0wantrees · 02/10/2018 21:17

There was always a close connection with Aimee Challenor and the LibDeb LGBT+ twitter group (Sarah Brown, Zoe O'connell?)

When AC thought they had been dropped as Diversity and Inclusion spokesperson earlier in the year, the LDLGBT+ made a comment about their good friend etc

They all work together as part of Stonewall's Trans Advisory group.

Milander · 02/10/2018 21:01

I’m horrified that the Lib Dem’s are welcoming in Aimee. I never got that welcome, I worked very hard with small children to look after, fighting for liberal values that I thought included free speech now only to find women asking questions about their rights bein silenced and likened to the BNP kicked out of discussions to be replaced by trans activists.

LittleLebowski · 02/10/2018 20:54

Terflon! Grin You certainly have to wonder exactly what Aimee would have to do to actually be dropped. It does seem nothing sticks. I used to leaflet for the LDs. They can totally F off now. The LGBT Twitter account is the worst. Again they can get away with absolutely anything. Take a look at Sarah Ditum questioning one of their prospective MP candidates as he leaps to protect the rights of trans women to be in women's prisons.
mobile.twitter.com/sarahditum/status/1047171855554154496 You can see why Aimee had no problem fitting right in with this woke bro crew.

BesmirchingMotherhood · 02/10/2018 20:51

black
I have sent a join request. But I'm not sure that they'll let me in as they (presumably?) can see that I also follow fpfw, wpuk, we need to talk and posie (as well as Vince, Nick, Jo, Layla and other ld groups).

Facebook privacy settings let you stop other people seeing what groups you’re in/who you follow. Make sure you’ve got them set to not show to everyone else.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 02/10/2018 19:38

Already-Aimee is TERFLON. They have struck gold here with a sympathy worthy victim trans young person to fly the flag. I’m counting the days till her official spokes person capacity gets tweeted.
