I've just been reading this thread and I am utterly blown away by the number of women who say they are lurking here.

It's quite, quite wonderful to read that thread and I wanted to acknowledge it and roll out the red carpet if any of you wanted to post. I know it can feel a bit intimidating, like you have to have the right vocabulary, or some huge knowledge of feminist theory, but you don't.

Your words are valuable, and your unique view is important because together we're powerful!

We're also rude, funny, and most of all DISRESPECTFUL in all the ways that matter. Don't just lurk: join in Grin you are very welcome.

Semi-lurker saying hi Smile Thanks to all who post here and help the gradual trickle of logic into this debate Flowers Sometimes I think the tide is turning but then others it just seems like it’s a losing battle. I know we all need to be more vocal but it’s hard when you know for sure you’d be managed out for expressing GC views Sad

whatifido · 30/09/2018 10:24

Name changed to de-lurk.
I share many of your concerns, most recently wrote to my local rainbows leaders regarding my concerns about my daughters safeguarding on camps, received a reply back saying they can't guarantee my daughter would not be sharing sleeping and changing facilities with males and if I was concerned they could segregate my daughter..... basically meaning she will sleep etc away from all her friends!

hungryhippie · 30/09/2018 10:22

Another lurker here. I have posted occasionally but I mainly read because the standard of writing from the brilliant women on here is awe inspiring!
It is definitely the best board on mumsnet by far!

CurbsideProphet · 30/09/2018 10:22

I'm here Smile

My employer (large organisation) is starting to drink the kool aid and I lurk here to keep myself informed / prepared.

LangCleg · 30/09/2018 10:19

I am totally inconhert most of time but nobody minds at all

All the LOLs.

oi oi, Dog, this is why we love you.

Madhairday · 30/09/2018 10:19

Hello! I'm a long term MNer and have lurked in this section for years. I've even started following some of you on Twitter, and when I retweeted something the other day I lost about 10 followers in one fell swoop, so that was interesting.

I'm constantly amazed and blown away by the articulate and witty posts here. And yet there's compassion shining through too, for those who struggle with dysphoria, which says much to me about what this is all about. I'm so grateful for all you've taught me.

Recently my teen DD peaked and now loves reading this board. She also follows some kind of GC board on Pinterest. She's been trying to convert her friends, with varying levels of success - so hard for that generation.

Love this place. Thank you.

LangCleg · 30/09/2018 10:19

I think this is a fabulous thread.

A year ago on FWR, I was posting on almost all the active threads. Now, I can only manage to keep up with and contribute to a few at a time, so busy is it. It's wonderful.

I know it's scary to join any community that looks settled and has its own lingo and in-jokes, but we all have to start somewhere. I think the regulars are pretty good at spotting who has joined in good faith - everybody was lovely to me when I joined up even though I am sure I said some idiotic things. Don't be afraid.

Courage calls to courage!

ButtermilkBiscuits · 30/09/2018 10:18

I'm a lurker as well, and tend not to comment because everyone else says it better. This board has peak-transed me and opened my eyes to a multitude of issues that I fully agree with, but simply had never considered.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 30/09/2018 10:17

Another long term lurker here 💐

👋🏼
I lurk every day.
Am a strident feminist in everyday life in 99% of issues, but too scared to post on here, because of the threat of disingenuous posters, because of hacking, because of doxxing.
I have learnt so much. It's all going in. I am seriously fangirling on several of you. 😍

Fwend · 30/09/2018 10:15

I'm here too. Lurking away, squirrelling away information to help peak trans others in real life.

frogintheTyne · 30/09/2018 10:15

I lurk - I'm here for hours every day - I spend far too much time on here. I should be doing other things, but I just can;t stop reading, and learning and enjoying the conversations , sometimes despairing too.

I've recently started trying to post a bit, but other people say it so much better and it feels a bit lame to just type me too or I agree which feels a bitlike spamming the thread without adding to the discussion.

Now my babies are more or less grown up, I felt mumsnet wasn't maybe my place ( although I still love a good Babyname thread) - but when I discovered FWR, I knew I'd found a bunch of articulate, funny, wonderful women and had to stay. You are all wonderful and FWR is the most amazing place.

Cocolepew · 30/09/2018 10:15

I post occasionally but the FWR boards are always the first ones I read.
I don't post much because someone will gave already said what I6m thinking more coherently than me!
I'm very gobbby on Twitter though Grin

Deliriumoftheendless · 30/09/2018 10:14

I’ve been lurking for a long time but recent events have made my mind up to join. That and bumping into a representative from WPUK yesterday in my home town that made me feel things are changing.

I’ve been keeping my head down and only feel comfortable speaking up (a bit) now there’s so many voices joining in. Those of you who have been at this for years are remarkable.

I feel a bit like the US joining World War 2 (so I will be taking all the credit as a Joanie come lately Grin)

Thinktwicefirst · 30/09/2018 10:14

Hello wonderful FWR board. I have lurked on mumsnet (with a few posts) for a long time and always found it to be an education on how to be a sane, assertive, reasonable person. My reasons for feeling that my biology is intrinsic to my identity and life experience are very raw (I suspect many women may feel that way) so I am more comfortable lurking. I also work in the nhs and fear doxxing. But I have completed the consultation, donated some funds and will continue to support in whatever way I can. I'm in awe of regular poster's eloquence and knowledge and I'm extremely grateful for it.

We came to understand the transborg, we are staying to fight the patriarchy!

I’m a lurker and was rapidly peak-transed by the erudite, witty and lovely ladies on FWR.

I want to spread the word and this board has given me the courage. DH self peak-transed as he loves women’s sport.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 30/09/2018 10:11

I love you all! I’m not a lurker but I am new to posting- since the beginning of summer- we’ll since peak trans happened to me. This board has changed the way I see the world. I am never going back. Im off later to give out my fair play for women leaflets! That’s how far I have traveled mentally between August and end of September, my little girl is coming with me.

arranfan · 30/09/2018 10:06

*I am trying to help in other ways by making (small) donations, filling in things etc.

I swear there needs to be a section of the board for, Things We Need to Fill In, Letters to MPs and Organisations, Complaints about Programmes etc.

VioletCharlotte · 30/09/2018 10:06

Hello, another lurker here. Never been brave enough to post for fear of saying the wrong thing, or not using the right terminology. But I enjoy reading the posts and have learned a lot.

Nofedora · 30/09/2018 10:05

I have been lurking for awhile and have just signed up. We need to support those putting themselves on the front line even if its just messages of support or donating a few quid.

Foxxinsoxx · 30/09/2018 10:03

Long-term lurker here (started reading Mumsnet when I was pregnant nine years ago). About a year ago I must have seen a post in AIBU or Active which brought me to this board. I am so in awe of the intelligent, thoughtful and well-informed women who post here. You have honestly changed the way I think! I feel like I know you! I’ve written to my MP, filled in consultations and spoken to friends and family. I’m drafting a second letter to my MP as she didn’t reply to the first one, which I wrote last December.... I will continue to follow the debate and will keep trying to do my bit, however small!

Oh and I am blocked by certain Twitter accounts despite the fact that I have never sent a single public Tweet or liked or re-Tweeted anything. I only read and follow. I think that’s very telling...

There must be thousands of us out there, silently reading and thinking.

ElfrideSwancourt · 30/09/2018 10:03

Long time lurker and v occasional poster - have found so many inspirational women on these boards. I'm not clever enough to post much but I've learned so much- I am (was) your classic leftie liberal live-and-let-live type but have been well and truly peak transed.

I have 2DDs, one of whom is very GNC and bi and I massively worry that she is very vulnerable to trans ideology but I think she gets it and is secure enough in herself 🤞

I really want to get to a WPUK meeting soon- I feel strongly that I need to put my money (not that I have any 🙁) where my mouth is as such.

I've shared the odd article on fb but have only had tumbleweed.

I feel completely politically homeless- I was a longtime Labour Party member but left when Corbyn was elected due to his misogyny even then. Would love to support WEP but they are too hand-in-glove with TRAs.
