What peak transed you

I know this has probably been done to death, not sure if there is another thread somewhere, but briefly, what was it that peak transed you? I don't mean long philosophical essays, but was there something or a specific incident which suddenly made that lightbulb switch on?

Think I just peaked again reading that Blatheringwuther

BeenHereAWhileNow · 30/09/2018 12:12

expatia were not just talking kids in GFs. GG includes teenagers, the horrific numbers of sexual assaults on teenage girls at school would suggest teen boys should not be able to share sleeping accommodation with teen girls who have been told if they object they are bigots

BlatheringWuther · 30/09/2018 11:08

The cotton ceiling has also led to problems with lesbianhood being referred to as transphobic full-stop, requiring re-education, and led to the issues with Pride. Lesbians are effectively being forced out of LGB (I refuse to add the T anymore, or the assorted other letters).
www.newstatesman.com/politics/feminism/2018/07/why-were-lesbians-protesting-pride-because-lgbt-coalition-leaves-women

It's basically the old problem of corrective rape in newspeak.

expatia · 30/09/2018 09:16

The girl guides stuff is crazy, I don't actually have an issue with kids being included so much as adults. Has nobody thought at all that alongside those who genuinely identify this is also just handing easy access to pedophiles? Surely anyone who wants access to young girls would think about self Id now.

What is so wrong with having to have lived as a woman for two years before id'ing? That seems a pretty low bar already given that you can still be physically male.

GoldenWonderwall · 30/09/2018 09:08

It was very recently the triple whammy of nspcc/gg anti-safeguarding, the images of the transman’s mutilated arm that went round Twitter and a post by I think barracker on a thread about Debbie Hayton where it all truly clicked into place.

NopeNi · 30/09/2018 09:04

It's so fucking unfortunate that people are "waking up" right as the [kept very quiet and made very inexplicably difficult to answer] governmental consultation is ending.

The consultation which will have been brigaded from across the planet by tech-savvy men, and already dismissed by the very rich men behind the scenes funding the general movement.

How can this movement even begin to be reversed?

littlbrowndog · 30/09/2018 09:04

Cotton ceiling
Where lesbians have to accept that guys with dicks who say they are women and lesbians now
Lesbians are now being called transphobic if they won’t have sex with the guys with dicks who now say they are women and lesbian
Despite the dick

expatia · 30/09/2018 08:58

Lily Madigan too...

I almost dread to ask but what is the cotton ceiling?

I am going to start talking to people about this now, I've largely stayed off it apart from with people I know will have similar concerns, but with the consultation deadline coming up I feel I have to do something. People are starting to wake up to this now, I definitely agree.

TwistedStitch · 30/09/2018 08:54

Surely Harrop is just trolling at this point. Either that or he has got himself in so deep that he now has no choice but to be completely absorbed by it because nobody else will take him seriously.

ToeToToe · 30/09/2018 08:52

It's really quite scary isn't it?

I couldn't believe it when I c&p that deranged tweet - and there on the likes was the good doctor's gurning face Shock

What did he do in anatomy classes at MS? Put his hand up and say "I think you'll find that could also be an inside-out vagina..." ??

FowlerThanFowl · 30/09/2018 08:44

ToeToToe how the hell did that man become qualified as a doctor?? how long before he's in the news for physical crimes against women I wonder. He's got all the right "qualities."

ToeToToe · 30/09/2018 08:24

*Oh and JUST GUESS who has liked that above tweet?

None other than Dr Harrop. An NHS doctor. (Apparently)

ToeToToe · 30/09/2018 08:22

Here's one hot of the press - just posted on twitter by a transactivist:

Then why aren't they women? Because they were born with their vaginas inside out & their ovaries and clitoris tissues responded to the wrong hormones in utero? Why do you want to exclude trans women from womanhood?

Do you judge people on their belly buttons and handedness too?

I mean, where do you even start with this madness? This is anti-scientific flat-earthism.

We went from "the GRA will be introduced to allow a (legal fiction) a person suffering from gender dysphoria to be treated legally as the sex they have transitioned to" - to - "transwomen ARE biological women...their vagina was just made inside out" !!!

InionEile · 30/09/2018 07:56

It was Caitlyn Jenner that forced me to nail my colors to the mast and go full TERF. Up until that point, I had been fairly positive about trans issues, had no problem with gender neutral bathrooms and empathized with kids, especially, who felt uneasy about their assigned gender.

The nonsense spewed over Caitlyn Jenner gave me the dry heaves though. Someone who is rich, Republican, white, male gets to play the victim and bleat on about life as a ‘woman’ being all about picking a shade of nail polish and wearing nice dresses. And instead of people laughing this 70 year old dude with a cross dressing fetish out of the room, suddenly we’re supposed to honour her experience as a ‘woman’ and she wins a Woman of the Year’ award.

I remember at the time a journalist here in the US wrote an article criticizing CJ, saying it was insulting to women and feminism to trivialize our lived experience into nothing but nail polish and fancy dresses. I agreed with her 100% and shared and liked it on social media, assuming her views were pretty mainstream. I got some negative responses and one friend practically disowned me over it. It seemed like the whole feminist world had been captured by ‘woke’ TRAs who will not tolerate anything except absolute adherence to doctrine.

Then I found this MN feminist chat page and it was finally somewhere I could let off steam and talk freely. That’s why it’s so valuable to me.

SophoclesTheFox · 30/09/2018 07:26

The post above about the Julie/Milo/Jane debate made me remember when I watched it. I watched it for the Julie/Milo showdown (which didn’t disappoint!), but as I was watching them spark off each other, i was thinking “why has that long haired fella brought his knitting and what’s he huffing and puffing about? If he doesn’t want to be there he should just leave”.

Hadn’t a clue who JF was (oh blissful ignorance).

I can’t tell my eyes not to see what they see

KERALA1 · 30/09/2018 07:20

Do the girl guides realise what they have done? We were at a party on fri where this only came up because all the parents had the email and wondered what it meant. Dh calmly explained and peak transed every man in the room.

I feel transpeople should be treated with the same respect afforded to everyone else but I cannot will not believe you can change sex.

VioletWillow · 30/09/2018 06:56

For me - either the cotton ceiling or the men in women's sports did my first peak trans.

Galvantula · 30/09/2018 06:29

I think I started reading around the time of L Madigan getting the women's officer post.

The man Friday campaign drew me in too, reading about swim England's confused new rules.

It's gone from there, I can't believe what I read every day now.

I'd started to chat a bit about it with work colleagues, bit am a bit nervous now as we had some Trans Education at work recently as part of an inclusivity drive.

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 30/09/2018 06:21

ToetoToe

OMG. What a child

Annandale · 30/09/2018 06:15

Work. Months of being unable to cope with all the crap that arose for me personally when needing to work with transgender people to offer a specific health intervention. I was paying for my own counselling, paying for specific training, all to try and deal with the basic fact that i felt like i was in a room alone with a sequence of psychologically troubled but physically healthy men, while trying to behave as if i was in a room with women requiring health care. Dreaded every session. Shortly after pulling out of the whole area because i just couldnt stand it any more, i got a message from a professional board asking us all to refer to 'trans women' rather than 'transwomen' and i could see a path lighting up ahead from trans women to t women to women. Done.

Oscarino · 30/09/2018 06:14

When I realised that there is no limit to the misogyny, entitlement and stupidity that will not only be accepted but applauded if the ‘trans’ label is hung on it.

The realisation that the above is true because women are seen as less than human - the concerns of women carry no weight against the demands of men no matter how objectively ludicrous and dangerous those demands.

The absolute glee with which ‘woke’ men and their handmaidens give voice to their now legitimised hatred of women. The ratification, by political parties, medical organisations and even the fucking girl guides, of the demonisation of those women who refuse to bend their necks and sacrifice their rights, interests and bodies to the ridiculous claim that TWAW.

I am beyond peak trans, I’m just about peak everything.

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 30/09/2018 06:13

Caitlyn Jenner being given a Woman of the Year Award.

But it was simmering there for years. A selfish ex friend who was basically AGP being all Brave and Stunning all over social media despite what his actions did to his wife.

Coming here and learning of Stonewall and the Trans Umbrella

fidgetspinner555 · 30/09/2018 05:56

....I've just read the whole thread and many of what peaked others also lead up to my final peak...though I peak every day now with every thing that's been happening lately.

fidgetspinner555 · 30/09/2018 05:13

Cancer Research's "People with Cervixes" campaign.

I thought ok, I guess some women who want to be men might feel excluded.

Then I saw that their prostate cancer campaign still used the word men and I realised it was about erasing women.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 30/09/2018 03:33

Years ago I was reading an interview with Jan Morris, the travel writer. She had an anecdote about trying to get help in an airport but being ignored because, you know, woman-adjacent, so she used her loud, male voice and got attention.

And my thought was how strange that Morris could say she was a woman but call on male privilege when she wanted to.

And then when Germaine Greer opposed a trans woman as a member of her all-female college, and the terrible things said about GG for attempting to protect an important, woman-only space.

But decades before that, a friend of mine had minor gynaecological surgery and was place in a ward full of drag queens having “gender reassignment surgey”. It was all very odd and the thought I had when I visited her, was that those men believed they could do better woman than real women.

I have a young relative who has decided he’s a woman. I wish him happiness and safety, but I have deep concerns about the damage he’s doing to his psyche and physiology. I think his mental health issues have never need adequately dealt with and his “transition”, is a
way of being a non-masculine man in a world where gender expression has become so binary. I don’t talk about this to his family because they support his view of himself and I have no wish to cause hurt feelings.

Of course the transwoman who vandalised my house, terrorised my pets and threatened me with serious physical harm didn’t help moderate my GC views!
