Ocado boycott after support of Primesight actionhttp://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3376466-ocado-boycott-after-support-of-primesight-action

Following on from my previous thread that became full Smile

I'll be making my first Waitrose order today, or maybe going back to Tesco. Will definitely give Waitrose a go though and have placed a Christmas order already.

Re reviews getting removed- I've seen a few saying they hope Mumsneters choke...so those reviews are okay...but one that doesn't contain enough info isnt?

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 02/10/2018 15:53

Mine is still there, seems only female reviews are being taken down.

enrichedatthegulags · 02/10/2018 15:52

Waitrose delivery just arrived (with lots of birdseye fish fingers).
Bye Ocado 👍

LenGoodmansPickledWalnuts · 02/10/2018 15:51

Since when has Trustpilot allowed companies to remove reviews that are negative due to a lack of particular aspect, i.e. having to prove that Ocado's Customer Services failed rather than top management and social media staff??? Pretty convenient for Ocado.

Molokonono · 02/10/2018 15:36

No confusion.

We know what a woman is.

LenGoodmansPickledWalnuts · 02/10/2018 15:36

I've had my trustpilot review taken off too.
"Thanks very much for your review of www.ocado.com.

We’re writing to you because we’ve noticed that your review only includes limited information about your experience with the company. We really want Trustpilot reviewers to provide an overall picture of their buying experience, and this includes the level of customer service. In this case, your review has been flagged as incomplete by www.ocado.com, so we’ve temporarily moved it offline. But we’ll be happy to reinstate it online if you can add a few more details.

To complete your review, please add more information, including comments about the customer service you received from the company."

OCADO has asked for it to be removed. Oh the irony.

Needmoresleep · 02/10/2018 15:12

Deep in the centre of their inclusive bubble I wonder if Ocado have worked out that Adult Human Customers are different from those who self-ID as Adult Human Customers.

PerverseConverse · 02/10/2018 15:07

Aww some bloke on facebook has said that the opinions of women on mumsnet are of no consequence and that Facebook laughs at us. Or words to that effect. He obviously doesn't realise that he's just proved misogyny is alive and kicking Grin

I got my email yesterday - pretty much the same as the others:

"Last week one of our customer services representatives, in a response on Twitter, inadvertently entered into a debate that did not relate to Ocado, our marketing, or our values. This issue was not for Ocado to comment on and as a result the Tweet was withdrawn.

We apologise for any confusion or offence that this message may have caused. At Ocado we believe passionately in a culture of inclusion and creating an environment around our business that is completely free from discrimination, harassment and victimisation of any sort.

I apologise again for any confusion or offence caused. "

Again, no explanation for why the definition of the word woman is transphobic and no promise of a public apology, just the withdrawn tweet.

chewingpencils · 02/10/2018 14:06

Delurking to say that I have also cancelled my Ocado account and will be using Riverford, whose values on the enviroment definitely align with my views, and Waitrose for groceries and petfood. I have had my account for YEARS and must have spent thousands.

happydappy2 · 02/10/2018 13:49

still waiting for my phone call, total lifetime spend over 50K but will walk if pushed....then will be discussing with wider family & friends....glad I don't have shares in Ocado.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 02/10/2018 13:41

I see a bunch of 5* reviews have appeared on Trump Pilot, apparently congratulating Ocado for “standing up to the transphobes”.

I wonder how many of them have spent any money though?

sashh · 02/10/2018 13:35

Well as they had not calle me I called them.

Apparently 'there is nothing to add to Millie's email'. I said I was making a complaint of sex discrimination, they repeated, I tasked why they didn't see a problem with the email.

They eventually said I could email in a complaint.

Complaint email C and P

Dear Sirs,

I have just had a rather unsatisfactory call from one of your team, I believe the name was 'Steph' who told me she had nothing to add to Millie's email. As I'd been asked to provide a phone number it seemed a bit of an odd call.

I tried to make my complaint to her but apparently there was nothing she could add and no one was able to take my compliant.

ANyway here is my complaint.

On the 27th and 28th of September Ocado have discriminated against me in particular and women in general.

THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT ABOUT THAT TWEET.

This is a complaint about how you handled the situation and that you discriminated against women ie you (the company) committed sex discrimination. I have screen shots of
:

  1. tweets by people with women's names being ignored whilst tweets from men were answered
  2. Trust pilot reviews by women being ignored whilst men's were answered.
  3. The discussion on mumsnet that shows others were getting the same treatment
  4. the e-mail sent from 'Millie'. This email adds insult to injury as in it you state:

"At Ocado we believe passionately in a culture of inclusion and creating an environment around our business activities that is completely free of discrimination of any sort. Our policies have always stated that everyone at Ocado is treated equally regardless of age, colour, disability, race, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, political views or religious belief. This is as true of our employees as it is for anyone that engages with Ocado."

Under the Equality Act 'sex' is a protected characteristic. Another protected characteristic is 'gender identity', crucially the Act allows for situations where a person undergoing gender reassignment can be excluded from single sex places and services.

By stating 'gender' in this email you are saying two things, one is that women don't matter as sex discrimination is overwhelmingly against females. The other is that you seem to think gender IS important.

Gender is a 'social construct' it is the role a society forces onto a group whether they like it or not.

Finally I was not able to make this complaint by phone, I believe this is further sex discrimination. Your employee kept repeating she could not add to the email sent to women, but that email did not address any concerns with regard to sex discrimination. I know that this was pointed out to Ocado on twitter several times so you should not be unaware. It should not be up to your customers to tell you what the law is.

I can only conclude that you are continuing to discriminate against me because I am a woman, an adult human female.

I look forward to your reply (within 7 days) with your plan to rectify matters.

Zephbloggs · 02/10/2018 13:27

I cancelled my delivery smart pass which was due for renewal this month. I told them via email it was because of the primesight billboard episode.

I got a slightly garbled answerphone message from them saying they would like to speak to me about it, but they have cancelled my smart pass. I don't think I'll be calling them back, I think cancelling has made my point.

I might use this as a spur to move to doing all my shopping at Lidl and save a pile of money Wink

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 02/10/2018 11:34

what's funnier is ocado have taken the "send review to ocado" off, so none of this is being emailed directly to them either.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 02/10/2018 11:32

Funny thing is these humans can say what they want they have no I intentions of shopping there.

Exactly, it's all about looks, but it's meaningless.

InWomensProtection · 02/10/2018 11:27

Scumsnet? Oh I shall be hitting that flag button incase anyone was on Trustpilot and wondering what I was doing 😉

Funny thing is these humans can say what they want they have no I intentions of shopping there. Me me me me that’s all that matters

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 02/10/2018 11:15

Argh I got a reply to my cancellation email asking for a ph n and a time to talk. I'm not good with talking! But I guess I'll have to have the conversation, won't I?

You don't have to, I just replied by email again and said I didn't want to talk to anyone and their non-apology wasn't enough. I also said that I had now asked for my account to be deleted 3 times and when a woman says no it means no. I'm sick of them now.

StealthNinjaMum · 02/10/2018 11:15

PerverseConverse so your review has been suspended. Is that men trying to silence women again?

Molokonono · 02/10/2018 11:02

But I guess I'll have to have the conversation, won't I?

No. If you opened the account without talking then you should be able to close it without talking too.

PerverseConverse · 02/10/2018 10:59

Trust pilot have suspended my review as it doesn't contain enough customer service information Hmm I'll fill it out in more detail later.

OP posts:
MnerXX · 02/10/2018 10:56

I forgot actually that I did use Ocado a couple of times a few years ago so asked for them to remove my data as well. I have had the same non-apology so told them to it's not enough.

SolidarityGdansk · 02/10/2018 10:53

Ocado don’t seem to be fighting to keep our custom.

I have spent around £50k total with them and they just seem to be saying “sorry not sorry” “bye then”.

How to make their customers feel valued.

Waitrose it is then.

Beagadorsrock · 02/10/2018 10:44

happydappy2 · 02/10/2018 10:15

Have phoned this morning & am awaiting a call back, as would really like to give them the opportunity to understand why we are all so pissed off, & for them to make amends publicly.....otherwise goodbye ocado after 12 years....
