Ocado boycott after support of Primesight actionhttp://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3376466-ocado-boycott-after-support-of-primesight-action

Following on from my previous thread that became full Smile

I'll be making my first Waitrose order today, or maybe going back to Tesco. Will definitely give Waitrose a go though and have placed a Christmas order already.

OP posts:

Still no response to both my previous queries asking for an explanation of their values in relation to that tweet and it's been 5 days now.
So I've emailed asking them to cancel my account.

I shall await my phone call, which I might use as an opportunity to promote some relevant consultations to the helpful customer services person (Millie?!).

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 03/10/2018 13:21

Maybe we should all, in our emails, suggest a public response along the lines of

"We waded into a debate we shouldn't have and inadvertently supported those who say the dictionary definition of "woman" as "adult human female" is bigoted hatespeak. We do not support this clearly absurd view. We hope this reassures our women (adult human female) customers. We will not comment further on this issue."

They seem to be having trouble with crafting something.....

Can someone kindly spare me the time reading several hundred posts and point me to the most effective email address to use to cancel my account and comment why?

I've called the Customer service line but this wont be effective.

sashh · 03/10/2018 07:53

I'm loving the little identifiers on twitter, it's like a secret handshake

StealthNinjaMum · 02/10/2018 18:45

Possible penis beaker?

Neon green sippy cup and nightlight. Glows in the dark so you don't have to ruin the mood by turning the light on.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 02/10/2018 18:43

Does that mean that, far from sidelining () the person who apparently tweeted without fully understanding what they were doing, that person is still there and having a laugh?*

Haven't you worked out the ethics of this company yet?

StealthNinjaMum · 02/10/2018 18:42

Some PR exec is thinking 'fuck fuck fuck we need to detract attention from the shitstorm I created last week. Let's put up something really innocuous. I know! Lemon drizzle cake! That can't possibly piss those pesky women off!'

Beagadorsrock · 02/10/2018 18:36

Great.

sashh · 02/10/2018 18:30

Repeal got it in one, if they start selling penis beakers we will know we are being trolled.

RepealtheGRA · 02/10/2018 18:28

Lemon drizzle? Are the fuckers just trolling now?

I think Ocado’s favourite is Pie.

sashh · 02/10/2018 18:27

Dereks have a look at my long post re sex discrimination

sashh · 02/10/2018 18:26

OMG Ocado has just tweeted a poll for your favorite cake, one is Victoria sponge, guess which MN favorite is the other?

DereksSexyPyjamas · 02/10/2018 18:24

Has Ocado made any response to the fact that their equalities policy misrepresents the law, in referring to gender and not sex? If anyone is having any further communications with them, it might be worth pressuring them on that and whether they have amended it yet.

Brideslave · 02/10/2018 17:56

Not posted before on this board but I have also cancelled Ocado.
Just got the call from Millie.
She wanted to give me offers to entice me back!
I resisted and asked where the public statement on Twitter is - as above she just said she was passing it on to management.
Sigh. Eight years.

Beagadorsrock · 02/10/2018 17:16

Just got the call from Millie (I feel privileged!). Pretty standard fare, the tweet does not represent... bla bla... was withdrawn. Asked for confirmation of email and postcode to conclude the cancellation, I said that's great but it would be good if you could make that clarification publicly, she said she would flag up to a manager that I'd like a public apology but that there are no plans at the moment to do it.
All cancelled now.
I'm sad, but hey, I can support the high street now.

thefatladyscreams · 02/10/2018 17:13

I rang chasing up a response to my emails yesterday. Told I was number 5 in line to get a response. That was yesterday lunchtime and I’m still waiting. How long does it take to send out a generic email? Maybe it was because I said that I was an adult female - they don’t actually believe I exist 😀

MoltenLasagne · 02/10/2018 16:26

Perhaps somebody should tweet Ocado and media outlets again and point out that women's reviews are being removed, but they're happy to leave reviews wishing death on women.

You can imagine the conversation at Ocado HQ
"These women are leaving 1* reviews and quoting dictionary definitions"
"Unacceptable - get them removed"
"These men are threatening violence against women on our review site, but they're giving us 5 stars"
"Wonderful - good to see we have customers who are aligned with our company values"

GladAllOver · 02/10/2018 16:12

That shows just how pathetic these anti-women activists are. They are just incapable of rational discussion and have to substitute violence. Violence at peaceful meetings and violent threats in writing.

Usernumbers1234 · 02/10/2018 16:09

“There would be many more lurkers than cancelled”

Lol

And infinitely more lurkers that logged into Ocado prompted by your free marketing campaign.

hackmum · 02/10/2018 16:08

There's something enraging about them apologising for "any confusion". The only people who are confused are them. We're not the slightest bit confused.
