So many posters on this thread are saying they're on MN for the FWR boards, so I thought it was worth popping it over here to say THANK YOU to the wonderful GC posters who keep this bastion of sanity going 👊

FC is perhaps "feminism chat"? It's waaay more than chit chat though, hence an adherence to FWR.

Knowing that you are all in my phone

As a Terry Pratchett fan I'm now imagining teams of FWR gnomes inhabiting our devicesGrin

pottypotamus · 28/09/2018 23:35

Ah ok thanks for clearing that up Grin

What is TAAT and FWR?

Thread About A Thread - which aren't always allowed.
FWR - 'Feminism and Women's Rights', which is what the feminism board used to be called but for some reason isn't any more.

Someone upthread mentioned FC - I'm guessing they meant GC (gender critical- essentially believing that gender stereotypes are bad) as I've only ever seen FC meaning Father Christmas on here.

What is TAAT and FWR?

A TAAT is a thread about a thread
FWR is feminism and women's rights :)

I have been one of your lurkers for about a year now. Thank you, everyone who is a regular contributer to FWR. I have learned so much from you all.

Knowing that you are all in my phone has made me braver in real life. I don't really contribute online (many of you are so much more eloquent than I could ever be) but I have recently managed to peak trans my DH and parents, and I am gently chilling away at some of my more woke friends and family.

Thank you all so much.

What is TAAT and FWR?

I wondered if people saw the question as a vague threat that some areas might go after not getting the response required. FWR readers feeling constantly under threat felt the need to speak up for it, maybe I'm reading too much into it.

@Nonomore2 You could start here:

GulagsMyArse · 28/09/2018 23:16

I stumbled upon FWR when goggling about gender stuff and not really understanding it. FWR :) its amazing.

Nonomore2 · 28/09/2018 23:12

So, I have ventured over here for the first time after reading all the posts about the Feminism boards.
But I don’t know what FMR is or FC is or much about these threads. I’m sure a lot of people will venture over for the first time after reading that thread. Is it worth someone posting a ‘welcome’ and trying a brief summation of the space?

TinselAngel · 28/09/2018 23:03

Just goes to show @Datun is right about amount of lurkers here.

gendercritter · 28/09/2018 22:48

I was quite taken aback too - so many posters are referencing this page. It's so heartening to read

ErrolTheDragon · 28/09/2018 22:46

I wonder if MNHQ was expecting quite that response? I'm a bit surprised by it myself - and a lot of names I don't recognise, Wineto you all.

Lefthanddown · 28/09/2018 22:44

Started using MN about 2010 and stuck to SEN only for the first few years. Then forayed into other threads, though rarely posted. For the last year I have only really come on to look at FWR.

MsBeaujangles · 28/09/2018 22:36

Thanks for the link. I wasn't aware of the thread.
These responses suggest FWR is a major driver for visiting Mumsnet. I wonder if Ocado have read that one!

AwdBovril · 28/09/2018 22:19

It will always be FWR to me. Not FC. Sounds strange when I say it in my head.

CircumzenithalArc · 28/09/2018 22:16

Wow

Badgerthebodger · 28/09/2018 21:56

As I’ve just said over there, it’s the best slice of the internet bar none.

Articulate, witty, intelligent and unflappably calm women, stating facts, talking to each other and getting shit done. The radicalisation portal FWR has made me about 50x the cool girl I was and turned me into a woman. Thanks wims, you’re amazing StarGinFlowers
