Sorry if this was already on another thread, in case you missed it -

talkradio.co.uk/news/organiser-woman-definition-poster-i-dont-think-changing-sex-actually-possible-18092728114

Posie phoned in! Matthew Wright seems to be onside! And it's a woman who is trying to parrot the idea that this the definition of woman is "transphobic."

Also, the Mumsnet thread to reinstate her got a mention in the article!

She added: “I think it is certainly provocative and I think the battle – a turf war – going on between radical feminists and trans activists for the public consciousness or the public sympathy.

Gender neutral toilets were sold to us as the solution to all this on the Politics Live show too.

Funny thing about my bathroom at home - it is a lockable room, it does not have gaps at the tops and bottom of the walls/doors, that any old person could stick a mobile phone over (or in my case, their whole head over) and only people I have invited into my home can use it - not any bloke off the street.

MnerXX · 28/09/2018 13:24

Really great program - Posie and Matthew made some insightful comments. There wasn't really a decent discussion from the other side other than let's not be mean.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 28/09/2018 11:58

Sorry about my lack of paragraph, I don't know what happened to them.Confused

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 28/09/2018 11:56

Matthew Wright handled it well, constantly dragging the contributors back from personalising it to principles, but some of his observations (there was some nonsense about people in family homes sharing lavatories with members of the opposite sex) seem off-key. Is he lobbing stuff like that in because he needs to be seen to try to be neutral?

He used this argument many times in his TV show. When Terry Christian replied "but not at the same time", he looked confused as if he didn't understand Terry's point. I think he sees the stalls as an adequate safety barrier, and thinks women are complaining about having to use the same facilities as men, rather than at the same time.

I think the focus is on 'bathrooms' for a number of reasons, one being as they are seen as somewhere women go in pairs or to do their makeup, so exclusion from loos makes transpeople 'gender refugees' (I've seen this term a few times over the last few weeks and it's appeared on MN recently). So by being excluded from toilets, they are being excluded them from an essential part of a women's life 🤔

Changing the focus to other issue - safeguarding, the need to encourage girls into certain careers is proving difficult, but will need to be tackled eventually, even if tra succeed in removing female loos.

OkMaybeNot · 28/09/2018 11:32

I love you, Matthew Wright.

I thought you were a dick until recently, but mwah

heresyandwitchcraft · 28/09/2018 11:23

TalkRadio has been great. Julia Hartley-Brewer has been vocal about her opposition to self-ID, she's featured people like Dr Nic a number of times and usually reminds the listeners that there is an actual consultation that has been started by a Conservative government (i.e. not the "Left"). This is not just a "feminist" issue, or a "Left" issue, it is an anyone who cares about free speech/safeguarding/women's rights to self-determination issue.

I loved MWs closing line. ‘And perhaps they’re not being heard.’

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 28/09/2018 10:04

I thought that was really interesting. Did you notice that the presenter (?) Daisy, even with all the "but be nice!" stuff, still couldn't bring herself to say that TWreallytrulyAW, or that human beings can change sex?

She knows it's kool-aid. In her heart she knows it is.

ToeToToe · 28/09/2018 09:53

When Matthew was talking to Harry Doyle, Matthew sounded like a wise old grandfather talking gently to a petulant child. Gently explaining that everyone must be allowed a say, and that we must not shut down discussion.

I wonder if it has ever occurred this very young man, that he might not be right about everything, at the tender age of 22.

BeUpStanding · 28/09/2018 09:53

happydappy2 Apparently because it's unkind to remind people that they used to be the opposite sex. That's what the woman on the show said

thatdamnwoman · 28/09/2018 09:51

I have no idea who Paula Wright, the 'brilliant academic' he brought on was, but her simpering and giggling and refusal to take the issue on leaves me thinking that if she's a leading feminist academic it's no ruddy wonder we're in this woeful situation. Posie was excellent: calmly and crisply stating the obvious in the face of 'let's be nice' naivety all round.

The next question is how to we convey the seriousness of loss of rights in these tiny sound-bite interviews. How can we get past the loos and changing rooms to make it clear to those listening and watching that if anyone can be a woman, even if they have a beard and a functioning penis and look like a man, then women's hard fought-for rights will have been eroded for the sake of not offending a few men? Posie had a go at it but MW ignored it to concentrate on loos.

happydappy2 · 28/09/2018 09:47

Mathew asked a valid question that no one answered, why can’ Trans women be trans women & women be women?
This to me is fundamentally the biggest question.
Who has any right to state TWAW?

BeUpStanding · 28/09/2018 09:42

Who was that woman, saying we all just need to be more kind to men? She has been socialised well! No need to send her to the gulag for restore her patriarchy factory settings. She gets extra rations of woke cookies instead!

NotANotMan · 28/09/2018 09:19

'Be kind' is the most pernicious, harmful exhortation to women and the need to 'be kind' is responsible for women handing over their rights on both a personal and political level.
Don't be fucking kind. Be fierce, be ethical, be rational, be respected.

breastfeedingclownfish · 28/09/2018 09:17

The 'being kind' thing from that woman is just barking. Being kind to other people doesn't mean giving them all your rights or everything you have. We can be kind to homeless people by giving donations, practical advice and our campaigning efforts. We don't need to give them our fucking houses.

FloralCup · 28/09/2018 09:16

Huge apologies to JHB!
I think the woman I am talking about is called Daisy (she sounds very much like JHB - and speaks the same way. Didn't help that a picture of J kept scrolling across the top of the screen too)

NotANotMan · 28/09/2018 09:00

Julia Hartley brewer doesn't believe transwomen are women. She's been reported to the police for making a joke about university 'safe spaces' on twitter

breastfeedingclownfish · 28/09/2018 08:54

I have never heard of this woman before, but she is breathtakingly trecherous to women. Complete capitulation to men.

LangCleg · 28/09/2018 08:42

I have taken an instant dislike to Paula Wright, the stupid uninformed woman who clearly doesn't give a shit about other women.

FloralCup · 28/09/2018 08:39

Was that JHB on Matthew's show? I'm sure she said that. Or did I mishear her - will listen again.

Charliethefeminist · 28/09/2018 08:32

Julia hb doesn't think twaw

FloralCup · 28/09/2018 08:31

Julia HB was on with Matthew.
I've only just started listening to her - from the shows I've heard she seemed quite sensible. So how can someone who is fairly intelligent believe transwomen are women? I don't understand.

ToeToToe · 28/09/2018 08:00

Matthew Right get's it. He's very gender critical - and yes, he did leave the The Wright Stuff rather than apologise for the Paris Lees incident.

I wouldn't call him a feminist - but that's ok. This is almost beyond feminism now - it affects everyone. Feminism has been appropriated by trans-activist, anyway - and those who would not put women's and girl's best interests at the fore.

When you've got men like Dr Harrop telling the world, in tweets dripping with venom, that posie is not a feminist - then you know even feminism is being taken over now - with the demand that we centre males. Madness.

HandsOffMyRights · 28/09/2018 07:58

Glad Posie got to the nub of the elephant's trunk in the room.

"But TW don't want to be reminded they were once men.."

Posie "Hang on, most of those you are talling about have not had GRS. They still have their penis"

The public needs to know this!!!!
