Oops, forgot to add your moniker: R0wantrees

If all gender non-conforming girl children were transed into 'men', TRAs would have no lesbians to harass. Pretty sure they haven't thought this aspect through either.

IKeepFlouncing · 04/11/2018 16:32

Pamcrosslands likes to post YouTube videos filming ‘terfs’ As they called them, funny that the very thing that was bitched about in Court while back from TRAs.

Crosslands is another hanger on, worthy of blocking.

Aunty and Uncle - Fuckoff! Not creepy at all rubschin

R0wantrees · 04/11/2018 12:01

Yes. Across the board: not just about trans issues.

Another fundamental reason why we have safeguarding. It's to protect from the well-meaning but harmful as much as it is to protect from the deliberately malign.

This ^^

Its is absolutely across the board and seen within professionals, volunteers, advocacy groups etc

Great points Lang and Talking.

TalkingintheDark · 04/11/2018 11:50

Yy, LangCleg.

TalkingintheDark · 04/11/2018 11:50

Adults with unresolved issues of their own often project those issues onto children in their lives or that they see around them/know of through media, and while believing that they are advocating for the children, are actually trying to vicariously heal whatever damage they sustained themselves.

It’s a narcissistic approach in that on a fundmental level, they’re incapable of seeing the child concerned as a separate individual with their own unique experience, personality and needs, but only as a kind of extension or reproduction of themselves.

As you say, they “lack the ability to critically reflect and centre the needs of the people they should be supporting.” And not just the ability, but the will to do so, too.

LangCleg · 04/11/2018 11:49

I think that some adults can become very invested in (often unresolved) issues that they relate to personally. It happens a lot in situations where there are children & vulnerable adults and however well meaning they often lack the ability to critically reflect and centre the needs of the people they should be supporting.

Spot on, R0wantrees.

Its a very common issue in social care, charity settings etc.

Juells I think its a concerning comment for many reasons.

I can't stop sniggering at Joss posting this about Joss, while still pretending not to be Joss: "you should follow her you would learn a lot!"

I'm cringing myself inside out Grin

Juells · 04/11/2018 10:58

R0wantrees

That doesn't sound at all like child grooming, does it?

Branleuse · 04/11/2018 10:52

Joss Prior comes over as quite thick in this video

R0wantrees · 04/11/2018 10:47

I'm always a bit suspicious of anyone who used 'auntie' in their posting name as well.

Joss Prior on Posie Parker, feminism & Mumsnet FWR boards etc

Morning Joss! Happy Sunday to you!

Ereshkigal · 04/11/2018 10:42

Joss basically tried to twist Lisa's words and use her own arguments against her, while pretending they were Joss's own analysis. Only the effect was to show the difference in intellect. JP obviously doesn't really get what Lisa's talking about.

Just watched that. Cringe. Aside from what you mentioned, I can see that Joss feels a need to be amusing or pithy in Joss's observations, but due to the lack of any charm, wit or charisma it falls rather flat.

IKeepFlouncing · 04/11/2018 10:37

Julles it’s almost as vomit inducing as the adult who puts Elf Princess in their profile.

Another one worthy of block list.

Juells · 04/11/2018 10:33

Princess is not generally a moniker favoured by grown adult women

I'm always a bit suspicious of anyone who used 'auntie' in their posting name as well.

Or anyone who talks about how we should be concentrating on period poverty rather than being silly about female spaces.

Whenever I see anything about Joss my mind starts playing the backing track for Tainted Love.

Joss Prior did a response to Lisa Muggeridge that was pretty embarrassing.

BlardyBlar · 04/11/2018 09:40

Well I read that Leighton quote and my only reaction was
Posie derailed a New Age gender-bollox meeting? Go Posie!

Some things backfire.

Have a lovely Sunday all.
