Girlguiding expels leaders who question trans policy

I’m going to make a wild guess and say that I don’t think the Teli Twitter account is operated by any actual legal professionals.

Assume it’s that Hewitt person. Makes the whole thing look very unprofessional (as does a single yearly conference two years ago. They should be on their third by now).

Is anyone else bothered as to why/how an organisation like TELI with high-profile legal members can get away with automatically labelling all those who appear on programmes or share discussions with them as "transphobic"?

I don't believe that in a million years. And Woman's Hour and Newsnight both refused to cover this story, when coverage might have made a difference, earlier in the year. Why? I'm not grateful. I don't think it's a useful peak transing of more people. This was a public show of power, and of our powerlessness. They know how bad it looks, its deliberate. It's parading round with the good guy's head on a pole, to show that there is fuck all anyone can do about it.

I am not saying that AC, aged 16, would necessarily be a threat to Girl Guides. But I am saying that if AC were a threat because of her damaging upbringing, and her interesting interests, that threat is greater as a male bodied, physically stronger person.

And her sex offending, adult baby father would clearly be a threat.

What I don’t get, is why the trans girl is assumed to take priority over other girls who may not want to share their space with penises. Why can’t could the trans girl not join the scouts?

You don't need a single sex space to become a girl. You can do it in a mixed group like the scouts. This does not box you into a corner, and keeps your options open, which is important when you are young.

To your point 'trans girls aren't any less girls than others and therefore have just as much right to be a GC as all the other girls but what about girls being allowed to become scouts? that's fine because nothing has to change for poor oppressed women and they just get more opportunities now but yeah let's just alienate trans people even more by pushing them out of all spaces because people are concerned that the trans girl who just wants to fit in and be in a safe space with other girls is going to touch up their precious daughters and make things all about 'men'
