...explain to me the intellectual process that got you there? I promise -and as far as I can I promise on behalf of other people - not to challenge or argue and only ask clarification questuons. I just want to understand, even if I don't agree.
@FlibbertyGiblets actually somebody posted something about trans women in women's spaces being a gateway to abuse of women's spaces by paedophiles, voyeurs and rapists as though cisgender women could never be any of those things.
Ah, we are doing the "some women do bad things therefore all spaces should be mixed sex" argument again.

Why? Why do some men get a free pass into women's spaces just because they identify as a woman? I know lots of absolutely lovely men, they don't get to come in women's spaces because they are male.

If anything, the men I absolutely don't trust are the ones insisting they should be in women's spaces, any man who doesn't listen to women saying "no" is dangerous.

Makes? Males

334bu · 06/10/2021 07:35

Has it ever occurred to any of you that the 1% could be higher as victims of cisgender women feel too embarrassed/ashamed to come forward and report?

Getting desperate here 50?
Anyway, wonder how many sex assaults by makes go unreported?

NiceGerbil · 06/10/2021 02:47

The fact the law for rape in England Wales is defined as non consensual penetration with a penis.

Is the only law where there is any chance of seeing impact of recording by self declared gender.

The stats are indeed getting more.. unusual in recent times.

People without penises can be charged with rape if they are heavily involved in assisting a rape, IE a penis person or people need to be there to carry out the rape. Non penis people being charged for assisting is rare.

Penetration with anything not a penis. The crime is called sexual assault by penetration. I forget the exact wording but penetration is definitely in there.

The max sentence etc is same as rape.

Suggesting that people will view penetration with eg an object as anything other than horrendous is unlikely surely.

No need to change the law.

And don't forget men and boys are raped by men as well. Knowing that means another man penetrating him against his will. I think that is a specific type of violation.

And not forgetting additional risks when penis involved if no condom. And even then possible.

Pregnancy.
Being infected with various STDs, some of them really nasty. And all the additional consequences.
@foxgoosefinch if any person used something other than a penis in a form of psychological abuse and violation of my body I'd call it rape. The law needs fixing. "Sexual assault" waters down vile acts.
What the Law says is what is applied, not what you think it should say or what you would like it to say.

You want it changed start a campaign to change it, but until you do and it is changed then the Law is what it says.

British Law states that only someone using a penis to penetrate can commit rape.

Only males have penises, therefore the crime can only be committed by a male.

I don't know that we can even actually be sure that all of that tiny 1% of 'women' convicted of rape were born female

"In England and Wales, the Crown Prosecution Service has stated that it is unable to confirm the sex of the 436 individuals accused of rape between 2012 and 2018 who were recorded as women, because this would entail manually examining every case file.

@334bu it is not transphobic as there was no attack or hatred towards any gender identity, merely querying motives of convicted sex offenders.

Has it ever occurred to any of you that the 1% could be higher as victims of cisgender women feel too embarrassed/ashamed to come forward and report?

334bu · 06/10/2021 00:12

334bu well, I suppose the idea is that they've decided to identify as trans women post conviction in order to commit further acts upon release in a new identity, essentially taking advantage of transgenderism for their own twisted endeavours.
This is quite a transphobic statement. Stonewall tells us that we must accept a person's stated gender identity. No gatekeeping necessary and transphobic to query. Are you saying that you believe that male abusers will use a false identity to gain access to female only spaces? We'd better put in place policies which will exclude all males , no matter their gender identity.

334bu · 06/10/2021 00:06

1% of all sex offenders are female so chances of running into one of them is tiny. Opening up female sex spaces to males , the risks of running into sex offenders sky rockets.

334bu · 05/10/2021 23:57

would be interesting to know if the 40% of prisoners who are sex offenders and identify as trans women do so before or after conviction

Why? What does that change? Acceptance without exception 55. They say they are transwomen then they are transwomen or is that not what Stonewall says?

50greyshades · 05/10/2021 23:57

FlibbertyGiblets · 05/10/2021 23:50

I'm out.

Bert I am sorry your resurrected thread has been hijacked.

FlibbertyGiblets · 05/10/2021 23:48

No one is saying that women are never sex offenders. We are correcting your assertion that women in the UK are rapists. This is incorrect. Rape in the UK means penetration by a penis, it is a crime perpetrated by men.

50greyshades · 05/10/2021 23:47

50greyshades · 05/10/2021 23:42

You can't refute the statistics but you can refute the delusion that cisgender women can't be sex offenders, however common or rare it is.

334bu · 05/10/2021 23:29

Female sex offenders are scum and it is a blessing that there are so few of them..Male sex offenders are also scum and unfortunately there are so many of them.
@colourmagic I think the line between rape and sexual assault is vague and if Vanessa George, Myra Hindley or Rose West had done that to my child I'd call it rape not sexual assault. Sexual assault is a form of rape ultimately.
Whatever you call it, the definition in law is clear. Only someone using a penis to penetrate can commit rape in British law. Penetration by other means is sexual assault.

50greyshades · 05/10/2021 23:17

ColourMagic · 05/10/2021 23:06

@50greyshades

In British law rape is penetration by a penis. So women can never commit rape.

The vast majority of sexual crime is perpetrated by the male sex.
In contrast female sexual offending is rare. Only 1% of sexual crime is committed by the female sex.
This is clearly evidenced by official prison statistics.

.
Ministry Of Justice Offender Management Statistics obtained for 31st March 2019 show that 99% of the 13359 sex offenders in prison in England and Wales were male (13,234 prisoners).

Only 1% of sex offenders were female (125 prisoners).

334bu · 05/10/2021 23:06

Who is deluding themselves? I am quite aware that 0.2% of the convicted sex offenders in this country are female and that ,just as for male offenders, there will be many who will not be convicted.
Of the 98% who are male sex offenders;men, transwomen and non binary people born male there is no evidence to suggest that gender identity lessens the likelihood of being a sex offender.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/10/2021 23:04

Try asking that question on Billy Bragg's facebook page. There are an awful lot of people there who say that TWAW. They also call women horrible, defamatory, dehumanising names. It is a deeply depressing place.

It's all misogynistic posturing.

Nellodee · 05/10/2021 22:56

And if I buy a lottery ticket, I’ve got just as much chance to win the lottery as anyone else (despite them having bought 100 tickets). Your understanding of statistical probability seems very askew, I’m afraid.
