Woman kills 3 before fatally shooting herself at Rite Aid distribution center in Maryland, officials say

edition.cnn.com/2018/09/20/us/maryland-shooting/index.html

The suspected shooter — a 26-year-old woman — was transported to the hospital, where she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to authorities.

Snochia is transgender. No idea if they were born male or female but we can't discuss male pattern violence or why transmen commit violence at the same rates as men (and transwomen) because these words don't have any meaning now.

This is where we are at. When we say woman no longer means what it used to, they will twist it against us and say that's an argument for using 'c*s'.

Charliethefeminist · 22/09/2018 12:57

All major media organisations know that 'woman' no longer has meaning when they use it it any kind of report, crime, stats, business or otherwise. Rather than seeing the error of their ways, they will deploy this lack of meaning to argue for the introduction and normalisation of the prefix 'c*s'.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/09/2018 10:50

I find it pointless to speculate on individual cases.

The problem is that everyone is speculating because the words man and woman have had their meaning eroded in the press.

But not in the public (although it's getting there).

Most people would have read "woman rapes and kills 20 men" for eg at face value last year.

Now I think more would think... "Hmmmm"...

Problem is the news can no longer be taken as factual and people are left to draw their own conclusions, which will be different depending on who they are.

The loss of trust that facts will be reported is a massive issue and ties in well with all the stuff with trump telling bald faced lies, russian bots spreading all sorts of misinfformation etc. We are on a road to no-one knowing what's up or down any more and so reverting to just having beliefs and consuming messages that support them and ignoring messages that refute them. Confirmation bias gone global and with all news outslets.

This is an end of civilsation scenario.

The fact that teh crime stats are fucked is so incredibly disamying, that authorities all over teh world are colluding in the obfuscation of what is happening, the result is a cover up of male violence.

DukeOfSussex · 22/09/2018 07:28

we have been here before the woman in April was a biological woman it as been confirmed a number of times and maybe just wait a little bit for conformation on this one too just a thought

What confirmation though? We may well not get any confirmation because it will go down as however the police decide to define it. Part of the thread though was discussing why transmen don't get the same consideration in reporting which is both a trans issue and a feminist issue as it's specific to female transpeople. Intersectionality. It's important.

Reporting a trans woman as a woman yet also a trans man as a woman allows people to gleefully proclaim "see, women are just as violent" and "women do it too" in both instances and also gets added to the "female" crime statistics I presume. You'd almost start to wonder is it a calculated effort to skew the data...

Ereshkigal · 21/09/2018 21:37

The double standard is a thing. I think this is a woman and they don't care about misgendering women.

Example:

Compare with this from the same newspaper. Read the whole thread where they are challenged on the lie that this is a woman:

Jesus my colleagues are lucky. I frequently arrive at work in a foul mood.

NotTerfNorCis · 21/09/2018 21:29

Given the generally sympathetic tone of the article and the people quoted, I'd say this is a transwoman who they are being careful not to 'misgender'.

One person said she'd seen her friend get shot in the head.

He told The Washington Post of the shooter: 'Normally, she was a nice person, but she came in in a bad mood. She wanted to pick a fight.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 21/09/2018 21:24

I have been gobsmacked at some of the mugshots for female criminals and the verbal gymnastics carried out by reporters and police. 'She was described at 6'3 with a beard'

Ereshkigal · 21/09/2018 21:18

I think so too. So why are they referring to her as a "she" if she identifies as transgender? We all know this would never happen if the person was a trans woman, even if they were clearly male.

Because of the aforementioned double standard.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 21/09/2018 20:53

(The YouTube shooter)

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 21/09/2018 20:52

This is Nasim Aghdam, and she looks pretty female to me. genderidentitywatch.com/2018/04/17/nasim-aghdam-usa/

Lazypoolday · 21/09/2018 20:50

This is a biological female.

100%. No debate.

Charliethefeminist · 21/09/2018 20:47

I've seen and think I still have a screenshot of a social media bio saying 'trans'

Woman (maybe) kills 3.
TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 21/09/2018 20:44

I wondered about that, but I've seen nothing to confirm that. She was an animal rights activist, vegan, obsessive about exercise, fixated on her YouTube channel, nursing a grievance against YouTube/Google for demonetising it (if that's the word).

Charliethefeminist · 21/09/2018 20:40

I think that was a transwoman

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 21/09/2018 20:36

To be fair, there was a mass shooting at Google earlier this year which I think was carried out by a woman.

HamsterToast · 21/09/2018 20:34

I knew this would turn out this way. The actions are just not what women do.

Are you in the US, TurfClub? Both those links are unavailable over here, annoyingly. Something to do with data protection and cookies, I suppose.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 21/09/2018 19:25

It's for protection don't you know? Although very very few 'bad dudes' are taken down by an upstanding member of the public with their handy gun.

AngryAttackKittens · 21/09/2018 19:22

American gun control laws are a joke. You have to wonder what it would take to get permanently banned from gun ownership - maybe if you walked up to a judge, handed them your ID and a signed declaration that you intended to commit a massacre? Even then the NRA would probably fight it.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 21/09/2018 19:00

Posted on the other thread. Two possible scenarios here.

  1. Moseley was biologically female and was taking testosterone. In this case, I think given this is the US and Moseley was not earning a lot of money I would say it's a not unreasonable surmise that the hormones were purchased over the internet, without medical supervision.
  1. Moseley was biologically male and possibly taking oestrogen. We know from that recent Australian case that taking hormones that aren't the ones your body naturally produces can make everything go haywire.

Either way, I very strongly suspect (as I said on the other thread) that Moseley possibly came out as trans because being a gender nonconforming, possibly gay person was just totally unacceptable to the family. Being gay is perceived by many deeply religious, socially conservative people as a moral choice and a bad one. Being trans can be spun as a medical problem which doctors can fix. 'Yes, so sad, s/he was born in the wrong body - but the doctor said that taking hormones and having surgery will help them become their authentic self in no time'.

AspieAndProud · 21/09/2018 18:57

Moseley was described as a woman on Thursday

Well, you can be a woman on Thursday, a man on Friday, non-binary at the weekend, then a furry for the rest of the week. It's 2018, you know.
