Andrea, formerly Andrew, killed parents & their pet chihuahua. Andrea allowed brother Christopher to escape.

Andrea has long blamed the murders on the lack of affirmation of gender identity by the parents, but has now come up with a new excuse, that mum was overly affectionate.

We are expected to use female pronouns to refer to this monster.

GrumpGran8 I have tinnitus too, had it since I was 8 years old. Still haven't murdered anyone.

GrumpyGran8 · 25/02/2019 14:09

He also talked about hearing an occasional “tone” in his head that affects his thinking.
Yes, that's tinnitus. I've had this since childhood - it started as occasional episode of hearing a high-pitched tone. I was an adult before I found out not everyone had noises in their ear! Once I hit middleage, the episodes became longer and longer until it's now continuous. It can get annoying, but I've learned how to not let it affect my life.

But it certainly would have added to this boy's illness, especially as their are now lots of conspiracy sites saying it's a real noise and part of a government conspiracy to control people.

WowWowWomen · 25/02/2019 00:21

I think my arms would hurt if I stabbed people over twenty times, I think it would be really hard to do. I doubt it ever just happens. On Halloween, with a dog murder and someone left to tell the story. This makes me think of We Need To Talk About Kevin.

Premeditated murder as minor, you might get out one day.

Declared insane, you are never ever getting out.

If someone decides they are Jesus or the Devil or whatever the press doesn't then use that name to describe them and refer to them as Dark Overlord or Him so why on earth do they play along with this?

That poor family.

GunpowderGelatine · 25/02/2019 00:15

Man fucks up and blames the nearest woman. Same shit, different day

QuietContraryMary · 25/02/2019 00:05

There is a bit on this here

www.mirror.co.uk/news/real-life-stories/i-stabbed-parents-dog-dont-14026111

"When her mum had discovered Andrea was still awake, she had come to check on her – and while Alice was giving Andrea one of her comforting hugs, Andrea had plunged the knife repeatedly and fatally into her back.

Terfing · 05/12/2018 21:25

I feel awful for the brother. He essentially has a life sentence too, even though he's innocent

Vegilante · 05/12/2018 20:38

Explaining some of the reasoning behind the 40-year sentence, the judge noted that in the call to 911 (emergency services), “The defendant seemed thrilled by her actions on the night in question.”

I didn't listen, but this article has the 911 recording:

www.centralmaine.com/2018/12/04/balcer-sentenced-to-40-years-in-prison-in-parents-halloween-2016-slayings-in-winthrop/

BTW, I emailed the reporter & asked whether Balcer would be placed in a men's or women's prison - & where Balcer has been held during the 2+ years of detention since the killings. She emailed back that she didn't know. Skimming through the state of Maine's published policy on transgender inmates, it seems there will be an evaluation process before a decision is made.

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 05/12/2018 16:18

The brother clearly doesn't believe any of it

andyoldlabour · 05/12/2018 16:18

I wonder when they compile the crime stats, will this tragic double murder be allocated as a crime committed by a man or by a woman?

GraceTheDisgrace · 05/12/2018 16:15

Anyway, I've had tinnitus (moderate since age 8, severe since age 34) and that does not make a person a murderer, trust me. Tired yes, murderer no.

HestiaParthenos · 05/12/2018 16:09

What's next, will this person demand mercy from the judge because of being an orphan?

QuietContraryMary · 05/12/2018 16:02

Andrea has been sentenced to 40 years.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6461363/Teen-killed-parents-sentenced-40-years.html

Andrea's attorney plead 'not supporting me enough in my gender transition' in mitigation for the crime.

"Andrea Balcer told the dispatcher she stabbed her mother in the back before stabbing her father when he awoke to his wife's screams. She told detectives she stabbed her mother while she was hugging her. A military-style knife was found stuck in the floor near her father's body.

She also killed the family pet, a Chihuahua, but allowed her brother to escape, telling him, 'It's not your day,' the brother said."

AngryAttackKittens · 20/09/2018 14:07

That occurred to me too as soon as I saw the photo of the parents, cynical creature that I am.

You'd think that might have been considered before the individual in question brutally murdered their parents, but hey ho, having a gender is very confusing.

BettyDuMonde · 20/09/2018 14:02

Exiles Motorcycle Club.

A fellow member died in a crash at Balcer snr’s memorial ride.

DickTERFin · 20/09/2018 13:59

The trans thing could be entirely a red herring.

There is no way of knowing that he even “came out” to his parents, much less that they weren’t supportive, it could quite conceivably just be part of a defense ruse cooked up by a psychopath and he wasn’t gender questioning for a single second before he decided he wanted to slaughter his family.

BettyDuMonde · 20/09/2018 13:43

A cynical person might conclude that a transfer from male juvenile detention into the women’s estate, thus bypassing the adult male estate entirely, is a particularly appealing option when of your murder victims was a member of an outlaw motorcycle club.

Lots of club members and their associates in prison, looking to level up...

www.vox.com/2015/5/19/8625981/outlaw-motorcycle-gangs-biker

(I can’t tell the dad’s exact association from the photos in the news stories but DH might be able to)

SlowlyShrinking · 20/09/2018 11:47

I’m really not trying to excuse what he’s done, sorry if it came across like that. Just really that I can see that to the wrong person, all the trans affirmation, your family is evil if they don’t accept you as a woman stuff could cause someone who had those tendencies to think killing his family if they didn’t agree with his delusions ok. And yes you’re all right, women don’t tend to do this kind of horrific family annihilation, very rarely, if at all. So it’s just more Male violence. And having hunting knives available and having killed animals in the past probably didn’t help.

AngryAttackKittens · 20/09/2018 11:22

The comment on the hair was so weird. Who does that while covering a murder trial?

TerfsUp · 20/09/2018 11:21

It's the Twinkie defence, ie "it's not my fault, guv".

Datun · 20/09/2018 11:15

A deeply disturbed individual, whatever the reasons.

Very difficult reading.

I agree the trans thing is irrelevant in terms of the crime.

But not in terms of the jarring use of female pronouns and complimenting his bloody lock of hair.

Whatever the reason is, whether you think it's nature or nurture, women don't do this sort of thing. Or very rarely.

Women's rights and issues are based partly on their actual biology in terms of maternity and childbirth, female cancers etc, but partly on the inherent power dynamic between men and women which disadvantages them.

This relentless determination to pretend it doesn't exist is so pernicious. Using compelled pronouns through politeness and being 'inclusive' is wilfully obscuring examples and causes of misogyny.

It's exhausting trying to crowbar feminism 101 into every single aspect of this argument.

WhereDoWeBeginToCovetClarice · 20/09/2018 11:12

It is a dangerous game trying to make humane sense of the incomprehensible inhumane things psychopaths do.

WhereDoWeBeginToCovetClarice · 20/09/2018 11:09

A psychopath is born a sociopath is made.

Some psychopaths do well for themselves - becoming surgeons, lawyers and GPs, but not all of them are that clever or able to manipulate the outcomes they want.

SlowlyShrinking · 20/09/2018 10:54

Good question. I expect some did and some didn’t? Most didn’t, of course and just kept it to themselves. Or had PTSD and took it out on those around them. Is there maybe a time window for psychopathy?
Of course, you could be a psychopath and not murder your parents, but loads of people online telling you how evil they are for not validating your identity probably helps to get to that point Sad

AsAProfessionalFekko · 20/09/2018 10:48

Can be both.

But then why didn't a generation of kids brought up or young men who saw action during WW2 not turn out to be wholesale murderous?

SlowlyShrinking · 20/09/2018 10:46

But is psychopathy a birth defect, or a response to abuse/neglect at an early age?
