Women on the left are responsible for austerity

I've heard it said that women on the left actually support and are therefore in some way responsible for austerity. This is because both Labour and the Tories support austerity. Therefore any woman who supports Labour, or the Left in general, also knowingly and consciously supports austerity and are therefore also responsible for the 1000s of deaths of disabled people caused by austerity. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

BettyDuMonde
None for squirrel sorry. I'm not a meat eater!

deepwatersolo · 19/09/2018 00:52

OPs Inigo Montoya-like obsession with her is starting to worry me a bit. Do we need to stage an intervention?

Carroty feels strong allegiance to those Labour women at the center of this WPUK affair. And Carroty insists to not, I repeat definitely not be on the left.

I'm calling it: Labour is not on the left. Which helps explain why they are fine with austerity.

AngryAttackKittens · 19/09/2018 00:42

Everyone turn on Lisa right now!

Have you seen Snowpiercer? Apparently roaches can hypothetically be made into a sort of deeply unpleasant energy bar.

That sounds excellent! 'Cause I imagine in a nomad world you need food with high energy density and stuff, so you can easily transport it... basically Ciff bars for after the revolution. I like it!

BettyDuMonde · 19/09/2018 00:38

Definitely a squirrel based dish - I’m not up for foraging for nuts.

Sadly, I’m not much of a cook either, got any good recipes, R0wan?

LightofaSilveryMoon · 19/09/2018 00:38

Labour doing fuck-all to fight austerity is a biggie, but not a surprise, for me. And I lived through Thatcherism and the Miners' Strike, in a coalfield area.

Currently politically homeless.

deepwatersolo · 19/09/2018 00:37

Well, Carrot, I obviously don't agree with the actions of some Labour politicians, trying to turn WPUK into a political machine for Labour, streamlined to reflect Labour's policies and all, clearly not. Nor does Lisa, I am sure. I believe she said as much.

CarrotyO · 19/09/2018 00:30

come on women, if you think this is true, then don't derail by talking about squirrels and nuts, be forthright! This is a serious accusation, lets hear it!

R0wantrees · 19/09/2018 00:28

Squirrel nibbles optional.

Are these nuts?
Or something akin to squirrel scratchings?

CarrotyO · 19/09/2018 00:28

you agree that is the hidden aim / agenda of wpuk?

CarrotyO · 19/09/2018 00:27

Sorry bad edit...

deepwaiterSolo you agree that they are gearing up to turning WPUK into a machine to prevent discussion of consensus that harms the left which is prevention of discussion of austerity?

So everyone on this thread agrees with this statement yes?

Yes, I do. But what do I know. I am just one of them darn breeders, who are not particularly popular in certain circles.

Btw: I have decided to diversify my food supply. First I thought, focus on roaches, but now that Lisa has fawned over those Cambodian spiders... I mean, chances are really good that roaches will inherit the Earth and all, but we shouldn't discount spiders either...

CarrotyO · 19/09/2018 00:18

Lisa, nobody actually agrees with those wild statements you are making.

As far as I am aware WPUK are upholding women and TIMs with GRC but no self ID
FPFW seems more 'we accept all TIMS are men, but in order to not initially get the public's back up, lets refer to some of them as 'she' unless specifically making a point about men in wigs in prison when out and about campaigning.
WNNT and the newer groups which have spung up most recently are 'fuck the lies, they are men and we are not messing with pronouns - being polite is whats got us into this shit

WP 5 campaign demands are:

  1. Respectful and evidence-based discussion about the impact of the proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act to be allowed to take place and for women’s voices to be heard. 2. The principle of women-only spaces to be upheld – and where necessary extended.
  2. A review of how the exemptions in the Equality Act (which allow for single sex services, or requirements that only a woman can apply for a job such as in a domestic violence refuge) are being applied in practice.
  3. Government to consult with women’s organisations on how self-declaration would impact on women-only services and spaces.
  4. Government to consult on how self-declaration will impact upon data gathering – such as crime, employment, pay and health statistics – and monitoring of sex-based discrimination such as the gender pay gap.

Bad dog! My cat tries to kill moths but she isn't very good at it.

BettyDuMonde · 19/09/2018 00:07

My dog kills squirrels. Doesn’t eat them though. I used to think she was being a bit of a shit but maybe she just hasn’t found the right recipe yet?

I’m not convinced that centring bisons in our intersectional analysis is the way forward. Maybe we should stick with women, see how that pans out?

Lisa, will you be coming to Manchester next week or do I have to come to Leeds to buy you a drink?
Squirrel nibbles optional.

AngryAttackKittens · 19/09/2018 00:05

"Why can't I make them fight??!", she cries in despair.

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 23:59

WPUK will now seek to prevent discussion of this which is explicitly about PREVENTING discussion of eight years of austerity which quite frankly women cant bear any more and has generated system failure

Everyone agrees with this, yes?

lisamuggeridge · 18/09/2018 23:50

Caroty you didnt answer my question about the squirrel so I threw it away and we ended up having prawns frm the freezer, noodles and a sandwich. I'll tell you when I go foraging again.

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 23:45

what they did to Posie was just what the left do and they are gearing up to turning WPUK into a machine to prevent discussion of consensus that harms the left which is prevention of discussion of austerity. You have to say no early and let covert behaviour reveal itself

So everyone on this thread agrees with this statement yes?

all have their place in the education of the public, I see them as a kind of 3 step programme, graduating from one to next

NettleTea · 18/09/2018 23:42

yup sorry WNTT

Anyone who wants to know what WPUK stand for can read their website womansplaceuk.org

For the specifics in response to GRA reform, read the guidance to help people fill in the consultation womansplaceuk.org/wpuk-guidance-on-gra-consultation/

As for what might be discussed with politicians who are willing to meet with WPUK, I expect it is along the lines of a) the reasons for their five demands, b) the sort of blogs and issues they raise and c) what they outline in their guidance on the GRA consultation.
