Women on the left are responsible for austerity

I've heard it said that women on the left actually support and are therefore in some way responsible for austerity. This is because both Labour and the Tories support austerity. Therefore any woman who supports Labour, or the Left in general, also knowingly and consciously supports austerity and are therefore also responsible for the 1000s of deaths of disabled people caused by austerity. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

anarcho-primative radical feminist who is opposed to industrial capitalism and agriculture.

Do you ever find youself disappearing down your own navel? Grin

Oh OK re contraception. Will the birth rate then fall far enough to save the earth? I'd like to see some modelling on that.

There is no chance in hell this could work on a plausible timeline. Except if we all go back to hunting and gathering, with the high mortality rates in child birth, maybe. I and my kid would definitely not be alive in that awesome pre-surgery world. So, that might help.

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 07:54

Lisa what is your view on radical feminism by the way? In general

No racecardriver. MEN are responsible for overpopulation. Men are 100% responsible for unwanted pregnancies. We need to empower girls and women to assert their boundaries and say NO to men.

Women ate also responsible for the deficit don't you know. They are more likely to be left leaning and economically illiterate. They are also the real cause of global warming and the war in Syria.

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 07:49

Erm you can’t survive by Hunter gathering here Lisa because all the wildlife has been killed, sorry.

Caroty I am being polite, this polite considering. Now I have to go forage some vegetables and bugs for sproglets tea in my new radical feminism phase..

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 07:45

You don’t like the idea that we should empower girls and women to be able to assert boundaries over their bodies? Hmm interesting.

It does sound a bit like making overpopulation uniquely women's problem to sort out. How about promoting vasectomy?

Control over our own bodies and reproductive systems is a basic human right. Not a tool to make us further responsible for solving all the world's problems.

This is a thought provoking thread. Wish I didn't have to work now.

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 07:43

Can I report that comment for misgendering under the new Mumsnet rules I wonder?

Lisa why are you being so rude? Lierre Keithe is a radical feminist. She spoke at a rad fem conference in London a couple years back. Look it up on YouTube.

That's what I get from it, Carroty.

You don't seem to be the person/people responsible for the issue.

I've no idea what else you may have said on other threads that caused people to think that. The derail and this thread seem to be unrolling in a parallel dimension.

lisamuggeridge · 18/09/2018 07:39

It was referring to another thread where Caroty's 'political'(lol) identity drove him to explain some rather intersting things about austerity and to demonstrate some things. He started this thread and then the hallucinations about foraging began. Radical feminist politics, thats kind of funny too.

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 07:37

I couldn’t grasp it either. I think she thought I was someone else, she was describing a different person with different politics.

apologies, lisa, I didn't see you were back on the thread when I posted.

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 07:36

They are very interesting. It’s funny to see people describe radical feminist theory as student politics.

It's really weird then that lisa was using language that seemed like a direct accusation to you, then carroty.

It was a generic "you" that is responsible for the events that she's talking about then, not a specific "you"?

That makes it even harder to grasp the point.

lisamuggeridge · 18/09/2018 07:35

But I am considering giving up modern life and just foraging for vegetables.

lisamuggeridge · 18/09/2018 07:34

I do not know Caroty and the only way I can explain this thread is hallucination. Occams razor innit?

SophoclesTheFox · 18/09/2018 07:34

I actually agree with you on the topic of overpopulation and the need to control that, carroty, and that empowering women is how you do that. That much I get! The rest? Not so much.

I've read some Lierre Keith & Derrick Jensen and found it very interesting.

deepwatersolo · 18/09/2018 07:34

If 75% of the worlds grasslands were restored all of the carbon since the Industrial Age would be sequestered within 15 years. On top of that the grasslands would allow herds of bison, deer etc to flourish. In other words we would have tons and tons of biomass and climate change would be halted.

And billions would starve. Why do you value bisons over humans and any new life forms that can evolve after a grand extinction event?

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 07:34

No I don’t know her

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 07:32

No I didn’t see your comment

Ah cross post

SophoclesTheFox · 18/09/2018 07:32

I was just racing to the end to post the same maybe!

Even the basic premise of what the people who are on it think it's about eludes me.

It seems to be about people deciding what views other people hold, and then taking extreme exception to them. And then the views that other people hold turn out to be not just different from what was being supposed but...ummmm...extremely niche?

Do you know each other, carroty and lisa? That's the bit that I can't fathom.
