Women on the left are responsible for austerity

I've heard it said that women on the left actually support and are therefore in some way responsible for austerity. This is because both Labour and the Tories support austerity. Therefore any woman who supports Labour, or the Left in general, also knowingly and consciously supports austerity and are therefore also responsible for the 1000s of deaths of disabled people caused by austerity. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I do tend to think that animistic religions are sort of the "natural" default setting for societies that live relatively close to nature, given awareness of natural rhythms and all that. Now that the patriarchal religions exist though I don't see them just meekly vanishing.

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 13:46

Same beyond. Religions are a reflection of human relationships in society

I agree carroty, the idea of earth/nature having any sort of "essence" makes more sense to me personally than a mystical omnipotent being. Was why I asked :)

A great deal of the "nastiness" in this thread has come from you, OP. Remove the mote in your own eye first and all that. You're coming across as focused on smiting Lisa to an extent that's really quite alarming to behold.

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 13:44

They are bullies

It is really interesting. I guess if you took the insights on board you would conclude that if we ever did (extremely unlikely but...) overturn class society and we lived in harmony with the natural world we’d probably have a more animist spirituality. People used to venerate the natural world.

Why the fuck has this thread that was started to discuss a fairly interesting statement about the culpability of left leaning women in austerity, made by someone who is increasingly becoming a public figure in the radical feminist movement, has become an all out attack on the person who started the thread and derailed. Totally ad hominem. Id have expected these tactics from TRAs, not on the FWR board tbh.

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 18/09/2018 13:41

Thank you, that does sound interesting. But doesn't really answer my question.

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 13:40

Patriarchal religions arose and developed at a very specific part of human history. The history of god by Karen Armstrong describes this very well.

Speaking of Jesus, how will religion work in this society? Will patriarchal religion exist at all?

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 13:37

Now we’re back to my political view that we should allow wildlife and plant life, woodlands and grasses to flourish, and you interpret that as me suggesting you should eat slugs?

There is such a core thread of nastiness running through this thread.

AngryAttackKittens · 18/09/2018 13:37

Helpful suggestion! Perhaps if you tried coming across as a bit less Jesus preaching to the heathens and a bit more peer to peer you might find discussion would flow more smoothly.

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 18/09/2018 13:36

What reading will girls do in a Hunter-gather society? Who will be writing?

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 18/09/2018 13:35

To disabled me, it sounds especially Final.

Unless you think I actually should subsist on slugs?

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 13:34

Evidence shows that the biggest factor in dropping the birth rate is teaching girls to read. That tiny bit of power makes a huge difference. You don’t like that solution?

OP posts:
UpstartCrow · 18/09/2018 13:32

No one likes your solution, it sounds a bit final.

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 13:32

I think it’s weird to argue against that

OP posts:
CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 13:30

She was proposing a different solution. She didn’t like my solution.

And that means that Dragon doesn't want women to be empowered (with bonus sarkiness and condescension) why, exactly?

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 13:25

I talked about empowering girls so they can assert their boundaries leading to a fall in the birth rate - as they are no longer being forced through unwanted pregnancies.

Dragon said she thought that was blaming women for overpopulation and that a better solution was vasectomies for men.

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 13:23

Would people prefer that high profile people on the left didnt take part in this fight? Is it only right wing people that we want to attract to this issue?

OP posts:
AngryAttackKittens · 18/09/2018 13:22

If you could also explain why you implied that Dragon didn't want women to be empowered that would be great too. Thanks!

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 18/09/2018 13:21

And your evidence for calling posie/mners racist is...?

CarrotyO · 18/09/2018 13:19

*Do you have any evidence of this? Had Lisa provided any?'

Lisa has specifically said on here (did you miss that?), she is not interested in going there, as she does not want to derail WPUK, which she thinks is in principle a good thing*

Right. So she is smearing someone and undermining a campaign group in this critical time without providing any evidence to back up her claims.

I propose that we milk the goats and "hunt" for fish, since I'm not sentimentally attached to those.

(Awaits lecture about, well, who knows, I'm sure there will be something.)
