#bonerwall

Wins internet today

GulagMilkMonitor · 16/09/2018 15:30

Lots of people saying it is a “disused area of Toxteth”. I remember one of the busiest bus routes (no.82 iirc) going down that road and then sitting at that corner for ages before it would turn to Aigburth, back when I trained in Liverpool.

PersistenceIsNotFutile · 16/09/2018 15:16

I hope their wives and children are ok.

GulagMilkMonitor · 16/09/2018 15:16

Jesus that twitter hashtag and the suicide threats if cis people don’t validate feelings is beyond disturbing.

I genuinely hope these people are ok.

Ereshkigal · 16/09/2018 15:04

To be fair, the hashtag is a good way to peaktrans a few more people.

So much.

Juells · 16/09/2018 14:52

Dear Lord those those tweets
"Women come in many different bodies and the scientific community agrees"

"I identify as being female for a multitude of reasons, each of them unique to me."
"Is #adulthumanfemale seriously the new thing the TERFs are trying to go with? Because it makes them sound really creepy, like incels. It also shows a clear lack of understanding of biology, as well as a huge heaping of sex essentialism."

CaptainBrickbeard · 16/09/2018 14:04

Luna your answer was so good - so clear, so irrefutable and so absolutely right - what a shame the poster who said ‘what if it was a poster defining white people?’ will never come back and reply to you. There is no possible refutation of what you said, so the poster won’t come back because they know they are wrong and you are right, but how disappointing that they will just go silent rather than admit that!

CrackpotsArePots · 16/09/2018 14:02

They think if they are pretty enough it makes it true

PersistenceIsNotFutile · 16/09/2018 13:54

To be fair, the hashtag is a good way to peaktrans a few more people.

PerverseConverse · 16/09/2018 13:27

Their "femaleness" is cringeworthy and laughable. Lots of men looking like my old male teachers in a dress and lipstick. I find it creepy as fuck. There's genuine gender dysphoria and then there's these men.

SophoclesTheFox · 16/09/2018 13:24

That hashtag!

Made me think of Burns...O wad some Pow'r the giftie gie us. To see oursels as ithers see us!

How do people live with that level of cognitive dissonance?

Ereshkigal · 16/09/2018 13:10

Loads of men hashtagging themselves as an 'adult human female' - they still haven't grasped the fact that you cant just take words and change the meaning of them to suit you. It's so ridiculous.

Yes I think they actually do think that. They are deluded.

MipMipMip · 16/09/2018 13:10

Interestingly the complain mention special care must be taken not to offend on the grounds of...sex, gender.... NOT gender reassignment. Oops!

Ereshkigal · 16/09/2018 13:07

Well that's certainly convinced me Toe!

ToeToToe · 16/09/2018 12:56

twitter.com/hashtag/adulthumanfemale?f=tweets&vertical=default&src=hash

Twitter antics of many males telling women what a woman is.

Elephantinacravat · 16/09/2018 12:43

That #adulthumanfemale hashtag in twitter is hilarious. Loads of men hashtagging themselves as an 'adult human female' - they still haven't grasped the fact that you cant just take words and change the meaning of them to suit you. It's so ridiculous.

PerverseConverse · 16/09/2018 12:39

@ToeToToe have you got a link please?

ToeToToe · 16/09/2018 12:27

Tara Hewitt's trying to make jokes, but can barely conceal the fury over the whole thing.

ToeToToe · 16/09/2018 12:24

It's all kicking off over at #adulthumanfemale twitter. Oh dear god Grin

"I'm an adult human female who also happens to be trans"

Er, no.

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 16/09/2018 11:11

Love this. I have one of the T-shirts, I'm almost tempted to go to Liverpool to get a selfie with the poster!

RedToothBrush · 16/09/2018 11:05

Swear Godmother @swearygodmother
Dying laughing here. Some dimwit has reported @HumanFemales’s billboard to the ASA for being offensive. Will they be complaining to the OED for the same reason? Fuckwits.

Is it offensive? You decide...

#sexmatters

It's not remotely offensive as it's stating the obvious and unless dictionaries should be burned I don't know how it can be argued as such.

A point here, though I don't 100% know if it's relevant or not.

What is this advertising? It's important about the nature of the advert. The ASA only covers normal advertising. It DOES NOT cover political advertising. Its out side its remit.

Meanwhile, political ads in non-broadcast media (posters, newspapers etc) whose principal function is to influence voters in local, regional, national or international elections or referendums are exempt from the Advertising Code. We can’t, therefore, look into complaints that political ads are misleading, harmful or offensive.

Now it seems a bit fuzzy here, and perhaps is a grey area because I can't see whether it HAS to be political campaigning directly relating to a particular election.

Certainly the poster's primary objective is to influence voters in a political manner. Its precisely why it was placed in Liverpool for the Labour Party conference.

I can't think of any other purpose for the poster but to influence voters and spark debate. It seems an easy argument to make.

So if anyone is connected with the campaign if reading, make sure you are fully aware of this and make the point if necessary.

The ASA only covers advertising FOR PRODUCTS or SERVICES that might be being advertised in a way that is offensive.

There is a reason that the ASA is not allowed to cover political advertising. Guess why? Because it would restrict free speech and political debate of important issues.

seafret Liverpool ReSisters and standingforwomen.com are two separate groups.

Liverpool ReSisters don't accept donations, we are a small group of independent feminists doing guerilla activism on a shoestring.

standingforwomen.com has a different approach, and is raising funds for larger bits of activism like the billboard.

The billboard was placed in Liverpool due to the Labour party conference here in September, in order to raise awareness.

Hope that helps. :)

PerverseConverse · 14/09/2018 23:43

Awesome!

seafret · 14/09/2018 23:43

Who did this (piece of excleence) then?! am I a bit confused.

But please do more! I have donated to Resisters and can manage one more this month.
