I have no words

It's not the original comment that affects me it's the comments section. I thought female erasure was a metaphor - not literal reality.

To think these campaigners are driving public policy. The comments section is truly terrifying.

Hiding wombs, who knew?

Natsku · 12/09/2018 20:04

Here's a gem from that twitter thread - this person thinks that transmen getting pregnant is actually male pregnancy. Oh and they also think wombs are invisible on ultrasounds unless they have a baby in them.

Have you noticed the competitiveness thing?

LGBT Goldsmiths was desperate to prove they were more leftie than anyone else and they were more righteous because of how good the Stalinists were at their height.

Lily in going on about giving birth, is desperate to prove their ability to give birth more than any other trans person.

All are desperate to prove how they are more oppressed than everyone else.

It's extreme in its desire to 'prove' what we demonstrably know to be untrue. The confidence with which is said is designed to make you doubt yourself and capitulate in some way.

Why this need to constantly go further and more extreme?

Attention yes. But also because of a deep desire to convince themselves and to reinforce the fragility of their own facade. And perhaps more sinister to convince followers.

Hence repetition after repetition and the idea that anything that challenges that fragility is unkind or nasty or harmful.

The problem is that the truth was that millions died under Stalin - why create a narrative than sanitises that, unless you want to replicate in someway?

Why create a story about how you can still have kids, when the truth is you are knowingly encouraging others to harm themselves and in the process end their child bearing ability?

And the extremeness of they illicits greater emotional responses in individuals, than comments which don't go as far. Their power is in their extremeness - and who they are targeted at. Its people 'like them' and this desire to create victimhood and enemies in order to manipulate and psychologically control.

These are not neutral comments.

There is a programme about lying/telling the truth on BBC Iplayer at the moment (watch it, it's good). In it there's one point when the psychologist talks about why Trump can get away with such lies, and he explains the use of a psychological device to effectively manipulate people. We are designed to instinctively to trust our instincts in a fight or flight response. The effect can be used in order to elicit trust in dubious politicians by provoking emotional response in the same manner. This lowers our guard and makes us vulnerable to political messages which suggest we (or our people) are under threat and makes us more likely to trust the person 'warning us' of the 'threat'.

Look at this through this lens and think, what is Lily doing here? Deliberately provoking women to 'attack' (challenge the lies) in a way that tries to frame Lily as a victim?

Its an attempt to lower the guards of people who emotionally connect or feel sympathy for Lily into accepting the 'truth' Lily tells by confusing their instinctive reaction to protect Lily with what Lily says.

The more extreme and the more emotive the more power it creates for a leader over followers.

There is a slight clash here, I might add when it comes to women. Women are conditioned - because of our role in looking after children - to be hyper aware of these kind of tactics and threats in everyday life. It's no different when it comes to politics.

And whilst the political tactic still works on women, it's noticeable that the effect is perhaps different and less effective in women who have previous experience of manipulation or have children. They seem more immune to the effect of the abuse of power. #Metoo's emotion provoking response is so powerful in its truth as a result of the same thing.

And in the case of extreme TRAs, women are also identifying correctly, how this effect is being used against their interests.

The lack of critical thinking on LM's Twitter is fucking mindblowing. How stupid are they???

And the twits who reply to her - 'how fantastic!' 'Is there room for a uterus in a man's body?'

WTAF???

BrendasUmbrella · 12/09/2018 17:01

Transmascs? I think I see.

Transwomen are definitely women, because nobody important is objecting to that, but men are iffy about accepting transmen as male and we don't want those be-suited vagina havers to rock our boat, so we'll just relabel them. Nobody important will object to that...

TerfsUp · 12/09/2018 16:21

All they need is a pair of ruby slippers to click together for the fantasy to be complete.

Onlyhappywhenitrains1 · 12/09/2018 15:02

The fact that certain people actually believe that a man could have a baby just by waking in a uterus and pumping in a few hormones shows how little comprehension they have for the biological differences between males and females.

It's not surprising people with that little understanding of biology genuinely believe that males can be/become females.

Lancelottie · 12/09/2018 13:03

There has apparently been one live birth following a uterine transplant - notably, to a woman with an otherwise functioning reproductive system and her own ovaries, so nothing like the challenge of somehow connecting a female organ into a male body. It was reported in the Lancet a few years ago. I think so far she's the only one, and she's female, so anyone dangling this as a prospect in front of dim or desperate male teenagers is being stupidly irresponsible.

Vegeetas · 12/09/2018 12:47

My wife pointed this at me last night, now I am nothing close to a scientist but even a moron can follow the problems with this twit and the theories.

1 - The article was from Nov 2017 - There has been no updates whatsoever. Having actually read the article, it says it might be possible but is highly irresponsible.

2 - Having done some very basic reading the, "reciever" of the womb would need to have constant HRT to allow the correct nutrition and connections to work, they would need constant immunisuppressants so their body doesn't reject the womb, they would need constant medical supervision and possibly a hermetically sealed environment as the strength of the immunosuppressant would mean that a common cold would be very bad indeed, anything worse possibly life threatening.

3 - All of item 2 make one hell of a nasty cocktail for the potential baby - at best if it survived it would be sick forever pretty much - (as you already know) lots of beneficial antibodies etc are passed on from mother to baby, this would NOT happen in this case.

You actually have to be a total f**knut job to think this is in any way eithically or scientifically viable and what about the baby ffs?

I think back in 2015/16 the NHS trialed womb transplants from donor card holders into 6 women as a trial and I haven't actually read anything about success / failiure.

If you read the comments from some of the total nutters who have replied on the thread, you have biological women basically offering to give their wombs up to these "female" pretenders. What is going on with the world?

When did science become so evil to people that we could just ignore it and write it off if it doesn't fit the narrative?

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 12/09/2018 10:59

Labour doesn’t care 🤷‍♀️
All lily has done is expose how little the party cares for the women’s officer role. If it had any respect or status within the party they would never tolerate lily being in place.

TerfsUp · 12/09/2018 10:54

That sounded snippy, Terf.

Not at all! You sounded exasperated and I understand completely.

Descent · 12/09/2018 10:03

Perhaps Lily should have hit the books a little more often at school instead of being fixated on what clothes to wear. What an absolute dunderhead!

sorenipples · 12/09/2018 09:58

I suspect LM is getting material for whatever she is doing in LA at the moment.

There was a strange tweet about people knowing her gender. Which I read in a way that seems very mature and self aware and not how the supportive twitter follower comments take it. It seems deliberate to goad gender critical posters to make reference to her biological sex.

Bluecloudyskies · 12/09/2018 09:56

They have got serious MH problems. If I was his family I’d be really concerned.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 12/09/2018 09:50

in fact he makes me feel sick, sitting around in a short skirt with his stringy boysie legs stuck out like he is sexy or something. because that is what women do right? sit around in miniskirts being sexy?

Labour is a joke. This combined with the anti Semitism thing is gonna be their downfall. How can you take them seriously as politicians?

Nicknamesalltaken · 12/09/2018 09:47

As a Labour Party woman’s Officer, someone really needs to step in and have a word with LM.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 12/09/2018 09:44

Frankly - this is a very unwell boy.

DodoPatrol · 12/09/2018 09:42

That sounded snippy, Terf. This stuff is all a bit near home with some of the kids at DD's school at present, and any attempt at mentioning reality seems to be Instant Transphobia.

DodoPatrol · 12/09/2018 09:41

It doesn't make me laugh.

It's possible that Lily has simply believed everything Lily has been told.

Even if Lily is deliberately on a wind-up, other teenagers may read this stuff and believe they can genuinely switch sex and become pregnant 'because science, and you don't know everything, and it's not like Your Days, Mum'; or in the case of girls, believe they can become male and father babies; or at least think that it's OK to fool others into accepting a fake penis without informed consent (which I assume is what happened in the Delacruz case).

Anyone who's been on Things I Didn't Realise Till Embarrassingly Late threads knows that people can accept all sorts of guff unquestioningly, until that 'Wait - what?' moment.

TerfsUp · 12/09/2018 08:55

LM's twitter feed about getting pregnant made me laugh.

TerfsUp · 12/09/2018 08:54

When I'm prime minister we are renaming the days of the week after cartoon characters, making ground hog day 'a thing' in the uk, making a law banning fireworks being sold to the general public, ban letterboxes that impersonate women in burka, tax anyone with waffy buffon blonde wigs, reintroduce dodos into the wild, insist on exchange programmes for MPs to other constituencies weighted so rural go to urban and vice versa, insist that all TV news presenters pronounce grass GR-ASS not GR-ARSE and have a legal definition of women which is adult female human.

You've got my vote, Red.

ScreamingBird · 12/09/2018 08:43

The husband immediately suggested brain transplants too. He reckoned that the rich guys who want the girl bodies would (in case such an operation was successful) would find that the man's bodies got to keep all the money that the guys have, cos misogyny, so it would be an ideal asset transfer from said men to mentally troubled young women.

consternation · 12/09/2018 08:05

This is clearly 'if I won the lottery' type talk. It's biologically impossible and a non starter. I do think the Labour Party should take a great deal of responsibility for giving Lily a platform. It's unkind to allow them to humiliate themselves repeatedly. I wonder if this womb transplant nonsense is connected to them taking HRT? Presumably if a man capable of fathering a child starts taking HRT that would change their fertility? I don't know how that works?

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/09/2018 08:05

Well they are not the only one with no idea about biology ..that woke bloke from the green party who believes men get periods...

Poppyred85 · 12/09/2018 07:59

And on the biology front, while there might be space for a small non gravid uterus there isn’t for a term pregnancy. And that’s before we even get on to blood supply, ligamentous support, nerve supply, tissue rejection, immunosuppressive drugs, graft vs host disease and endocrinology.
