This trans journalist had a chance encounter with a supporter of WPUK. Was this one of you lot?

Really thoughtful article - division into two camps without engaging with each other is not the answer.

If I attempted to identify as genteel my family would disown me.

BettyDuMonde · 11/09/2018 17:21

I don’t identify as genteel.

Can’t speak for anyone else though.

AngryAttackKittens · 11/09/2018 17:16

I mean, that "genteel ladies" stuff isn't even nasty in a subtle way, it's just straight up hostile.

FermatsTheorem · 11/09/2018 17:15

"Can't argue with the logic so resort to ad hominem... I imagined better of you guys."

Ha ha ha ha ha. "You've let me down, you've let feminism down, but worst of all, you've let yourself down."

So let's see - this thread's gone through "you lot" please doxx yourselves, to "you're paranoid", through various epicycles of "I'm just trying to be nice and open a dialogue here", to insulting someone's religious faith, to back peddling on that, to "genteel ladies" to "you're just resorting to ad hominem attacks" when we point out the whiplash from the change of tactics from one post to the next.

FloralBunting · 11/09/2018 17:14

jasminemaya, no you didn't. Any suggestion you make of coming here today to engage in an actually productive conversation is a bare faced lie.

You have no logic. You haven't said anything logical at all here. If you came here for a proper dialogue, why did you launch a thread with an accusatory question, instead of a post saying what it is you think GC posters have right and attempt to meet in the middle?

GulagMilkMonitor · 11/09/2018 17:12

I'm sure one of you genteel ladies could put the point across well

We see you.

AngryAttackKittens · 11/09/2018 17:11

My DH has a lesbian auntie who's Catholic and she seems to be treated pretty well by her congregation (possibly in part because she does donate to various fundraising efforts, and her partner is an excellent cook and baker who likes to feed people).

GulagMilkMonitor · 11/09/2018 17:11

I would have thought an invitation for dialogue from a trans person rather than #nodebate would be welcomed

And how many of us GC women would be assaulted, threatened with rape, photographed or sworn at during this dialogue? Because this is what keeps happening to us.

BettyDuMonde · 11/09/2018 17:09

CoE are blimmin’ desperate for bums on seats/contributions to the spire restoration fund, in my experience,

jasminemaya · 11/09/2018 17:09

Can't argue with the logic so resort to ad hominem... I imagined better of you guys.

BettyDuMonde · 11/09/2018 17:06

I don’t think anyone GC actually reads the indie nowadays?

It jumped the shark with that silly Owl ‘facts’ piece that was thoroughly debunked by the actual government figures realeased shortly after 🤪

FermatsTheorem · 11/09/2018 17:05

"You lot", "genteel ladies," attacks on people's religious faith followed by wide-eyed disingenuous "oh I didn't mean it that way", you couldn't make it up. In another poster, without a posting history, one might be getting suspicious at this point. Of course OP does have a posting history, so I'm sure OP is in good faith.

Obviously not religious faith... but you get what I mean.

BettyDuMonde · 11/09/2018 17:03

That handbag was a crime against fashion.

FloralBunting · 11/09/2018 17:03

AAK, well, quite. It's not an actual attempt to engage at all, so I'd ask all lurkers to assess it with a clear eye. What do you think the OP is doing here?

And I ain't fucking genteel, in case anyone was under any illusions.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/09/2018 17:02

Apologies Rufus, I meant you genteel ladies

Well im not sure thats any better

How about 'was it one of the women in FWR?'

Or on mumsnet would probably be better even...lots of women have these opinion thingys

AngryAttackKittens · 11/09/2018 17:00

IME when people act like that irl the reaction is generally bafflement and attempts to disengage.

KittyKlawsReturns · 11/09/2018 17:00

Do we still get deleted for yawning?

Asking for a friend.

Genuine LOL Grin

FloralBunting · 11/09/2018 16:59

I'm over the hump of irritation and into mild amusement now. OP comes in with a silly article and asks if anyone here is the person in the article. Not in a threatening manner, you understand.

Then decides to fling some shit at the church when the ploy is unsuccessful.

And then decides it's time for some mutual reaching out, and when this suggestion is laughed at for being credibility-free, feigns disappointment that we don't want to have a cosy chat.

I do wonder how this kind of behaviour plays out elsewhere in the world.

AngryAttackKittens · 11/09/2018 16:57

I'm too neutral

Grin
NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/09/2018 16:57

genteel ladies

laydeeeesssss

AngryAttackKittens · 11/09/2018 16:57

I'm rather curious as to why someone who wants respectful dialogue would take the tone that Jasmine does here. I mean, "you lot", it's not exactly warm and friendly.

jasminemaya · 11/09/2018 16:56

I'm too neutral - the author has invited dialogue so the indie should feel obliged to publish a response. I'm sure one of you genteel ladies could put the point across well.

OP posts:
NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/09/2018 16:54

Both GC women and trans people have a point to make and imo would benefit from listening to each other.

What points do you believe GC poeple have to make, OP?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/09/2018 16:53

There are already transpeople who post in this section.

Plenty of dialogue thanks.

AngryAttackKittens · 11/09/2018 16:52

Why don't you do it, Jasmine? Be the change you want to see and all that.
