Quizteam, get the FPFW campaign pack. It's what I did - distributed it at some of the groups that I come into contact with, and left some at the church hall.

I've been asked to take some more over. They are running out, and other groups and halls are asking for some.

Sotiredallthetime · 19/09/2018 08:50

@QuizteamBleakley.

Money permitting. I would buy a campaign pack off Fair Play for women which includes leaflets to hand out.

If you just want to talk...stick to the basics.

The government is looking to alter the law to allow ANY man for ANY reason to enter women's spaces.

This means women will have men in their bathrooms, changing rooms, refuges, hospital wards and jails.

Some of these men will do this because they are violent and/or perverts.

There is no way to know which men are nice and which are violent or perverted, therefore the safest way is to keep ALL men out of our spaces.

If you want to help. Go to Fair Play for Women or Women's Place website and fill out the government consultantation with their help.

Stand up for women and girls privacy and safety, stand up against these change in the law.

Don’t know. Would be interested to hear tips.

I'm in rural Norfolk and often wonder how cut off from reality we are, out in the boons, in our safe little bubble.

Yesterday at nursery, I got chatting to a small group of Mums and - oh so casually - brought this up. Not a one of them knew about it. Not ONE! How can this be? I got flustered and waffled and then we all collected our children and shuffled away.

How can I introduce this, calmly and sensibly? I launched into full campaign mode whereas this needed a much 'gentler' explanation. Any ideas?

PetraDelphiki · 18/09/2018 12:07

Done! Bloody hell that's hard work!

I'll add a point for the question about any other issues. FPFW make an excellent point in their guidance about the importance of statistics. If 'anyone' is a woman, there is no way to track statistics for crime, participation etc for biological women. Hugely problematic.

But with this issue, no one really cares about women or their participation etc so the argument is less persuasive. So I'd turn it back round. If we can no longer distinguish between biological and trans women because 'they're all women' then you can also no longer track statistics for transgender people.

We're constantly being told how marginalised and oppressed transgender people are, how at risk from all sorts of abuse, homelessness, self harm, suicide. With self ID there is no way to track any this either, and no way to track whether crimes against women are because they're women, or because they're transgender. Repealing the GRA would solve this.

Just a thought. Unless of course these statistics Stonewall are so keen to rely on are NOT so important? Another contradiction from camp TRA.

I'm finding that I need to pace myself filling this form in but it is well worth persevering.

I'm very grateful for the guidance.

ILuvBirdsEye · 17/09/2018 07:44

Still working on mine. Added more and saved.

PersistenceIsNotFutile · 17/09/2018 07:26

Happy to help.

I made a good start yesterday, saved for me to finish in a day or two.
Thank you for all the information and guidance to filling this in because when I first looked at it I didn't have a clue. It seems pretty obvious that it is designed to be off putting and difficult for people who do not have a vested interest to fill in.

X post

CrackpotsArePots · 16/09/2018 11:04

andie

The guidance is on FPFW's website too. You can start filling in the consultation alongside (assuming you are on a computer not just a phone)

It is a bit heavy going - doing it in chunks

Just did my local councils Equality Consultation one. Full of gender/sex conflation and "assumed at birth" (a new one on me) nonsense

Have a look at the FPFW site. They have detailed info about answering some questions here
fairplayforwomen.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/FPFW-printable-guide-1.pdf

And a comprehensive guide to all the questions here

Just emailed a whole load of my friends about it, sending them these links with the email.

I ordered the pack from Fair Play For Women weeks ago in order to help me with filling in the consultation but I'm still waiting for it to arrive...Confused

I'm just working on mine. I used to advise on the law and I construct surveys, but I'm finding it really hard going, they've not made it easy for people, I doubt that they are going to get responses from many people other than those of us who are really well informed / committed. I'm finding A Women's Place guidance most helpful.

Stickerladiesoftheworldunite · 13/09/2018 07:10

3 done, more to go. Help.your friends and family with theirs. It does take a long time so prepare a word doc to personalise for each case.

When I was helping my mother with hers, we looked at hospitals, care homes especially.

I am planning on starting this in October to capture as many live incidents as possible.

hackmum · 12/09/2018 08:19

I've done it. There were a lot of questions, so it took longer than I expected. I didn't answer in as much detail as I'd have liked because I got bored, but at least I did it. I used Fair Play for Women as guidance.
