And yet lots of (not all, but plenty) have been saying for ages that the term "ladies" is iffy.

Same with the whole use the name I say thing, women have been called the wrong name/ renamed etc by all sorts of orgs and when we said this is out of order we were told it was trivial and shut up etc etc

bd67th · 01/09/2018 20:49

If one is a transwoman then surely an announcement stating 'ladies & gentlemen' can be felt affirming and inclusive?

It's about coalition politics with the non-binary snowflakes, who would feel excluded by "ladies and gentlemen".

ToeToToe · 01/09/2018 19:03

Oh Sian Berry. That is damning stuff.

Mind you, will the bloody 'dangerously woke' Green Party care??

This is a situation that is so horrific, you couldn't make it up. Nobody would believe it. Yet it's happening.

placemats · 01/09/2018 18:50

Rats. Ship. Sinking.

R0wantrees · 01/09/2018 18:37

Sian Berry seems to have worked closely with Aimee Challoner to get the 'Ladies & Gentleman' announcement stopped by TFL.

I don't entirely understand why Aimee Challoner was so invested in campaigning to abolish this. The articles that I've read are first a public complaint as when AC called, a TFL employee suggested that AC didn't 'sound much like a Miss'.

If one is a transwoman then surely an announcement stating 'ladies & gentlemen' can be felt affirming and inclusive?

The two events seem to have become connected. Hmm

LangCleg · 01/09/2018 18:28

Too late, Sian, too late.

Ereshkigal · 01/09/2018 18:05

Shame about that pesky internet is nothing really gets deleted...

Wow Shock she really did try a few hours ago to erase any endorsement of Aimee Challenor!

noeffingidea · 01/09/2018 17:34

Scrub your social media before you enter public life, people. They just don't learn, do they?
No wonder Jimmy Savile didn't bother with t'internet. He was far too clever for that.

Datun · 01/09/2018 17:33

It's posted on the other thread but Sian Berry (expected to win the ballot for co leader) is purging her twitter timeline of any tweets/retweet's mentioning AC.

Rats and ships.

Here we go.

VickyEadie · 01/09/2018 16:54

I don't (I saw it earlier today but can't recall where) but someone here will have...

bd67th · 01/09/2018 16:52

When Tina Challoner tweeted calling the victim of David Challoner's rape and torture a "slut"?

OMG. Do you have a screencap of that? Would you post it here if you do? (Obv not if it has the victim's name in.)

OlennasWimple · 01/09/2018 16:49

More about TC on this site

VickyEadie · 01/09/2018 16:37

Was Aimee on Twitter in 2015? When Tina Challoner tweeted calling the victim of David Challoner's rape and torture a "slut"?

'A smaller, local branch of an organisation can action safeguarding straight away and fuss-free when necessary - why the fuck didn’t a large political party not do the same?'

The answer to that should come out in the enquiry.

I don't think it will.

It's become pretty clear over the course of these threads that there is a faction within the Green Party with an agenda somewhat at odds with the old-stool aims of the Green Party.

Structural failures within the Green Party's inner systems of oversight and governance have given that faction a good deal of institutional power.

Those same structural failings have given rise to at least two distinct communicative networks - a fact which has also interferes with oversight of groups - and group activities - within the Green Party (witness Caroline Lucas' seeming lack of knowledge as to the use of BlockTerf by the Green Party Women's Group).

The two factions are now at loggerheads as to how to 'deal' with the issue of 'who knew what, when.'

It is quite possible that it was those same structural failings that led to the minimising of the significance of the charges against David Challoner.

It is pretty clear that Aimee has a different value for these groups - and at the moment, the groups are in conflict as to how this story should be handled.

At the very least, the Green Party has shown itself to be an absolute failure when it comes to oversight of its Party machinery, its members' behaviour, the behaviour of its executive bodies, and those it chooses as its candidates for civic roles.

To the extent that it has disregarded safeguarding.

To the extent that it did - and continues to - minimise violence against female children.

Aimee Challenor - and charges of 'transphobia' - act in different ways for both groups. Both groups are cynically using them.

However, the one intention both share is that the effect is to silence questions and to remove scrutiny.

This is our fourth largest political Party.

It is irresponsible not to scrutinise the structures - and people in those structures - that allowed this to happen.

placemats · 01/09/2018 16:16

If anyone else is off to google Janice Atkinson, please don't waste your time.

The clip was meant to bring in extreme views and the newsreader/interviewer was inept.

OlennasWimple · 01/09/2018 15:15

I'd not seen that AC / Janice Atkinson clip before. Off to Google her..

And perhaps we should move away from "Women don't have penises" to "Only women have a cervix" - more positive, moves away from talking about dicks (Janice says this phrase several times during the interview)

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 01/09/2018 15:12

The incontrovertible fact remains. Aimee was a trustee of Coventry Pride.

Coventry Pride has issued a statement on David Challenor saying that as soon as he was charged, November 2016, the organisation took safeguarding measures into operation. DC was banned from volunteering and was to be monitored if he attended any event organised by Coventry Pride.

A smaller, local branch of an organisation can action safeguarding straight away and fuss-free when necessary - why the fuck didn’t a large political party not do the same?

The Green Party really is dangerously inept. They’ll never get my vote unless they have a serious shake up.
